You only get better and close racing the closer your SR is to S.
The higher your DR will get the more pronounced is the importance of the SR.
Even if you’re an A rated driver in terms of DR if you have an SR below S you will get less close racing.
You should also try the FIA events.
They are really competitive and the racing is great there

My quali lap was a 2.00.9 but your consistency is amazing, putting 2.01's in the race is impressive. I only manage 2.02s
Sport mode doesnt even account for lap times. For example, I'm an A+ S driver, I could not even bother to set a time, and I could get put in a lobbies with top tier drivers. Qualifying sandbagging just isnt a thing, no point to do it.
Also the Sport mode matchmaking system has a lot more to do with SR/DR than time. Your SR is measured on a scale from 0-99. A lobby is made for each 10 points. 0-9, 10-19, etc. Then the game will divide these people into lobbies based of there DR. And then your time is used for your grid slot. So that’s the games “anti-sang bagging” system if you will, because you would have to sandbag your rating to get those free wins.
You can take you're SR from E to S in a few decent races, its easy enough to do. However DR is the challenge, getting past the bad lobbies whilst keeping it in tact is nigh on impossible sometimes. In regards to the Beetle, its one of the most used cars in Race B this week. Great video, hope to see you on the track soon
If u want to improve driver rating u want to have a good quali lap cuz your ratings will only take in consideration the place you finish regarding the opponent strength and not how much places you gained.. so i don’t see any good thing in sabotaging your quali unless you want to practice overtakes
you could be OP on the GT FIA races, actually if you race more online, you could have pontential to beat at least williams_gio or hizal XD, i have hopes that you will be a future FIA champion

Sportsmanship rating has alot to do with how clean you race and how clean the race was ..clean race= bonus points
Good luck as your DR&SR improve. I've plateaued at B/S. Bad results(-500dr) when you on have 15k hurt moving up DR.
I like the beetle also, especially in cockpit view!! I do wish you could see both side mirrors as I crash if I look left or right, behind is fine though, but also be nice to move the rearview mirror to the left to see the whole thing and not have lap times obscuring it.
I'm in class B (with S sportsmanship) and if the weekly race is on a track that i'm not good at, i quite often qualify near the back (without sandbagging), but usually 5th to 12th range. I have noticed that there will always be 2-4 people who seem to be a little or a lot better than the others, but my position from race to race doesn't vary too much (whether i qualify well or not). I have found though that i prefer to qualify with a reasonable time (but not necessarily my best), because i tend to make a few mistakes, and by doing so i end up around people who are more around my skill level (i cant maintain qualifying times consistently) and therefore generally have a more fun race with people rather than just dropping back gradually because i can't maintain those times. I do tend to get sweaty hands though, which is why i actually use directional arrows instead of analogue sticks as i slip on them, even with grips. Plus growing up it was what i am used to. Does mean that cornering smoothly is much harder (impossible on some corners).
Match making is by DR and to a lesser point SR. If I see an SR C with good qualifying time and better race pace I assume they deliberately tanked their DR to get some wins. I see this practice as unsportsmanlike. Great video get your DR up and post some videos where you had to fight on use a worse car.
Hey sup. The problem in your theory is the match making system has nothing to do with qualy times. It as to do with the amount of sr and dr you have . Im a s s driver so even if i dont qualify or do a horrible time i will still be in the lobbie with the a a+ and s drivers.
You can check this online on kudosprime or the app gtscompanion. Sand bagging doesnt work .

The dr system is very slow. Matchmaking is based solely on dr, not quali. There is no reward for qualifying badly, even if you pass cars. Basically you cant sandbag. Also the matchmaking engine is a little random so somtimes you will get matched with better or worse players
I wish I still was in the E class but since day 1 I am in class D driving in last position.
I did the opposite and got S. I finished every race and had minimum contact and penaltyes and there you go I am now enjojing racing even if I gain no positions

Here's my take on the matching system after 111 days played. I've made it as high as B DR and S SR. I prefer to keep S SR but being that north america has to deal with the drivers from brazil and mexico in their lobbies, that is not always a thing that is going to happen. Your idea about the matching system learning is correct. Not so much you as a player but you on the track, from what I have seen. Unless you are A+ or S rated you can be matched pretty wildly at the beginning of a new week of daily races but if you race in those races once or twice every day, by the end of the week, you are in races where every other driver is very competitive to your drive time and sportmanship rating. A+ and S guys get special handling by the system because they have the most to lose. The only time I usually see these guys is in race C, which is usually the fastest cars for the week. Gr1 Gr2 F1 etc are common car types in race C. A lot of the people who normally race A or B simply can not handle the speed in C most of the time. But back to A+ and S. A driver rated A+ or S can win the race, even by a huge amount but because someone was in the lobby with a B rating, they lose driver rating points.
To the topic of tanking, it usually goes the other way around. Daily races are nothing to top pick. All they are is a chance to get knocked out of the top pick in the FIA tournaments because top pick has a high chance of losing DR in any daily race. However, a driver in top pick may actually want to lose that DR because if they go into second or third pick, where they are more likely to take pole, set fastest lap and win the race, they can get a lot more FIA manufacturer or nation points than if they were in top pick and managed a 4th to 10th place.
A disturbing trend i have seen twice though is the dirty accounts coming out in FIA off weeks. Between FIA preseason and FIA season, there were a massive amount of dirty drivers that just showed up and started wrecking driver and sportsmanship ratings by instigating fights or bump draft or any number of ways. This occurred again when FIA was at nurburgring doing the world event and there was a 3 week down cycle in FIA races. These accounts are being played by someone with a pretty good skill level so they can get back up to SR S pretty quick but for the more mediocre and less experienced drivers, they get shoved into lobbies with drivers that are absolute trash or have zero sportmanship and would just as soon double suicide you(i.e. take you with them off the track into the rails) as race with you.
For you though. Unless you pick up your pace, I can tell you that mid/high B to a small possibility of low A DR is where you are going to cap out. I too sit between 2 to 3 seconds off the top 10 pace and this is where I live at currently. Mid B rank. By your accent I am guessing you're in GB so you have more competent drivers to deal with. EA league is usually .5 to 1 sec faster than NA, or at least from what I am seeing from the EA league streamers, it appears that way. GL getting to A over there :D
Oh and btw, the reason that VW is not well represented atm is their cars don't carry in high pick races. They lack top end and can't handle as well as the handling cars. Being single axle vehicles hurts vw almost as bad as it hurts the FF cars, Too much going on to one set of tires and no real way to split the load out evenly. At least VW isn't trying to steer, power and turn on the same axle.
If you sandbag and make a mistake or two. You lose more than what you think you can gain.
Sandbagging is good if you're starting out with new acct up until DR B.
Once you are DR A, you don't want to start from the back unless you're quali time is 1 second off top 10.

