Wily, try leaving both cab doors totally open when trying to raise cab. It can help! Engine would be a 477 or 534. When Ford put 3208 Cats in these they were WORLDS better!!
That absolutely makes sense to me. Thank you for sharing
That's correct... ;-)
This is the trick. Open both doors first.
Actually drove these in the fire department when they were new. Usefulness depends on the motor & trans ... 4 speed not to hot. 5 speed much better 😊
Pump and bits prolly OK. Tank may be rotted out ... I see the wooden hose deck is gone. Brakes are prolly hydraulic over air ...
The whole point on these was maneuverability. The cab forward good visibility while turning 😅
Thanks for sharing and watching
Careful in the sharp curves... That water would slosh in the tank and throw the truck into a ditch before you knew it. Happened to a friend of mine on a call. That was the end of his career as a volunteer fireman.
Wiley I think 🤔 you can get it to run 🏃 but it needs to be painted red and make it back to the original fire 🔥 truck 🛻 to be used in a parade you have a great 👍 day
I think he plans in getting it where it will at least make a complete parade route. But he said he is keeping oaint scheme the same. I agree with you. A new fire engine red would look good
Thanks for watching
That Old Ford pumper is making batteries!! 👍
Lol 😂
That looks like something Hank needs for his flower farm
That and to keep his legs cooled off. He has broke out the shorts
Thanks for watching
That is really cool looking Wiley, 😎 i like the paint job, great to hear that old truck started up. I like to see it drive around, cool looking old ford. 😎 👍👍👍
Thank you and thanks for watching
My dad was good at them counties i would ask him what to or three means
Absolutely, save this old gal!
He is. Will get a video of it in its first parade
Thanks for watching
I like those old Fords. They made them in that style all the way into the early 90s. Spoke wheels....I like those better than the disc style. Very neat! Thanks for sharing Wily! I'm looking forward to seeing it run.
Thanks for sharing and watching
1989 was the last of that line of cabover Fords. The VFD I served in bought one of the last ones off the assembly line that year.
Hello wily thank you love watching your videos ken
Thanks Ken.
Open Both Doors First Before Lifting Worked On These When They Were New
Thanks
That makes perfect sense to me
Wow
I remember when I was 4 years old and my father brought a BRAND NEW one home for our rural fire department. It didn't need a siren. That 534 cubic inch beast had straight pipes, no mufflers. You could hear it starting from 1/2 mile or more away when it dispatched. When it was brand new, the "new fire truck smell" closely matched tire rubber! LoL.... I guess the tires and the firehoses cause dthat.
Thank you Wiley. I would make in to a roll back wrecker 😅❤
Thank you
Thanks for another fun video Wiley.
It was interesting and enjoyable.
Don’t know what you have there for sure. If that has set for years it might need a lot of little things done to it to make it usable.
May have to invest a few bucks in it to make it usable. Hard telling what condition it is in until you can get it running.
Just depends how much you want to put into it.
Thanks wiley for telling us about it.
The Iowa farm boy. Steve.
Thats exactly right.
I think he wants to patch running gear up so it will at least make it all the way through a parade route.
At 2.5 MPG he will trailer it to town
You was 5. I was 4. Im happy Im not as old as you are!😂
Lol.
Funny you guys call it a drive line, we up northerners call it a drive shaft!!!
It's an awesome fire truck, Wiley. I appreciate you sharing this video, buddy 👍
Thank you for watching
Wiley you always lead us on some new adventure. Interesting to see what happens!
Thank you and thanks for coming along
That's cool

Don’t think they were doing much fire fighting their breath would have made things worse lol😂😂😂😂😂😂😂
Lol.
That has to be the same rig that was used in my cousin's wedding reception/send off back in about 2011 over there on Mobile bay...point clear i think?...War Eagle!
It has to be. Wish you could get a confirmation on that and maybe video if they do not mind utilizing being shared. I would put it in the next short video if thus running. If not i completely understand

I am not a Ford guy, never owned one, but the name FoMoCo was very common here in MI. Similar to MoPar for Chrysler products.

I fully understand, being an Ohio person that lived in Alabama for a while would be like me acknowledging that "team up north".😂 Keep up the videos.👍🏾
Wily, That truck is the same exact age as I am. Overall the truck looks pretty straight. We used to have a VacAll truck that was on the same cab & chassis that was later repurposed as a salt brine truck because of its ability to handle a huge tank with the salt brine and or calcium chloride to pretreat the bridges on the interstate highways here in Kentucky.
Thank You for sharing that.
Wily, After I made my comment, I remembered that the Ford COE trucks were also used for the highway striping setups with the long chassis.
The COE Fords that we had in our fleet were all diesel. I am not sure what engine it was though. A good number of our Ford tandem dumps that were around the same age as the COE Fords had the 3208 Caterpillar engines.
When the Fords were being replaced with the IH/Navistar trucks with the DT466 engines, Our drivers really missed the Ford trucks due to the very short turning radius because the IH trucks took 40 acres of real estate to turn around compared to the Fords. The VacAll unit that I mentioned before also had a 3208 Caterpillar engine to power it independent of the diesel engine that powered the Ford COE truck. I do not remember any of our Ford COE trucks having any gasoline engines, But the cabs inside were pretty much identical to the cab you were showing in your video.
Open both doors makes it easier to raise the cab
That makes sense. Thanks for Sharing
who did that to that fire truck...lol
Lol.
now that how seats should be Will
Agree.
Enjoy your videos Wiley
Thank you
That's a classic fire truck take care and God bless
Thanks
Really want a "dontbe" hat..
I hope to have some merch one day. Thank you for watching
The American truck makers need to bring back the cab over trucks with advancement of safety etc. They need to learn from Scania, Volvo, and East Asian truck companies that produce modern successful cab overs. Cabovers have better momentum than big nose trucks. There is an American UA-camr named Bruce Wilson who is a big fan of Scania, and he even owns one or two in the US.
Thanks for sharing and watching.
@@DontbeWily You are welcome! Awesome channel! 😊
