The Aceca (A-see-ka) was the hardtop version of the original AC Ace, and came with either Ford or Bristol engines, if memory serves, The Ace became the Cobra when they were sent to the States and fitted with smallblock Ford V8 engines. It is a lovely casting - I have one that I cleaned up and then finished as a car in the paintshop, with filler and primer on it, prior to painting. There's a very good up to date version available from both Oxford Diecast and Atlas. Your blue motor looks terrific! Very sorry to hear about the eye problem, but your positive attitude is a lesson to us all! Get well soon.
Thanks for the information Fraser always welcome, yes I have seen some nice up to date castings and thay look brilliant, but unfortunately you have them all no room 😀 All the best Martin
Nice model to complete, Martin. Great colour choice. That glazing unit came away really easily. And wire wheels - never anything wrong with wire wheels.
You're spoiling us with 2 videos this week Martin. The blue colour looks fantastic and the wire wheels really set this model off perfectly. I'm sorry to hear about your eyesight, your detailing skills are legendary. I hope you receive your treatment soon and all goes well for you. Looking forward to your purchases and donations video next week. Take care, look after yourself and especially your eyes. Very best wishes. Peter.
That’s a great save of a die cast. Superb paint. Yes Car SOS did one and it was worth about £100k after they restored it. Hell of a car. Hope that eye issues is sorted asap for you.
very nice Martin great choice of wheels they really make it pop came out great well done for getting that finished while struggling with your vision hope you get it sorted out soon 👍👍

lookslovely in metallic blue, the shimmering blues enhance the cars' shapes nicely.^^ also, wire wheels rule. AC ACECA. sounds a bit like some dialect "I see, sir!" "We need a good name for this coupe." "I see, sir. We---" "DAS BREEANT WE HAVE A NAME thank you so much, you deserve a raise." "I'm not even working here, I'm just the mailman." "But you should, lad, you should! Have a nice day!"
Thanks Ian ,yes the garage is coming on ,so I thought I would see how it came out on camera with a vehicle on it so hopefully will do some more with future restorations. All the best Martin 👍
Good call on the change of colour Martin and the new wheels really made a difference to the little car ... liking the Diarama photos will you carry on with this idea ? hope so .... Hope all goes well with the eye op old mate and your back 100% very soon ...... I know maybe the wife could fill in while your away and we can all learn to knit 🤣🤣..... All the best, Greg
This looks beautiful in that blue, another transformation and superb restoration, I’ve not seen this model before, so one to look out for in the future!, I hope you can get your eye sorted soon, it must be very frustrating for you, your detailing still looks spot on to me though👌👍😊 Take care, all the best, Nick🐸🐸
Top job, Martin! Much improved with the wire wheels, and the blue is spectacular. I'm sorry to hear about your eyesight. "Ghosts" in your eyesight is no fun, esp. when doing detail work like this. Hope you can keep up the good work.
Thanks Alan, this one definitely needed an upgrade thats for sure ,hopefully thay can sort my eye out ,because it's very frustrating. All the best Martin 👍
Hi Martin ,nice resto on the aceca car,I normaly do commercials but am going to try a car or two,ie dinnky police zodiac and merceds pullman ,sorry to hear about your eye problem ,hope they sort it out for you bfn
Lovely Restoration Martin, can’t believe how well the screen came up. Also love the detailing, how did you sort the grill out?. Sorry to hear about your eyes, but hopefully they will get them sorted for you .
Thanks Gary, the grill I went in with a shaped wire wheel to start with then a knife to straighten the grill ,paint and a black wash to finish. All the best Martin 👍
Love that blue had a brand new Ford focus in a similar blue ,was AC the company that made the cobra ,we are all here for you mate All the best my friend Mark 😊😊 Ps what was for dinner 😊
Not a bad resto,Martin, better than that silly Citroen you did recently/The wires add to the look of the model,i've done the same with a Corgi DB4 Aston Martin, also using bond wheels.BTW it's pronounced A see ka,
Thanks Terry, yes it definitely had to have a set of wires on it ,I tend to save as many wire wheels as possible for these types of occasions, all the best Martin 👍
Hi mate I saw that episode of Car SOS I didn't think there were that many AC ACECA left but nice to know there still around. Sorry to hear about your good eye having trouble but glad to hear they can fix it easily it's always something isn't it. The golden years have come at last the golden years can kiss my A#@.😂😂🤣🤣The AC turned out beautiful if this is the type of work your tuning out with bung eyes there is no hope for the rest of us.😂😂I certainly haven't seen any drop in quality of your work they are all turning out better than they came out of the box. I took the Rebecca the MGA out for a spin the other day up in the hills. It was running really well then just stopped and wouldn't start. Luckily I have a set of tools on board and after half an hour of mucking around I found that somehow the points had slipped and it had no gap. So I reset it and put the distributor back in and crossed my fingers and 🤞🏻... It started good as new. When I got home I put a bigger spring washer on the Philips head screw that holds the points in position so hopefully it wont happen again.😡 Good luck with your Lasor treatment mate👁🗨👁🗨 I'll be thinking of you. Catch you on the next.👍🏻
Hi Geoff, iam glad you didn't get stuck out on the road with Rebecca, I remember those days carrying a full set of tools in the boot ,going on holiday I take tools in the boot suite cases on the back seat ,🤣🤣 and a empty beer can and jubilee clips incase the exhaust blows wow those were the days. All the best Martin
Martin Thanks for all the knowledge I had a cream one won it from Shredded Wheat coupons . The stripper you used is Eco 100 paint stripper Chemclean, they don't sell stripper anymore what's a good alternative ?
Wishing you all the best as you deal with your vision issues. That car turned out so well--pat yourself on the back! Just one question. I see elements of the Aston Martin and the MGB in the design--am I seeing things or am I correct?
Hi Martin, love your videos, you mentioned Bob Willis in this one, is he okay, I haven't seen anything posted from him in nearly a year, he always did great videos like yourself, Steve New Zealand.
Hi Steve thanks for watching, unfortunately I haven't heard anything of Bob, but I would say he is spending time looking after his wife as she wasn't to well. All the best Martin
There are basically 3 codes technically paint change is a code2 and any body mods is a code 3 People just use the code 3 to let people know its not original factory spec All the best Martin 👍
Hi Martin as a relatively new subscriber I am catching up on your videos from way back and really enjoying watching. Just seen the FAB 1 and was wondering if you have done any of the UFO TV series models by Dinky such as Mobiles or interceptors. Loving seeing a lot of the models you do from when I was a kid. All the best Chris 👍
Interesting one Mart, I've never heard of these before.
Cheers Jon, iam glad I have shown something you haven't seen ,it's a nice casting 👍