Bop is why you never see the Beetle. It’s a similar car to the ft-1, but it is slower on the straight and handles better, but both of the cars are strong on long sweeping corners. The best cars in class are cars like the Porsche.
WiseGuy TM Yeah I definitely noticed that the guy in second in every race would start catching up on the first straight. Still worth it for the handling I think.
@@HSGAutomotive The beetle is one of the most used car's on Race. B. Its one of the quickest around the chicanes and the tighter corners. Im at a B - S level just now, however Porsche, Audi and the beetle are easily the most used. After that its the Merc, BMW and then, theres me, in me Atenza| haha
I just got the game. The only sports mode events i've driven is the 3 daily events. First race i started 3rd and ended 3rd. Second race i started 12th and ended 10th. Last race I started 10th and finished 6th. I got a single 0.5 sec penalty on the last race, but my sportsmanship rating still went up to A. In the last race there were a lot of A and B rated drivers so I got my ass kicked, being E rated and owning the game for just a few days. I do hope to improve my sportsmanship rating though :)

I tryed a few times to do thoose races online, but always some one put me out of race! - so I dont do thoose dayly races anymore (and WHY should I get my nerves out? I can play online in rooms anyway..) Ive got D and S since 6 month!
The BoP on the Beetle just probably isn't favourable compared to the top cars anymore.
You're right, the reason you're so much faster is because everyone starts with zero points and works up, and grids are sorted more by class than lap time. For example, TRL_Lightning took a few days to rank up, and he was no doubtably so much quicker in qualy at the game's launch:

Another thing, E class applies to everyone for their first 5 races. After that, however many DR points you have will gained from these 5 races will be applied and you'll find yourself in the rank according that corresponds to your number of points.
Hi I agree when I reached B DR rating I was put with faster drivers and when you start mid pack it's really hard to improve your rating as you are expected to perform example if you start 10th you have to finish 9th or above or you will lose rating also quitting a race now loses more than finishing last
I did the exact same thing I went from b to s just two days ago from the day you m writing this
Intermediate Guide to GT Sport DR/SR Scoring System:
- DR determine how fast of driver you are whom you are match within the Points. consistently Finish ahead your Qualifying you will score DR point and also more point if you finish ahead your Lobby rank which shown by the number on your car for that lobby For example
- In this video your car numbers was 6, 14, 11 in their respective Lobby you needed to Finish 5,13,11 to maintain/score DR points, the higher you finish including you qualifying POS the more point you earn, in your case you got maximum DR point by finish First for that race
- You will be award around 1,200 DR points when ever you moving up a level and lose the same amount should you fall back a level too
-The Points system goes like this
A+ 50k to 75k
A 30k to 49k
B 10k to 29k
C - 4k to 9k
D - 1 to 3k
New Driver E 1 to 1k
-And getting 2.01 in Suzuka will put you around mid to high tier B class Driver, for now it will be a bit of a breeze or till' you meet similar driver in the lower rank
- SR determine how clean of driver you are and who you match up with and consistently drive clean and getting green/ purple sector in a the track earn you SR points. And you earn less point when carry penalties. and causing any indecent you will lose a huge chunk your Safety rating
- Conclusion
Yeah you are late to the party just All the fast driver have already move up to B A/A+ /S rank

As Bottle GT has already said, others that are in your class because they are new to the game, probably having spent hours and hours playing the game before hand like you. It won't take long before you get to a level that matches your skill level.

I liked to do the Sport Mode daily races in the beginning of GT Sport.
Right now I believe there are far less drivers than 1 year ago.
Those who stayed are more experienced than before or are the pro drivers. Because I don't play the game daily or weekly it's difficult to not driving behind all the time. I miss the baby drivers who can't drive but love the cars and the game.
What S does it mean? A or A+ isn't the better?

You shouldn't sandbag because if read the thing that shows up with the maintenance notification about the disabled accounts, it clearly states that if you exploit a bug or a mechanic in the game to gain an unfair advantage you will not be allowed race in sport mode. Your account will be disabled. So for your sake mate, don't do it

You barely play this is why you got ranked low with low players ..you raced clean hence why you ranked up ..you're faster because you have better racing skills or they made mistakes..your just that good lol
