Do REPTILES play with TOYS???

- I am constantly asked, "Do reptiles play with toys?" The answer, of course, is yes. Reptiles need and deserve enrichment - very simply, it makes their lives better. Please consider treating your pet reptile like your pet dog or cat... you might be surprised how it responds. Reptiles can and will follow commands if taught through positive reinforcement for desired behavior and negative reinforcement for undesirable behavior (such as not giving the desired treat). I have found that people who have the most success training their animals, are also the ones who have spent the most time with them, but in most cases know the least about reptile behavior, and do not have preexisting knowledge of how they should behave. Be kind to your pet reptiles!!!!

seeing the little man running for the toy was so cute
I have always believed animals of all kinds have feelings and experience emotions similar to ours depending on the species. I've learned from you the way you approach them and interact with them makes a huge difference. I'm not saying you can walk up to a Cobra or Rattlesnake and try to be friends you need experience to handle them but having a gentle touch and calm energy gets you further than being aggressive. You've proven that over and over. Thanks for sharing Tom. 🙂❤
Tom, can you do a autobiography type video that covers your contribution to importing exotics and your side of the legal battles related to that? All the old news articles are very one sided and I'd love to know your side! You're an absolute legend in the business! Thanks for your consideration.
That sounds like a phenomenal idea!
Sounds like a more indepth topic for a podcast. Video or podcast I would most definitely be interested in listening too! Great idea informative and so very interesting too! I hope Tom will give it some consideration. ❤️
That's amazing taming a croc monitor like that, but in 6 months is just crazy. Great job Tom. Shows why your a legend.
If there is an OG with reptiles and animal behavior it would be Tom he's a true legend
U need to get Tom a clip on microphone. Alot of men on youtube have them. Such an amazing video. It shows that Tom's animals love him to pieces.

Hope you and the family are doing well, Tom. Haven't gotten a video for a while? Take care.
Tommy used to say that "A deal is a deal is a deal
I just love Rosco! He is one handsome boy! ❤️
Just found this channel from Brian Barczyks channel. So glad I did Tom seems to really know his stuff.
I love the one in the yard
My Savanah monitor will play tug of war with a dog toy that he knows isn't food. They are so smart! With proper care and socialization they are great pets. Your croc monitors are amazing. You have developed a great bond with them.
Love Bill, he's such a gentle giant ❤ The way Rosco came running was so funny! Your animals truly do live a heavenly life.
I haven't known of you for that long of a time but i still in these short time think your a living legend

Love you brother!!!❤
Absolutely incredible!! I’ve been trying so hard to get down there but between work and the distance, it’s tough. I just got my 2nd Ball Python today so I’m starting to feel like I’m now a part of the reptile community. 😉😊🦎🦎
The Gila monsters all cuddled up together😂 those are some contented gila monsters right there.
Love how you do things Tom.
I’m wondering have you never been interested in keeping birds of prey?you have the space for it and you definitely have the skills for it.
Videos like this help to dispel the myths and superstitions about reptiles. Thanks Tom for another excellent video
Omg his little run! How amazing. Just adorable

