New York, NY -- December 3, 2011 New York's Madison Square Garden, the pride of Caguas, Puerto Rico MIGUEL COTTO finally got his redemption by stopping his rival Antonio Margarito in the 10th round. Referee Steve Smoger at the advice of the doctor, stopped the fight when Margarito was unable to see from his right eye.

Margarito was clearly winning the last rounds Cotto was starting to look discouraged and gassed out just like the 1st fight! He would have been knocked out if it continued!

Let us not forget. When they first met Cotto was seemingly unstoppable and a knock out artist. He got destroyed by Margarito and Cotto took a knee disgracing himself. Let us remember he was winning the fight last time but thought he could go toe to toe. This time he hung on for dear life and was headlocking. This was not revenge nor a vindication. Cotto was protected by the doctors and was awarded a TKO and did not earn a KO. Look at his face. it looks like he hit a windshield.
His face looked the same as the first fight. It seem that if the doctors wouldn’t of stopped it the margarito was going to go for the kill.

So, some Margarito nut huggers feel that boxing should count facial marks, instead of strikes? Cotto vs Margarito 2, Cotto clearly won. So, we hear: If Margarito had one more round, he would have won. Well, every fighter that loses their fans can say, the winner is lucky ,one more round and he would have lost. Plain and simple. Margarito lost, period, just like Cotto lost the first time around, period. Margarito made it very, very, very clear, that his eye, was not going to be an issue and that there is no excuse for Cotto and that he was going to beat him, again. Now that Margarito loses, using the eye excuse? Margarito carried himself like a macho man, when he won, because he did win , the first fight now carry yourself like a macho man, when you lose. That goes for Margarito and his fans.
But it was a setup. Those "doctors" were there in case a replay of the fight was about to occur, which it obviously was.

For me, the main difference was that he set his feet when punching, instead of punching whilst moving backwards. And after he landed his shots he either tied Margarito up or turned his man whilst keeping a high guard, whereas in the last fight he landed a combo and backed away with his hands low. Oh, and the hand wraps! ha

He quit in the first fight when Miguel was undefeated and margarito was in his prime. This is years later margarito had almost 50 fights and coming off two beating to Mosley and paquaio and had a crushed orbital in the latter.
Cotto said margarito was stupid for fighting like that he he puts his health and safety first.
Levels to being a warrior in the sport
In the last fight, Cotto ran out of gas around the 7th round. Thats when Margarito boxed it out. Margarito has great stamina and a chin of steel. I do believe he could have lasted the last couple of rounds, but I dont think he would have won.
You can say Cotto was running, but I think he was boxing smart. Keeping Margarito in circles so he cant corner him but throwing nice shots in there. Though he was tired, he would have won. Even with the last couple of rounds.
I'm happy with the fight.

To be honest margarito came with same game plan as he did for the first fight the ONLY difference was the pacquio affects that left on margarito's eye that played the changing factor that caused the fight to finish early as magarito defiantly had a chance in the rematch as cotto was running out of gas towards the last fight but cotto to came more prepared and condition .. My opinion and I am a cotto fan but more of a realest...

Good win for cotto.Stood his ground from time to time, and boxed beautifully.My only thing i didn't like, was that he still has the habit of leaning forward and taking unnecessary punches.He should work on stamina and clinching also.There's rumors saying he might fight chavez next.Though i wouldn't mind seeing it, i would prefer canelo.I think it would be more of an entertaining fight.

Cotto will never be considered on of the greats in Puerto Rican Boxing. Puerto Rican boxers were and are warriors. That is why Mexican and Puerto Rican matches are watched. They are usually wars. The first fight between these two was a classic because they went balls out. This time Cotto was wearing down as usual and became a UFC fighter with all that clinching/bear hugging
and dirty tactics.
margarito is proven a tough guy who hits hard. yeheyy! congrats to cotto for doing an intelligent fight. He made a right decision using boxing while backing and running away. No one can stand Margo toe to toe in 154lb.

Even though Cotto's face is bruised in this fight there's a BIG difference between the damage here and the damage he took in the first fight. He looked like he had been through a meat grinder in fight one.
