It's not just "sports cars," also hot hatches. EVs simply do not have the lightness. They do not have the pin sharp handling. They do not have the noise. And electric motor battery cars are about as exciting as pushing a vacuum cleaner round .... and they sound quieter and worse than one of those.
I'm ambivalent about EVs. I love my electric mountain bike so I'm ready to be impressed. The problem is the motivation to purchase an electric car has so far, been driven by ecological reasons & demonstrating your eco-cred not any practical advantage. This has worked for the early adopters & they bought their Teslas. Battery tech has really not advanced significantly in decades & until the 50% improvement arrives, EVs will remain niche vehicles. The motivation to purchase a sports car has always been...passion. Sports car buyers are primarily motivated to purchase a new car because of performance (& status). A 5000lb sports car is an oxymoron, hence only 50 Neveras have been sold.
Sports cars should be lightweight and handle well. Because of battery technology, it’s impossible to make an EV sports car that isn’t a) incredibly expensive OR b) extremely heavy.
A few good points here but you make one very serious mistake. The EV Market is dead. The American Car buyer is rejecting them outright regardless of what the government says, and manufacturers are losing billions of dollars each year over them. People are finally wising up to the many deficiencies and dangers of the vehicles. The next step for the future is not EV, but plug-in hybrids that also let the engine charge the battery.

New Tesla 3 Performance is faster than the M3 Competition and the AMG C63, plus is 1/2 the price.

Oops too late it already happened. Keep up! Ioniq 5 N and Rimac Nevera are two.
The Ioniq 5000lbs is not a sports car. It’s heavy and can’t turn for shit compared to a real sports car.
Ionic is not a sport car and Nevera is a hypercar.

No! Too heavy. Completely lacking any soul
Hyundai Ioniq 5N... mass market sports car. Video obsolete
Not a sports car. 5000lbs is not a sports car. That is a small SUV that accelerates quickly, and handled “ok”.
What is this gibberish?