Amazing work you've done over the many year's that has pioneered reptile keeping for a lot of us..
You're the true GODFATHER ! FACTS !
THANK YOU FOR POSTING ON UA-cam LIKE YOU HAVE HERE LATELY.. I'm 45 been keeping snakes since I was 20 ...I'm still learning everyday.. And I will always keep learning.. We can never stop learning..
Thank you mister ! And your family ...
So interesting, amazing - you have been going since
my year of birth.
Can’t get enough of ur videos sir. Thank u very much for sharing with us. What lizard would u recommend for a paralyzed person sir? I’m a 39yr old paralyzed Marine n want a lizard real bad. I live in Texas so I have an enclosure outside that’s 15’x20’x7’tall.
Tom do you accept visitors? I'd love to go out there and see your beautiful animals. Very fascinating!!!
Bayon, my big Burmese python got me two weeks ago, in my index finger when I offered him a (self bred) rabbit. Could have gone ugly. I'm convinced he did let go when he knew I wasn't his food. Terrible bite marks are the sad reminder and I have to find the trust for him in myself again.
Step by step. I know I don't have to be scared.
I have to change his light bulb.
😬
Take care everyone :) ❤
Absolutely amazing work!! There can be no doubt love is one of the most important parts of caring for an animal. It is awesome to see these enclosures and the animals that call them home. You have created an amazing space, thank you for sharing.
Awesome!❤️
Gosh I just love you guys!!! Legends!!! So cool to see the fam and all the animals happy!!
Great video
Amazing man ,,, very interesting
Heres a thing alot of people have been debating or disagreeing about something ive noticed lately on some of these utube channels is do u think some of our pet reptiles actually feel loved by us and do some certain reptile individuals love us back and do they express love or is it just them tolerating us or just them being comfortable with us because we are a food source for them my bad or because they rely on us for food. I would really like to know your outtake on this subject Tom and Stacey. Thanks brother love all the vids.
I firmly believe our reptiles know who we are they know we live them and I believe they are capable of I hate to say loving us but being very tolerable of us. I know my ball pythons come right to the front of their enclosures when I walk in the room and say hi. I will walk in the door and say how my babies doing today and within a minute they are all there. Even after eating that's how I know they are there at the front for me not food.
Great video very informative
show us the cuban boas !
Love your job brother! Keep it up!!! Much love from Portugal! 🥰
Would love to work with a crocodile monitor some day. It would be interesting to see what they could learn utilizing my behavioral techniques. I envy your facility.
I think they do
i love your work. just curious if all your lizards are rescues? and is it fair to breed these bigger animals for captivity? I must admit your lizards appear MUCH happier than lizards we watch in the wild❤️🌹you are a wonderful animal caretaker that seems to respect the animals’ desires over your own personal ideas. I believe u r a saint among men. your whole family is great😊
Stunning, how often do you feed them? Do you feed 2 rats and 3 chick's once a week, as it looked like it one another video of someone seeing you.
Bryan,kenan,Blake,Tyler,Chandler sent me
And Fred
Sorry Tom I am abit behind on Brian channel but I am really sorry about the break ins and hurt and killing the animals the guy who stole and hurt them should be shoot or the same thing he did to those animals again sorry for your loss Lynda Adams from South Australia Australia xxx
i just saw clints wildlife on croc monitors it was amazing let me ask you a question do you think snakes can feel love or affiction or bonding to humans as well ?
Do you have any predators that would mess with your chickens and those rhino iguanas?
Tom how would I be able to inquire for this I can message you all about the enclosure and details
Main question is this still up on the market ?
Theft is one thing it happens all the time. Not that I agree with it of course. Killing the animals just because you can. That is total wrong & inhuman thing to do. People may do these things just to see other people hurt & suffer because they get a kick out of it. The animal not only suffered So did you & anyone who loves these animals. I can see the expression on your face through out Brian's video. You are hurting very much. I feel sad as well. I hope that dirt-bag who did this can be jailed soon. Take each day as it comes Tom & hopefully your animals will be safe & sound in the future. God bless & have a Merry Christmas. These animals are alot smarter than some folks give them credit for. Ps: I left the same reply on Brian's channel.
Reptiles are a LOT more aware of things in their environment and a LOT more intelligent than most people give them credit for !! My snakes love to go outdoors all spring and summer and they come out in my home and when they get tired of socializing they will go back into their enclosures when they are ready to :) Reptiles should have a great quality of life instead of spending most of their lives locked in a box !!!!

I want to wish you a Happy New Year.
Hi Tom... Love from India...Brian sent me...
Never seen anyone playing with lizards 🦎 so interesting ☺️
Look at those croc monitor enclosures! Those enclosures are fantastic.
Hey Tom, names Doug. I remember back in the late 70 I use to catch rhino iguanas, tegu and monitor lizards that got away from pet farm in medley. We would sell them to chase distributors off nw 72 Ave. After a while Dr. Levine owner of pet farm and Scott his caretaker let us hunt on pet farm property. It was great until pet farm had to move west of the palmetto off 58 st. downsized and more secure. We helped them move. I remember riding in the back of a pickup truck keeping a Galapagos turtle from climbing out while going down the palmetto to Levine's house in south Miami. They also let us wrestle around with a baby puma one time in the warehouse. Those were the good old days and some good memories
There's a video here on YT with the title 'snake plays fetch'.
It is really interesting to see...
Greetings from Germany 😊
They've shown in the wild that crocodiles will "play" by doing piggy back rides, I've also seen videos of them sliding down falls over and over in a way that seems "fun". Snake Discovery's Alligator Rex looooves chasing her balls. I've also seen a channel on here that makes feed puzzles for their tree monitors. It really makes a difference to their mental health and we as keepers need to give them the best. Even my little common musk turtle likes to take dives over and over to amuse himself and they've recently made these "shrimp balls" for them to chase around to eat and play with. He also really likes his plants (which I've notived natural plants tends to really boost reptile morale). I hope you can upload more!
Sent to you by Brian Barczyc and yes I've subscribed 😊
Sent by Brian Barczyk, haha
There's another channel i watch called animal1 guy and his Savannah monitor plays with balls and he will play tug o war with rope toys, he really seems to enjoy it.
Tom let’s go back to all snakes and lizards wether being venomous or non venomous. If you go and grab anyone of them that snake or lizard being venomous or non venomous is gonna turn around and bite the shit out of you sinking it’s teeth or fangs maybe both into you. People that want to have own any of these must be educated with them and handle them gently and if they don’t know and are afraid all they have to do is leave it alone.
amazing stuff Tom, i hope to one day visit and see the bond between your wife and the croc monitor in person
That was awesome 👏
Beautiful monitor
💚
Another great video by Tom and family. I have 6 Green iguanas that I got as hatchlings at a flea market in Northern California.
Almost 2 years now, they are all super tame to me and jump on my arm when I go in their cage to get the food. I did nothing to tame them down but feed them good food and talk to them. As they got older they just got used to me going into their cage and feeding them. They probably just associate me as that guy with food. It's pretty cool to be able to hand feed them and to touch them.
My next purchase is to buy some rhino babies and raise them the same way.
Tom, My Arms are like yours, bandaged from my iguanas and my
Monitor clawing me. I saw those bandages and had to laugh. As I got older, my skin is thinner and, my skin tears easy. Thank you for the exciting videos.
Amazing babies! I love them all! 💚
