It's good to see a Model Restorer put the time and effort into the preparation for paintwork. That finished model looks excellent. Furthermore, that paintwork is not going to start falling off.
Oh I want to find this casting actually a few of them. I'd like to do one in Cortez silver and then a brighter silver. A light blue silver then a midnight blue would look fantastic too. So many color combinations you could do.
Thanks for the comment Chris P. Bacon, we think you have the best name ever! You are completely right, there are so many great color combinations you could come up with. We will certainly do another one soon.
That's a fabulous addition to your collection Alejandro. Would love to see what other classic Dinky's you have. Stay tuned as we have many more great restorations coming out of the shop.
Thanks for the awesome comment phoenixman, I know some of the older Dinky Toys had no interiors in them. We have a restore video coming soon where we have two Corgi Toys 63 Corvette Stingrays that have interiors that I detailed differently to suite the cars exterior paint schemes.
With your attention to coachwork fettling and painting I think the model looked better than as sold when new. If you wanted to go crazy the front valence panel between the back of the front bumper and the bottom of the radiator grill should be body coloured - this would not be as per original spec of the toy but would conform to the real car.
Thank you very much for the awesome comment David. Yes you can definitely add more detailing to the model, I sometimes pull back to try and leave as much of the factory look as possible. You are right though those extra details would suite this model for sure.
Hi , i like your complete restoration of diecasts. You are using (Decoart) or other acrylics but i cannot see the mixture for using it in an airbrush . Can you tell me something more about that process? Or showing it in the next video? Thank you in advanced! Greetings from Holland.
Hey there, yes I thin out the acrylic paints simply using water and mixing it very well. I really do not use a formula such as a ratio like 6 parts paint to 1 part water because all acrylic paints can be different in there thickness. You just experiment to find the best consistency that will work with the paints your using and the setup on your airbrush gun. You do not want your paint to thin or not to thick.
Thanks for replying , i am trying to find my way in airbrushing with several paints , also with the clear coatings and watertransfers on acrylic . Looking forward to the next upload 👌
Today 3/6/22 I stated restoring this same rolls pat.in10/26/59 ,I plan to add fender skirts and paint gold leaf . Tell me is testers paints still in business? I found my 25 year old testers paint kit in my attic .Is this your first restoration ? You should drill out the rivets .
Hi 50s Lover, thanks for commenting. yes Testers Paint is still very much available at hobby stores. I will drill out rivets on some certain diecast models but not all as I like to keep the older toys more to their original factory settings.
