Thank you for the video. I have a power max 826 only 2 years old and the auger is making a loud squealing noise which is very intermittent - a minute or so maybe a couple times in 30 or 40 minutes of total run time - appears then disappears. Machine has only 10 or 12 hours on it, light use, never stalled or broke a shear pin etc. I notice the auger cable as set up from the shop is quite loose and the dealer told me not to overtension it (leave a bit of slack). Could a sloppy auger cable result in intermittent squealing noise? I shudder at the thought of a bad bearing or worse on an almost new machine so I’m hoping this is a simple fix. Anyway thanks again for taking time to post the video…
Unfortunately, I would need to hear the sound of the noise to try and figure that one out. When it squeaks, I’d it happens when under a heavy load of snow. It would make sense that it is a loose belt. Especially wet snow. Try spraying silicone spray in and around augers and exhaust chute to help the snow come out easier. You must apply when the machine is dry(no snow inside the chute)
Hey thanks for the reply! The last time this happened (recently) it was heavy snow (not that deep but sticky). I backed it off and cleared everything and engaged / disengaged the auger a couple times and it was quiet again. But I’m pretty sure it’s happened randomly under lighter snow conditions too. Wish I was quick enough to fish out my phone and capture the sound when it happens. Guess I should snug up the auger cable anyway as a sanity check? Anyway thank you for responding.
I have yet to come across those handle issues in this area because we don’t use our snow throwers often. I’m sure somebody has a video on it keep searching. Or you can just use a bungee or loaded hand grip to keep the handle down while using machine.

I have a newer PowerMax machine. They tell you How many inches should be on that spring when it's engaged. It's usually 2 3/4 in. I usually use a caliper to measure it. My problem is after a couple of uses I can no longer get two and three quarter inches on that spring of tension Even if I turn the turnbuckle all the way down as far as I can go. Is there an adjustment to increase the attention for the belt itself not using the spring.. spring tension idler?
(1) You may be able to move the idler pulley in? You will need to see if the arm is slotted, where the idler pulley sits. (2) Your belt has stretched and is worn out. You will need to replace it. @@JohnsonsSmallEngines yeah I just uploaded a video I will send to you. This is a brand new Toro PowerMax E26 I've only used two times recently. There was plenty of turnbuckle space to give the spring more attention to get two and three quarter inches but now that is gone.. I have to turn the turnbuckle all the way down. So the belt is brand new. Yes there is One more hole to put more tension on the belt for the tensioner but it looks like it'll be putting way too much pressure on the belt . I'm just wondering if the cable stretched out somehow where the spring is. It's very weird.
@@muzikmon2267First loosen the cable adjustment as far as possible then try moving to the other hole to put more tension on the belt / then tighten up as needed on the cable and I think that will work.
@@ric7664 yep I tried that.. It looks like it's putting a little bit too much tension on the belt.. regardless of what I do with the spring. I think I'm going to call Toro and see if they can send me a new belt.. 3-year warranty.. They already sent me a new battery cover free of charge. I called them told them battery cover had scratches all in it even though it had plastic on it.. no big deal but when you spend $1,800 including tax I WANT A NEW COVER. I told them I did not want to bring it to a service center. The answer they always say about everything.. Don't have a truck too heavy. Not renting a truck from home Depot for something I can fix.. So surprisingly they sent me the cover no problem. I'm sure they'll send me a cable. Hopefully that will fix it. I've only used it two times. I'm sure that maybe the second hole will work eventually as the belt breaks in. It's just very bizarre that it ran out of tension that quickly I don't think I heard of anyone else having this problem. So it's going to be the belt itself breaking in, or that cable might be slightly too long from manufacturing.. Something like that. ( Thank you for your advice 🙂 )
Snowblower fixed, thanks to you, my one-handed friend.
Much appreciation, from Detroit, Michigan. You’re the man.
This saved the day after the blizzard of Jan 2022. The exact video help I was looking for. Thanks

24” of snow and a broken blower...until I saw this post. Thank you!
I’m very happy you were able to keep on going with all the snow you have to deal with.
Thanks Man fixed my problem! Great instructions and made it simple

Any suggestion to try and fix the auger handle not staying in the locked position on a 1030 power max?

Would love to see a video on how to remove all the motor covers off a Toro Powermax 6000!

@@JohnsonsSmallEngines I just picked up a used Power Max 826 LE, it seems to be running great so I'm just doing my homework ahead of time.
If the auger cable is completely loose and the auger is still spinning, what can be done?
It sounds like you may have the incorrect belt on? Or a return spring for the idler arm is broken but this is guessing, without seeing it.
Tank you
