THIS is the best explanation of the who and whom issue because most teachers focus on the correct grammar and completely ignore the fact that it actually sounds very pretentious to use whom and you will sound like you just walked out of a Shakespeare play! Most teachers don't take the time to explain this and these days it is so old fashioned and no longer in common use that is actually sounds silly. Doesn't hurt to understand it for formal written documents, but I would personally feel weird going around using whom as if I'm the Queen!

@@Danny-Stylish no, it is wrong. In Spanish you say "quién" as subject and "a quién" as object:
Subject: Quién es ella? Quién está a la puerta? Quién llama? Quién quiere comer?
Object: A quién invitaste? A quién llamas? A quién contaste eso? (Erróneamente dicho: A quién le contaste eso, ya que "le" es dativo y se refiere al acusativo "a quién"). Puedes preguntar correctamente: Quién llamas? Quién invitas?

I figures the difference out years ago because my native language changes stuff according to subject, object, and other factors all the time. I tried to explain it to a native speaker once, but I failed because I saw him use it wrongly several times.
I wished English speakers would still use whom more because it sounds really natural to me.
