I think these strikes are perfect for blades with a false edge on the back, or a double edged blade. The ginunting, kris and itak tagalog are perfect for this. I can imagine this would also work for single edged ones like the barong, but the doubled-edged ones have an edge. pun intended.
There's a very much the strike in European historical sword arts .....I'm not good at spelling German words but I'll try ...its called Oberhowe ......usually it's done with both hands on a long sword and it's mostly used to get past the guard of your opponent
