This is exactly what I’ve been looking for - a way to make a pony bow out of common, inexpensive materials. I can’t wait to give it a try. Thank you so much!
Good luck my friend! I am planning on making some more videos about bow making with COMPLETE desk trash. Alternatives to bamboo and so on. Also, if you make this bow and you are satisfied, consider sending a video sample and I will gladly feature it on the channel. Have a blessed day!
Just finished my first one that didnt break. Then realized aftrr watchimg and listening again more carefully that i was pulling my first on le back to far past 30 pounds, wasnt fully trying to Mediterranean draw but was still pulling to far. This time i got a scale and found exatly where the bow bounces from 30 to 35 and no cracks on this one even thoughy bamboo isnt in perfect shape. Cant wait to perfect this bow craft ❤. Love the new style of archery it almost forces you to learn as well. Definitely seems more of a man to man wespon than a hunting tool. But the hunting capability is there too!
Glad to hear about your experience with this recipe! I actually have a little trick that can help you limit your draw up to the point that you want. I plan on making a video about it too. So basically all you have to do is tie a non elastic rope on both the shaft and the string. Let it be as long as your longest draw. Just tie it a little above or below the middle point where the arrow is meant to sit on and each time you draw, that rope will stop you from going further. Have fun with this awesome weap... err... tool* ;)
Thank you for your reply! ❤ I actually just drew around all my arrows at the right spot "I picked 18 inches for my current bow" with a bright colored marker to the same effect, it's bright so I can see in my peripherals when it reaches my knuckle without looking away from my target. Works great! Now I just need to perfect my arrow fletching to avoid any more dive bombing arrows 😂
Yes bro! Most definitely! Give me some more time though to prepare some topics and more material to discuss. I am also... still setting up my broke @ss streaming equipment 😅
VERY nice!! If you take any videos of it, I will definitely feature it in the next video :D . You could even explain what you did different for people to get new ideas.
Could you make the bow using freshly cut river cane? That is what is most accessible where I am. Does it need to be dry to be springy? Excellent video, very thorough and informative!
Thank you very much! Yes, river cane is very good and can do the job. But make sure it's the one type that resembles bamboo. Because Arundo donax is way too soft to work properly. Well if it is dry then it will work much better. But you CAN make one with green reeds. It won't be as strong though and as it dries out, it will shrink a bit and your knots might become loose. But this recipe is so easy to repeat again and again. So by all means, go for it 😃 . If you are planning on preparing a batch to dry out, then remember that river cane needs a spot with good ventilation and shade to dry correctly. If you let it directly under the sun then it will get ruined. Also if there it doesn't get some renewed air, mold forms and also it takes forever to dry out. Also to straighten them out, you can simply tie them all together firmly. They will press on one another and straighten up. Oh yeah, and the most obvious process is to make them bare from any leaves and husks. Good luck!
That was a great tutorial and the bow, arrow and string designs are fantastic. It's an all weather and all terrain survival tool. Along with its basic function for archery, It's a walking stick, a spear, a fishing pole, a fire starting bow drill, a ridgepole for a tent or lean-to, first aid splint, a torch, etc.
@@PanSaltzCaballeratos always unfortunately I I'm not at my home right now but I have already purchased all the materials to make this new bow when I get home.
Bro I love your Videos....this Vid is absolutely awesome....should you ever visit Germany let me know...I invite you to my home....thanks for your great work man....🤙
you really put alot of love and effort into this for sure man. archery, no matter where in the world is a beautiful thing in my opinion. the connection with nature, is valuable, Lifting. religious.. or less. nature was here before us. and I've got a sneaky suspicion that the more time progresses in our age the more people will at the very least give a fair try for archery. may your arrows fly true
Beautiful message. Unfortunately, I believe that archery will keep being chosen for a darker reason. Things are progressing badly and archery will be the only thing available for defense and survival. Wild guess ... but if things go... big boom... it's "bye bye technology" .
@@beardedbowyer9327 You too Brother! In the end of this crazy world, it's our type of people who will remain and guide survivors into something better. I truly believe that.
So much work into this presentation, great job. I have gathered, dried, selected and trimmed my bamboo from nature. Treated with superglue, sanded and clear finished them. Do you have a facebook where i csn share my outcome for the bundle bow?
Thank you VERY much! It is extremely important that you are able to gather your own bamboo. First of all... it will be already in PERFECT condition compared to what most shops sell. I would gladly follow your progress! And if you want, I can feature your work in one of my next videos as a grateful shoutout. I finally made a Facebook profile to meet with my friends here. Thank you VERY much bro! I deeply appreciate your recognition of this project. It took me an entire 3 months of freaking HARD daily work 😅😅 . But the result didn't disappoint! 😃
Hellooo and thank you for your feedback! Well , yes you can. But in my experience, it works the same even when you do it later. The paint slides in all corners when rubbed. So in other words, I do it that way to save time, as you need to actually paint parts of the leather etc. But this recipe is "open source" so to speak. It can be altered and adjusted by each person to fit them perfectly. Also, successful mutations give ME ideas to progress, so if you do it that way, let me know how it went :D
I noticed nothing was said about being able to straighten arrows with a bit of heat…. Really like this tutorial have passed on to friends very impressive on using what’s at hand to fight and eat thank you…. Would love to see a book come out so as to have a hard copy to refer to now snd again
Thank you very much! I have never tried using heat on the stakes. I thought that only works on green bamboo and the fibrous wood on thicker ones. Does it work on dry thin stakes? Also, you are right. The book should get finished soon. I have already made half of it by making this video. I'll make a pdf and I'll send it to you as soon as it's ready.
@@PanSaltzCaballeratos Yes it will work straightening out even dried sticks and bamboo I have done this in the past if need be I have even used Crisco oil put a thin coat to help lubricate the fibers so that they can be straightened but this needs to be done with care and thank you very much I am very honored
@@raycouch6953 You won't be disappointed ;) . My own training experience has sky rocketed with the new design. Also, another video is following... with upgrades. You know, attachments like what a scope is for a firearm.
Yes! Finally I do. I have 23 arrows ready to go but I can make more if you order. It's 3.50$ dollars each +10$ for the shipping costs. I am only using Wise (wisetransfer) for the time being. If you want to order a batch then we can talk through facebook or any other way to exchange addresses and to choose camo (golden) or training (bright orange) colors.

PVC will work well to just get a heat gun or a camp fire and heat the PVC until pliable shape it how you want file in a notch and add a string

Bamboo and river canе in Greece are same?
No, bamboo is not native here though it grows in a few areas and cane is native I doubt it has the strength of a American river cane
Unfortunately, here I have only found Arundo donax. Common reed. It's too soft, so I end up buying it.

Ah-ha! This is why the American Indians lost their wars against the U.S Army; they ran out of tape and super glue for making their arrows 😮
The major reason though is actually the fact that the super glue mines dried up. Gosh darn it! 😢😢😢
