Emma was polite with answering stupid questions
Imagine promoting a film and going on interview after interview and having everyone just ask basically the same questions
    It can be tiresome

I've seen a few (very few) really great interviews around this movie where they didn't ask predicable questions and also didn't focus just on her. Her co-star Daryl McCormack is quite wonderful and believable in this role especially as it reveals his vulnerabilities. I particularly love when in the first interview linked below the interviewer asks Emma which of the characters that she's played in other movies would most benefit from seeing Leo Grande and also asks about the dance scene. Oh and the question about "icks"...haha. Very interesting interviewer. These are my two favorite interviews:

It's about time that the film industry gets over their stigma with ageism. Let us see real women. Why is it ok for Mel Gibson to play an old, gruff, alcoholic with a pot belly, not shaven, tattered, rotten old man in a more recent script....which, BTW he was great in! BUT....it's not ok for women and we get the role "after a certain age" to be frumpy old grandmas. EXCUSE ME! My mother was 93 when she passes away but she was impeccably dressed. Never went a day without her earnings, makeup and dressed to the 9's. GO FIGURE??? All I have to say is it is time to wake up.

2:16 Whoopi, I disagree with you that Emma's complaint that "sex in film is always so violently performed," is about so-called time constraints, and that "people don't want to see", apparently don't have time for sex with sensitivity and attention. Where do you get that notion about what people want to see? Or do you mean men? Then I'd probably agree with you.
Film is still so dominated by men and their twisted beliefs, and still so dominated by what they think other men want to see. Women and who they are is still largely seen as irrelevant, so they don't know who women are. Male-dominated Hollywood writing continues to produce endless violence, obviously having little talent to write an actual story. It has been a long time since I've watched the violent crap these guys produce. If Hollywood had any brains, had any knowledge about the half of society they currently ignore and/or constantly portray sexual assaults of, THEY WOULD MAKE A LOT MORE MONEY. If Hollywood had any brains, it would hire a ton of women writers and send the males back to their caves.
Really enjoyed the film, Emma, and your performance was wonderful. At the end I thought, "That is one brave woman."

Tired of seeing US talk shows welcome Dame Emma Thompson - with her brilliant intelligence, wit and views of all things in life - and ask her the stupidest questions they could come up with. An Oscar solely for answering with class without cringing.

Hey! Sorry, I'm a bit late to the party...but I get what you are saying. It is/was the same with me. I had a feeling that everybody needed me but nobody wanted me anymore. I'm a mother and a partner, but I've lost 'me' along the way. Well, some months ago I sat my partner down and told him exactly how I felt, and that I feel like I have two little kids and a big one because I'm just his PA, organizing his life as well as my kids'. He said I wasn't interested in him or se+ anymore, and I agreed, because at the end of the day I'm just too tired for a 10min groping session that I get nothing out of. We realized that we are not a couple anymore, but a well-functioning parenting team. So we decided to be just that...and each one of us is free to seek other avenues of fulfillment individually and of course discreetely. It works surprisingly well...ok, it does help that I have my own money and the house belongs to me. Takes a lot off the pressure. But I still love him, as a friend, a partner, the father of my kids. Just not romantically anymore. But we're both there for the kids, and we share our parental duties.
