I love, love, love Citizen and their Eco-Drive movement. Completely bulletproof. However, I wish they would release a model with smaller dimensions. This watch would be absolutely killer at 40mm.
Great video Chris! I've been using the BN0190 for about 8 months. This watch is very underrated in my opinion. The luminosity is crazy bright. The watch is the best value available today (IMHO). Mine is running about 5 seconds fast per month. Try getting that on an automatic watch. Citizen really hammered the compition with this model. Cheers!
I totally agree! I have many automatic watches, but when I want to just pick something up and know that it's accurate and reliable, this is the piece I go for. Thanks!
I have had this watch for a few months and as a former police search/rescue diver this watch is underestimated I saw a few videos where people call it a beater watch ! Seriously! A beater watch? This is a badass watch especially seeing it’s so affordable the lume is amazing!!
Great comparison! I just picked up a BN0191-55L and there isn't very many videos out there on it. You described it perfectly when you said it's a more mature look. IMO, it's an excellent blend of both tool and dressy style. This Citizen is definitely a keeper!
Thanks! I was at first looking at the BN0150, but then I found the BN0190 and I immediately liked it better. It's a more 'mature' looking watch - as you said it would suit a formal setting more than the BN0150 but not be out of place as a tool watch either. The only complication is that they have brought out the BN0200 as well which is in the same vein, but another grade sleeker and more formal looking. Plus it's titanium, which is neat.
I owned the BN0200 for a bit (I ended up giving it to my dad), and I can confirm that it wears much more manageably on the wrist, even though it's similar in size to the BN0190. That titanium lightness makes a difference! Just a heads-up that I see a refurbished BN0200 currently listed on eBay for $158 (I'm not affiliated with the seller--it's just a good deal).
it's important...very important...when reviewing quartz/solar watches to show how the seconds hand hits the markers because consumers do care...AND you do this extremely well! kudos for that! otherwise an excellent review as well! thanks!
Great watches. All around winners.i have the blue one bn150.great quality, nice timekeeping(+4)in over 2 months!!owner of an skx 007 ,i can tell that lume is superb and cant beat it hands down.glows overnight like heaven.cheers.👍👍👍👍👍
I got the 151 as it seems to have a bit more character than the other model, but that's my preference. Saying that you can't really go wrong with either model.
Hi RM, I've got a roughly 6.8" wrist, but I'm a bigger guy. It wore a little large for me, but I tend to prefer smaller watches in the 37 mm range. I don't think it looked massive because it has a slimmer case due to the quartz movement and because divers often wear smaller than their specs would suggest. I'd say, if you have a 7" wrist, it should wear just fine and fairly comfortably.
Thank you so much was a really helpful video. Still torn between the Citizen BN0190 and Citizen BN0151. The Citizen BN0151 looks a bit more like a dive watch with the bezel to an angle. But I will definitely get one after watching this.
Glad I could help! If it helps any more, the BN0190 definitely wears bigger. I have 7" wrists, and the BN0190 still felt like I was wearing a big watch while the BN0151 felt a little more comfortable. If your wrists are larger than 7" though, the BN0190 might be a safer bet.
I did a comparison of the BN0151 to the SSC's with the super lume and the Citizen is slightly brighter and lasts longer (in the short run). The lume has better clarity on the BN0151 too (better screen printing/quality ?).
I'm actually okay without the sapphire crystal. I don't like the glare you get without AR, and with AR, it'll probably be more expensive. I do wish they had a ceramic bezel though!
Chris's Watch Box I am wearing my Chrono A-T right now and it’s sapphire - it doesn’t have AR but the glare is minmul and they go go for $300 gray market; so the cost shouldn’t be that much difference; maybe $1.00 at mfg cost
As a former police search and rescue diver I would prefer mineral crystal over saphire! Yes you get more scratches but sapphire is more brittle and if rather get scratches than a total better if the crystal especially in a bad situation
5:45 "That's not how I typically use the bezel" 😂🤣 Your dry sense of humour would earn you instant citizenship in Denmark! No pun intended, btw. If you're still into lume somewhat, I highly recommend you take a look at Zelos. I got a Hammerhead II and there's 2 things in particular this watch craves. The water and night disco!
