The Governor needs to be behind bars now.

Since most gun owners carry their weapons in case of a violent crime against them (like 99.99% of them), their firearms are just a physical insurance policy against crime.
Likewise, a fire extinguisher is often carried in a vehicle, legally mandated to be in commercial vehicles, found at camp sites, in garages, in peoples trunks, simply as a physical insurance policy against fire. Do you have a problem with fire extinguishers as well, and feel they should only be kept in the home? Someone could (and have) kill another human with a fire extinguisher.
Epi Pens, in case of Allergic reaction.
Portable defibrillator machines, in case of heart attack.
Insulin, to treat diabetes.
All these things, and many more can be used to take human life, should they be relegated for in home use only?
Of course not. If you go back to a time before any of these things were ever even imagined, much less invented, men killed each other en masse. Even before Swords, the Bow and arrow, even before the first stone tipped spears, man would still kill man with a rock, or even simply their bare hands. Murder and danger are universal, they are not exclusive to guns.
You stand a far greater chance of winning the lottery, or getting struck by lightning than being shot by a legal gun owner.

Technically, all laws in the US are an extension of the constitution. The base document gives a framework of how the government should function, and the amendments are basically 'written in stone' laws. All other laws which are created are measured against the constitution for validity. So technically, shoplifting and jaywalking is violating the constitution. That being said, I'm sure what you meant to suggest is anyone blatantly trying to suspend all or part of the constitution should be removed, and I completely agree.

She technically hasn't violated the law. I'm guessing some would say she violated her oath of office. Many Democrats have come out saying what she is doing is unconstitutional. The courts will most likely deem her actions unconditional as well. Regardless of your political views understand that there are just as many armed Democrats as there are Republicans.

Not only should she be impeached. We need a law that prevents anyone who flagrantly violates their oath and goes against the constitution to be banned from public office and any salary they received while serving would have to be returned in full to the government which provided those payments (local/state/federal).

Grisham felt that this violation of the Constitution was "justified" in her reasoning-so if we had a racist governor, they could justify suspending civil rights too? And then order the sheriffs to arrest people for something that was legal the previous day? How about ANY Constitutional right that they feel is getting in the way of what they want to do?

Its not just about the 2nd amendment; if she can violate the 2nd amendment, what other amendment can she cancel/ violate???, We have a state & federal constitution to obey & nobody gave her the right to cancel / violate any of our rights ! and if the district attorneys & judges would keep the criminals behind bars and stop the revolving door of justice in our state,our crime rate would drop by 50%!
As we've seen in many countries. An "emergency" just wipes away all rights and freedoms, from movement to speech.
She pretty much made her position on rights when she blew them off with "no rights are absolute" and I can get rid of Constitutional rights by declaring a health emergency. People in power got this idea from the tyrannical over reach done by the federal government during covid and you watch, we will be seeing more of this from politicians, primarily dems but Republicans will be trying it as well.
But the governors already did in 2020, 2021 and some into 2022. They selectively infringed on speech, assembly, press and religion. They infringed on 4th Ammendment rights and protections as well. Note that the infringement was VERY selective, allowing mass gatherings and protests for some things, but forbidding smaller gatherings if they were embarrassing for the governors.
They found the public health emergency excuse worked extremely well and withstood lower court scrtiny.
This is a test for the DNC plan to do this in big electoral states where they hold the Governor's office.
NM is easy to sacrifice if it backfires as it only has a handful of electoral votes and congressional seats with just 2M residents.
If all Americans citizens were allowed to exercise their constitutionally protected second amendment rights all crimes would drop 90%.
The second amendment is our law enforcement. We don't need law enforcement officials they exist nowhere in the constitution of the united states of America supreme law of the land.

I love that the media thinks impeachment of Grisham is "drastic and unprecedented" instead of focusing on the unconstitutional and 'illegal' (and it is most assuredly illegal) executive order she just signed, something no other governor in the country has attempted and that the police chief and the sheriff in the impacted area have both refused to enforce. Grisham's irresponsible actions are "drastic and unprecedented", and they should be the focus of discussion in the media, assuming the media was either credible or ethical.

@@melgillham462 show me the part of the constitution that explicitly guarantees you the right to walk around openly displaying a firearm. all she did was say you can't open carry, and that does not violate your second amendment rights, since there's states that ban open carry and that's been upheld by the courts at every challenge.
new york, florida and illinois still ban open carry of handguns and they plus tennessee ban open carry of rifles.
the second amendment does not guarantee you the right to openly carry a firearm. the governor of a state possesses the legal authority to restrict open carry with his or her state.

They need to start a class action law suit NOW, in order to sue a municipality they have to put on NOTICE ( reserve the right to sue) the governor, State and each individual member of their congress. So that if an incident happens to an unarmed citizen, or even worse , a mass shooting, than the Class action suit can go forward. Im sure that if they do this now, their legislators will resolve this and call an emergency Session, Right away. No one wants to be blamed and sued for an armed citizens death. It is so important that this be resolved immediately, It affects ALL AMERICANS. If they, the law makers, dont act, other States will follow, and our american rights will slowly be taken away.

Absolutely, that's how the three branches of the government can check each other. Let's start a lawsuit citing legislators dereliction of duty for failing to craft any meaningful legislation to curtail the fatalities resulting from unregulated use of firearms. Our second amendment grants a well regulated militia to be armed. Where are the regulations?

Will voters actually do the right thing though? She won this state in a landslide. If voters are happy having their constitutional rights violated, then they get what they deserve. My condolences to those who voted against her.

The governor was asked if she thought criminals would follow this gun ban. She admitted NO they wouldn't. She said she was sending a message. She said guns were being concealed and openly carried on every street corner. That's not true, but it would be a good idea. That sends a message to violent criminals. A message they understand, or should. At this time the DOJ has stripped the power of the local APD. They are being punished for being aggressive on criminals. APD arrests the same criminals, even violent criminals, repeatedly, only to be released pending a trial, over and over. This governor removed the national guard from the US / Mexico border when she got in office. She got marijuana legalized. She has severely punished the oil and gas industry. Many small businesses that were shutdown by her covid lockdown mandates have been replaced with Marijuana Dispensaries, not every street corner, but damn near. She is destroying this state and country, like the rest of her cohorts. This is an agenda. If she really wanted to reduce crime, she would be working to get rid of the DOJ mandates and restrictions that have been specifically placed on this same city police department. How about bring back the death penalty. How about put real criminals in prison, not just her political advisories (political prisoner). This mandate does nothing to address gun violence, and she admits it. It sends a message to criminals to do what they want, and she made it easier for them to do it. It's also another tyrant message that she will punish anyone she doesn't like. She does not care about the victims of these crimes, she is using this tragedy to make to pursue an antigun agenda. Screw the constitution and any amendments. She doesn't believe the oath she took applies to her. She will do what she wants until she is stopped.

Oath of office states "...support and defend the Constitution..." It's not up for debate. Get her out and every other politician, law enforcement officer, sheriff, etc. that thinks it's okay to take the oath and then selectively choose what they want to support and defend.

This is ironic and would be laughable if the Governor of the state I live can not show leadership without tyrannical power.
There is no evidence, and the Governor acknowledges this action will not change crime in the state of NM except to have a potential increase in crime due to the fact citizens, now vulnerable, and the criminal knows he has the upper hand.
We can pray to God if it were keeps a parent from carrying concealed and something happens where one of their children or one of the parents are killed by a violent act this will be laid at the feet of the State of NM.
