It's evil that people upload that kind of content to this site. I almost went blind looking for yoga videos. The first video that came up was inappropriate and had tons of views. And when im using youtube on the playstation format, the search shows you suggestions before you're done with typing, and I saw something with a potentially very inappropriate thumbnail. It's disgusting that people upload that content to youtube, and it's disgusting that it's prevalent and the people wanting something done about it get punished. If people want to view that crap, they will go looking for it on the correct platforms. But please, make UA-cam a safer place for everyone! That's the end of my Ted Talk.

Many content creators (Watcher, Try Guys, Dropout, etc.) are moving to their own streaming services....I wonder if a bunch of youtubers 'unionised' onto a new platform (like entirely new, I guarantee there are people with the knowledge and expertise to make one) they could just unalive UA-cam. Imagine a bunch of original creators, and then a bunch of commentary channels to commentate on the original creators, and the room for new people to start creating.

It's similar to Mastodon if you know how that works.
Basically, anyone have run a Peertube server, and you can follow people even when their account is on a different server than yours.
When I was a minor and blocked from looking at adult sites by my parents, I would type in all sorts of lewd terms into youtube to watch these types of erotic 'educational' videos, so I know very well just how many videos like this exist. Looking back, it's disgusting that these videos were geared towards minors

Can we address the fact that the "if you find a loophole, you might as well use it" position is bullshit. The people who make UA-cam are at fault for not properly moderating the site, but the people who exploit the bad moderation 100% have fault of their own.

Not exactly the same, but i once got copyright striked for my own music. It was posted on my channel and on youtube music. I tried to appeal it and it got denied so i had to take it down from my own channel. Insane.
One thing I'd do to change this is that if transparent clothing was shown in a title, they'd get age restricted or at least get checked out
This situation kinda reminds me of the Elsagate videos from 2017. Where UA-cam did nothing about it for a long time, the ONLY reason why UA-cam did something about it was because ads were pulled from UA-cam themselves.

One of my videos (this is not a flex) has 68K views and 1.6K likes. This video (at the time of commenting) has 12k views and 2K likes. That proves the sheer quality of August's channel. Keep going man.
"It is better to rule by fear than by love." Meaning that you can’t control who loves you no matter how hard you try, but when you have power its easy to make people fear you.
The nuance of this type of thought is where problems start. What if you fear someone more than they fear you? YT is clearly hesitant to strike blatant “educational” nudity for fear of some reprisal, but they know that people like you that respect the rules are easy to keep in line.
No simple answer there, though. Maybe join the club and Randy Marsh it then tag it educational

There are thousands, if not millions of such playlists. Not only not age restricted, but oftentimes the "ballerinas" or "chiropractor patients" or whatever cloak they use are themselves not even adults.

UA-cam isn’t blind, there is no reasonable system that involves screening all *new* uploads, much less all existing data and all new uploads.
They rely on the density of complaints within time windows - unfortunately that means popular channels will be wrist slapped for things thousands of more obscure channels do, as you mentioned, often covering the same material or the same material plus some way outside the guidelines bonus material.
It’s not quite cable access vs primetime, but kind of. Aside from being one of the only approaches that makes any sense at scale, if the aim is harm reduction - genuine or just the legally actionable ‘harm’, either way - it makes sense to pay attention to the clusters of complaints and address those first and foremost. That’s the largest exposure to the greatest number of eyeballs.
Aside from a city’s worth of inexhaustible content screeners watching all videos top to bottom and making individual judgment calls, how would you want it done, or how do you wish they approached it?
Also women doing weirdly sexual things on a public platform does not get reported with the same vigor or… unanimity 😂 … that almost every other category of violation does.
Despite having no redeeming qualities or even debatable suitability for the platform, they’re not making the radar in the first place.

Curious about your brainstorms on other ways to approach content moderation. It’s obviously a shitshow at the moment, but I think it may be - at least for now - the cost of instantaneous uploads.
It sounds a little worse than the current situation to me to have delayed publishing, in order to let yt run everything through their threat detection systems before it’s available for viewing.

This is a better pill for me too. I've had my UA-cam channel for 20 years and One day I tried to go on to UA-cam and everything was deleted. I had an email saying that I lost my channel because of a child something something because my eight-year-old went in his room and made a video with his shirt off just like boys do.. nothing's suggestive at all and not a single copyright strike and all of the 20 years I've had a UA-cam channel. Over a hundred subscriptions.. All of my playlists and my downloads.. All my karaoke songs and videos I've put in my watch later for 10 years.. just all of it gone. Then they say that they have a computer looking over it. We're talking about the last 20 years of my life. Do you think maybe we can get a real person to do it? I don't want to leave the fate of my channel in the algorithm. Not to mention it was a innocent mistake that could have at least gotten copyrighted.. so August should consider himself lucky that he got a strike instead of losing his entire channel because he actually has something to lose! But I completely agree with absolutely everything he said. Especially since this is still fresh with me. It happened a month or two ago.. Right when I was getting kicked out of my home after 8 years of abuse.. It felt like UA-cam wanted to join in on the punching.. Dude, the worst hit by these loopholes is precisely the educational sector of UA-cam. Im subbed to many, many different animal behavior, husbandry, etc. eductional channels for a wide variety of species and the common trend is they are forced to censor things like the birth of livestock, their pet dog's butthole because it just so happened to turn toward the camera, medical applications on animals (not even human ones, as that's a whole different thing). I'm not talking about a gorey mess, but maybe something like a blister or any teeny amount of red liquid, whatsoever. Even when these channels exist purely for educational purposes, they've all been stricken and punished for it. It really chaps my ass.

I am so glad he is bringing awareness to this, I made a UA-cam channel before this one same character, same kind of content, and my account immediately got terminated, and when I checked why it was marked under nudity, I made an appeal, didn’t go anywhere, obviously And I was confused, not only is my character, a husky, but he is also wearing clothes, I’ve literally seen Contant creators post way worse dirtier nastier things, heck, I remember at the age of 12 I came across this ad when trying to watch a video about Viagra, and it was going deep into description about pleasure and your women and what not. Still traumatized from that because all I was trying to do was watch a four minute music video. So I’m glad that he’s bringing this up because it does need to be talked about and it does need to be addressed and I swear if UA-cam tries to take this down they know what they’re doing and now they’re just trying to shut people up

I don't know why they keep fighting it... You can't close every loophole, there's too much video uploaded daily to human review it all, and AI catches either nothing or way to much in its reviews... Why not allow everything that's legal and use a self reported and community moderated rating system where each account can set its own limits and search parameters, and kids/not signed in can only view the equivalent of Rated G? Heck, they could even use TV or movie ratings, and show the relevant rating on the thumbnail.

UA-cam has been inconsistent in enacting their guidelines. Let's hope for some improvement in the moderation and verification systems, but it seems more about revenue than community standards these days.