I have the BN0191 (blue dial orange second hand) and BN0150 (black dial) so the opposite colors of yours. I personally like the BN0150 better. It is a better size and to me the 20mm lug width works better. I put them both on aftermarket stainless steel bracelets. I also have multiple NATO and leather straps for them. I like the BN0191, but I wish it was a little smaller like 42mm or even 40mm. The watch is large but has a tiny date window, needs to be larger or have a cyclops. The BN0150 wears smaller than it's case size suggests, it looks more like a 40mm or 41mm watch on the wrist and the 20mm lug width makes the bracelets and straps not look so wide. I have 6.75" wrists so the BN0150 fits me better. I do like the BN0191 and it's a classy looking watch but if you have smaller wrists the BN0150 makes a better fit. Both of mine have excellent quality control. The hands line up perfectly, the bezels are aligned perfectly, and the second hands hit every marker. I've read some reviews online about the BN0190/91 watches not hitting every marker but mine is perfect. I can say that my Citizen watches have much better alignment than my Seiko's. I recommend Citizen over Seiko now because Seiko just lets anything go out the door to the customer without alignment checks and that's unacceptable when you are paying hundreds of dollars for a watch from a well-known world class manufacturer. I like leather straps on a dive watch. I only wear a leather strap if I'm going to be in the office or not planning on getting wet. If I'm going to go out on my boat, or to the beach I'll switch to a rubber strap or stainless bracelet. Many of my leather straps and stainless bracelets have quick release spring bars so it only takes a few seconds to swap them out.
Quentin Dergan The BN0190 definitely wears bigger than the SKX009, while the BN0150 wears about the same. The BN0190 could work in an office, while the BN0150 looks a little less dressy. Personally, I thought the BN0190 and SKX were a little too similar to warrant having both. I hope that helps.
@@RaverCJ That's funny, I thought the BN0150 looked more like the SKX than the BN0190. I think I am going with the dressier choice to give myself a little contrast between my diver's.
Quentin Dergan That is funny. Different folks, different strokes, I guess. The BN0190 is great. I think you’ll love it. Just a heads-up (and I’m not affiliated with them), Jomashop is doing a 20% off Citizen sale.
@@RaverCJ Oh yeah! We ordered it last night for $179.10 with the stainless steel bracelet. It's still over $300 at our local mall. XD Thanks for replying and making awesome videos!
Hi Mike, the blue strap is the original strap that came with the watch. Unfortunately, I haven't seen too many for sale. Edit: there seem to be 2 on eBay if you search for BN0151.
The RN issued model BN0000-04H since 2009 quantity 855, but not particularly well received as the crown screw has a tendency to strip... Citizen explored due to cut backs the preferred manufacturer is CWC for divers ... I have a 04H and it's been repaired twice by Citizen under warranty...
@@jpwphotographicstudio3891 I'm surprised the Royal Navy issues the BN0000-04H. The Orange hand on the BN0150/151 is more utilitarian IMO and better suited to diving since the luminous Orange is visible at ocean depths. Someone was sleeping at the Quartermaster's office!!
Why do u keep buying citizen if your not as satisfied with them? I have the blue model and I find in no way that the bezel is hard to grip or turn! In my opinion the citizen like either one of these are better than the skx as you never know with the skx if your gonna have alignment issues! I did enjoy the video but kinda confused with your choices vs opinion on citizen watches?
Most folks don't wear a dive watch for diving anymore, which is why brands like Tudor, Christopher Ward, Omega, etc. ship out some of their divers from the factory on leather. On the other hand, in sartotially-conservative professions like mine (law), a watch often needs to be on steel or leather in the office. Leather is an easy way to tame a tool watch for wear with a suit and tie.
I love, love, love Citizen and their Eco-Drive movement. Completely bulletproof. However, I wish they would release a model with smaller dimensions. This watch would be absolutely killer at 40mm.
Some things between the traditional Seiko and flashy G shock, there is the Citizen promaster. A 🌟 star shine by it own .

Interrupted teeth on a round bezel are inexcusable/illogical...
