Changed your mind on doing solar?
Always remove the negative first. Less chance of a short out. And put negative back on last.
👍 Correct! It's not intuitive with so much connected to the positive, but you are quite right! Current flows _from_ negative to positive. 😎
Not trolling you just a safety tip. Remove the ground wire from the battery first. As you were unbolting the positve first you could easily come incontact not only with the frame but more importantly the propane tank and that would be a major bummer....maybe even fatal if the wrench were to weld itself to the tank. I don't even want to think about that outcome. Nice install. I am about to do the same and I am hoping I can place the battery in the same area as yours.
👍Awesome, Kurt! I noticed they were on sale and after watching this video I decided to buy this battery!! Thanks a lot✌
Thank you!
can someone please do a head to head comparison of all the new 460ah lifepo4 batteries that are coming out? redodo bird, roamer, litime, epoch, basen, VATRER, power drag queen, etc.. thanks in advance! @@DoItYourselfDad
Thanks for the video, I own two Timeusb 200ah pro batteries for my RV energy storage and they actually produce 230ah, I asked their customer service and they battery actual capacity will be greater than the labeled capacity. Really a great value and have used them for so long They have not had any problems. nice!
Gunna have to play around with that when I get my shunt installed.
Buying the "Plus" version (200ah BMS) of this battery was a great idea. People who want to upgrade their battery bank to a single, larger amp hour lithium battery need to pay attention to the battery specs, especially if their inverter is over 1200 watts.
The battery monitering system (BMS) needs to be able to handle the current your inverter demands. Many of the cheaper 200ah batteries only have a 100ah BMS, which means it WILL NOT allow continuous current draw over 100 amps (1200-1300 watts).
Amps x Volts = Watts. A 200ah BMS will allow the battery to handle 2400-2600 watts of continuous inverter draw. For even larger inverters, you're going to need a higher discharge-rated BMS, or a second battery to share it's BMS discharge capabilities.
Besides just checking spec sheets to see if one's 12 volt converter/power supply is compatible, but if you have to do something to it, to put it in Lithium mode. Mine required making a jumper wire to connect two jumpers on the back. Believe it or not, that was the hardest part of my conversion due to its location. Also, I had to disconnect solar, as the master battery kill switch doesn't remove the solar charging.
How do you know if your present INVERTOR will work with a lithium battery?
Thank you for the video. Blessings to you.
My bms never work right ,put in simple 10.5 volt disconnect for your main concern.
Thanks, hreat vidoe.. im looking for the followup video?
Thanks for the great video.. did you put out how to install solar, cant seem to find the videos ..thanks
thanks freind explained nicley. is it worth going lithium without the solar . just the invertor~
For me, I think it is. It more than doubled my capacity.
Thanks! Very helpful!
You're welcome!
Just checking in to see if you made videos on the solar upgrade and how to run appliances off battery
How's the next phase of the upgrade going? Very interested in your solar project and I really like how you present your video. Thanks.
why is my trailer service company saying i need a dc-dc converter to adjust the charging from my truck to the travel trailer? i did not see one in your setup
I'm not positive, but I think it's more to protect your alternator from the batteries pulling too many amps.
It is to protect your tow vehicles alternator. A lithium battery can take a 200 amp charge till full so it would fry most alternators in a couple of hours
Is a fuse needed between the battery and the converter?
What about when you are pulling the camper....the 7 pin connector has a charge wire in it from the tow vehicle...will the alternator burn up or overwork over time? I can't seem to find an answer to this.
Nope, it'll be fine. It just wont supply enough voltage to completely charge the battery to its full capacity.
Did you ever make that solar video? I couldn't find it.
Really enjoy your videos, informative and easy to understand. Question on inverters. I have a Xantrex Freedom Pro 2000 inverter with 300w solar panel and 2 100 amp group 27 agm batteries. I believe this inverter handles lithium, but do I have to adjust any of the setting on it?
If my travel trailer has a convertor, do I need to change that?
What is your long term impression of the Timeusb Battery?
What size hole did you drill in the floor? I’m guessing 3/4” based on the link to the loom you provided? I was debating between 3/4 and 1” for 2x6gauge wire. Don’t want a larger hole than is necessary.
Hello blogger, the lithium battery capacity of Chinese RVs has reached 12V800AH, and some cars are equipped with 48v200AH lithium batteries. Are there relatively few customized lithium battery manufacturers here? I still don't need such a large capacity battery.
When will the next videos in this series be out?
How do you know if my inverter will support the lithium battery.
If you open up your electrical panel your inverter may tell you on it, otherwise you can look up the number on the inverter.
Why are you referring to an inverter? It's called a "Converter". You even use the word, "inverter" when replying to comments. Suffuce it to say... you've confused the royal shit out of everyone. lol.
Converter, not inverter 👊
I would like to change converter to an inverter
Nice!
How about some fusing directly at the battery? That battery has 5x the potential energy of the battery it replaced. Sounds like a fire ready to happen to me
These batteries have a BMS
Electronics and BMS's can and do fail. Fusing appropriately does help preventing fires.@@DoItYourselfDad
Did you upgrade your charge controller?
Yes, we did. It's linked.
TIP: Check your insurance covers changing to a lithium battery.
Great video! Do you have a link to the tongue box?
Massive...
So this is massive? I mean you said massive 5 times in the first 60 seconds
Massive…. There’s 6
Have you ever seen a lithium battery ignite? If you have you would never mount one under your bed, or even inside your trailer.
I have, these have a BMS to prevent the damage that causes ignition in batteries.
There’s a big difference between Lithium Ion and Lithium Iron Phosphate (LiFePo4). These RV battery upgrades are LiFePo4, which are extremely safe.
Look up a puncture test of LiFePo4 batteries on UA-cam and you’ll see why.
