GM never officially released a towing guide on the Trax. From what I can figure out 1100-1500 pounds. About 180 pound tongue weight at max. I wouldn’t get crazy with putting too much behind it but if you stay under 1500 you’ll be fine. Now, I want you to know, this is just speculation because there is no official number so please don’t just take my word for it. Do some research and draw your own conclusions on what you think. There isn’t a lot of info out there so this is the best answer I can come up with.
@@xlarinI don't think it's a question of the engine. I think they make plenty of power. I think it's more just a question of putting too much strain on the bolt holes in the frame and the strain on the transmission.
Thanks for posting this. I am going to get roof cross bars for sure and may get the receiver. I don't plan on towing with my Trax but I might want a box or bike rack.
Hi, comment and idea and suggestion -- Just bought a 2025 Trax, and we like it, except for a couple of things. One of which is the weak, European beep-beep horn! Don't even know where the horn is, but would it be possible to add a second, powerful high-note horn, to give it a "57 Caddy" sounding dual horn? Dont know if a mounting bracket would be needed, or what kind of horn would work, or if it would screw up the voltage draw. Any thoughts! Thanks!
Have you noticed any problem towing anything around with some weight on the Trax? I have a 2020 Trax. It says not to tow anything in my owners manual. Thanks.
Whatever works! Make it fit and get the bolt tight. It’s a single sheer so that means it only has one sheer point. Plenty strong as long as as it’s tight and doesn’t pull through.
@@saturnspeedshopthanks I just drilled out the hole abit more to get the last bolt straight. Another question for the wiring harness for the trailer did you need a special deal for that or just got your parts from menards?
Yeah they make some noise. It doesn’t bother me because I’m like half deaf so I’m not the best one to tell you. I will say every car I own that I’ve put them on make noise.
No I didn’t. I ended up trading it in because I drive wayyyy too many miles. I put 25,000 on it in 3 months. So I bought an older car so I didn’t mile it out.
@@saturnspeedshop good to know! You can also mitigate the wing noise by adding paracords on the racks it self. Search up “roof rack paracord” and you’ll see what I’m taking about.

Thank you very much for the instructions, it is very useful! I'll be waiting for instructions on how to connect the lights for the trailer.
When I get around to doing it I’ll post a video. Been working and haven’t had time!
@@saturnspeedshopThanks! What is the maximum weight that this vehicle can carry on a trailer?

@@saturnspeedshop Thanks, I was wondering if this Trax engine could pull 1500 pounds? Especially if you go uphill.

Thanks for doing this video. I installed mine while watching your video. Saved me installation costs!
Awesome! I tried to make it easy to follow. Tough to film upside down under the car. 😂 glad it helped.
Thanks for making this video. Appreciate all of the information.
No problem at all! Hope it was helpful

Hey dude, Any update on how the wiring works? i just bought this hitch also. now need to put in a harness?

You’re not really supposed to so it’s at your own risk! Definitely don’t put more than about 1200 pounds behind it.
What do you do if the one hole is misshaped and pushes down? Hammer that f”er back up? So the bolt fits better?

Hey bud,Did those roof rails cause alot of noise when ya drive over 40 mph? I seen some of them for 128 on amazon but reviews said they are loud,,,
Yeah they make some noise. It doesn’t bother me because I’m like half deaf so I’m not the best one to tell you. I will say every car I own that I’ve put them on make noise.
I bought a cheap set for $99 on eBay and there’s no noise, to the people that say there’s noise there isn’t, they’re just salty
Did you ever get the wiring module kit installed for the hitch?
No I ended up trading the car in because I needed a pickup again to deal with the projects I’m working on for the channel
Link for the roof rack pls thank you
Got a link to the trailer hitch?
Hey did you figure out how to set up the trailer lights? I can’t find any videos on it!

Any tips on wiring ?
Can you do a video towing something?
How’s the wind noise driving with that on the Trax? Additionally how much has your mpeg has tanked?
Wind noise is there, but I’m kinda hard of hearing so it doesn’t bother me. Fuel economy is around 30-32 still.

Oh hell I don’t remember. Lol I’ll look it up.
By the way, I also wanted to ask, is it possible to somehow block the refueling hatch on this car? Or will it always be open?
Not that I know of.
What is the towing capacity of a vehicle
GM doesn’t have a tow capacity rating on these, but from what I know of similar vehicles, somewhere around 12-1300

Is this a gm part ??
Do you have a link to buy this hitch ? I do not find
I got it from Curt trailer
How much weight total can these tow? 2000lbs????
There’s no real specs but idk say 1200 maybe 1300. I wouldn’t go real heavy.

Where do you buy the roof rails?
Amazon. I will put the link in the description of the video.
It’s this a gm part?
No it’s not. It’s a curt part
NO WIRING, MOST IMPORTANT PART! DONT BOTHER, ITS A WASTE OF TIME
Lol you're just a ball of positivity aren't you?
