    Hey, that is also a nice way to gain access for a super XL thorough car cleaning operation. And doing dielectric grease on the connectors.
    Charles, it is a really valuable lesson just to learn how to unmount and remount parts on a car in a proper way.

    Thanks for this!👍🏾 I can't lie I find VWs to be over engineered, I don't find the majority of the rears overly complicated or impossible.

  • @Mr_Everyman

    You did that the hard way, only 2 bolts need to be removed, one on top that is the center hinge pin that is vertical from the bottom up and the lower inside bolt that you removed after opening the door. The upper hinge sections both stay on the door. It would be great if you would make a video showing that to people. You also do not need a second person the way I mentioned as the door can't fall off until you walk around it and lift it from the alignment pins.

    In the dealership world, what would you do if you needed a second hand for something(such as removing a door)? Would you just call the mechanic in the next bay over to help out for a second?

    Humblemechanic, isn't there an easyer way? Atleast i had mark 4 golf, and there was only one small screw that was under top hinge, you remove that and the door comes off, you don't need to realighn hinges afterwards. I'm sure it works for front doors, but cant remember if back had the same system...

    Top hinge... why not just remove the 6mm bolt that lurks underneath? So much simpler than arsing about undoing the 2 main bolts. After that, it's as you were!

    Why my door makes crack sounds?

  • @richardwitney4615
    @richardwitney4615 5 років тому +1

    Must say I'm disappointed. After watching this I ordered a M8 bit (£21 later!) to swap the rear door on my mkiv golf to get it through the failed MOT to find it's too small and should be an M10! Now I don't have time to get another so that's another £100 for the garage to do it. Not great when I have a new born child to support. Really must be more clear on advice given.
