I've tried the photo paper the straw the turkey baister I've tried everything with no avail. Not until I tried the yupo paper with the small air compressor did I ever enjoy this procedure. Oh my gosh I dont need to use alot of the ink inorder or get the desired results that i truly love. Wahoo I love it.

I've recently been putting down eyeglass cleaner on photo paper before using alcohol inks (gives more fluidity to alcohol inks). Then after all dry I use hairspray as fixative for metallic inks.

Love these cards. I have used the alcohol prints for cutting balloons for birthday cards. They turned out cute. Plus if you have any areas that are sticky after they dry you can stick gold foil to it i dont use mine often but they are fun.

Hi Sasha. I have bought some alcohol ink recently and tried, but totally made a mess on printer paper 🤣. I bought yupo paper to try more, but still never had time to try that out. I now know you should try the back of the printing paper and use normal alcohol to make better blending results. You made great cards with them! Awesome ideas! 🥰👍🏻

You're inks won't move as well on the shiny part of the photo paper as they tend to stick to it, if you use photo paper, try the back of it. I use it all the time, the results are totally different

I have always purchased gloss card stock which is I think clay coated and buffed. It allows the inks to move perfectly. I have not compared cost to yupo so idk if better or worse. Also Grafix makes a plastic paper that is less than yupo. Photo paper is meant to hold inks in place by design and I think both the coated stock and the plastic stock do better for getting the inks to move.

I would guess with the alcohol pearl inks, you do get what you pay for. Obviously, as you demonstrated, the knock-offs don't work in the end. If you really want the pearlescent colors, I would recommend saving and getting the legitimate Tim Holtz inks. Just my two-cents' worth. I do really like how your panels & cards came together. I also learned the hard way that alcohol inks stain silicone or Teflon mats! I generally use the slick side of freezer paper, even though I hate the waste when I have to throw it away. I do have a glass mat, but I'm afraid to try and maybe ruin it with the inks! It is an older mat, but still quite useful for intricate cutting with my craft knife & using with my Fuse tool. And the new ones are rather costly, so.... Anyway, thank you for sharing your playtime. Take care, & have an awesome day! :)

That’s an incredible amount of alcohol ink to put down. I tend to use much less and make use of the alcohol or blender solution so the inks flow easier. I also use craft glossy paper ( not photo paper - there is a big difference) and an equivalent to Mylar which does the same at a little less of a price. Each to her own - the fun of crafting is experimenting with craft mediums and coming up with different outcomes. Great idea for a quick card.

Another tip to stop your inks staining everywhere is just to laminate a sheet of paper or card and work on that. You can wipe off the alcohol inks with the alcohol easier then throw it away if it gets too scruffy and use another one. I did some A3, cheap too :)

Sasha, I have watched several videos on Yupo paper alternatives. They say that photo paper is a great option, but not all photo papers work. Also, use the back of the photo paper on some-it works better. Kirkland (from Costco in the states) is one of the best, although they no longer sell it. I found a huge 8 1/2 x 11" pack at a thrift store for a couple of dollars! Here is a link to Mary Polanco's video where she does alcohol ink on the front and back of HP photo paper. I don't think the metallic rubbed off.
    ua-cam.com/video/74xcgbqTazc/v-deo.html&ab_channel=MaryPolanco
Also many said they use glossy paper. I have not had luck with glossy paper, but then again, it may depend on which brand you use.
