Tom, thank you for speaking on this. Such an overlooked part of husbandry some times. I always say, prolonged stress can and will significantly shorten the lifespan of a reptile.

I went into a furniture store that was selling baby leopard geckos and had them in horrible conditions. I bought all 6 of them that day and ended up spending $1000 on temporary housing for them so they would be well taken care of they weren't the best set ups but they were 100xs better than what they were in. I re-homed 4 of them and kept 2. I never once thought about the money I lost because it didn't matter to me. I've kept reptiles since I wad 10 years old and I was in my 30s when I saw the Leo's that day. I have lots of love and respect for reptiles and always took care of my reptiles better then I took care of myself most of the time 😂thank you for all that you do for reptiles

Awesome video, the mental health of reptiles is something rarely thought about. I am glad to see you are starting to post videos again. I look forward to seeing more videos from you. You have a wealth of knowledge that the reptile keeps need. We only have a couple elite reptile keeps on the internet that can give us uneducated keeps the knowledge we need. You sir are one of if not the most knowledgeable people. Please make more videos 🙏.

Thank you for the common sense video. It's too easy for people to disregard the awareness and feelings of reptiles. The mental health of all animals in captivity should be a number one priority.

What do you think about us underestimating the space that snakes and lizards need, like in drawer or tote setups? Wouldnt seem like an animal would get as much enrichment in such a small and enclosed environment

I love you Tom. You are my hero. So many people disregard mental health in reptiles because they don't have any emotions because they aren't capable of things like that... Ugh! You are so knowledgeable about my friends. I am pretty sure that I love my lizards more than I like most people because so many people compare every animal to humans and discount animals because people aren't able to understand the language our animal friends. I think it is so sad that so many underestimate the possibility that animals may have even more thoughts and feelings than humans do. I would love to be able to understand and communicate with especially reptiles like you do or even just a fraction of that. I have so much respect for you it's not even funny. Thank you so much for sharing your wisdom.
