This was very interesting and educational about Dominion Rules. Would love this being a part of future seasons, whether converting a character or rolling a new one. Feel like I understand Dominion a lot better having seen the loose translations from Savage Worlds. 👍
Thank you for this. I always find it interesting to see how a system portrays it’s characters. Fingers crossed that Edbert’s adventures will continue long enough for us to learn the system.
I love the fact that this system uses D12's... This is the first system I've seen that does that! Can't wait to see the next episode, I can tell that Edbert's campaign is going to have a lot more combat if the last episode is anything to go by! Hope your Christmas went well, Trevor.
I'm about to start Season 3 finally and I'm excited to see what happens. I'm a big time systems guy so I'm interested to see how Dominions Rules works. It looks...a little clunky maybe? Weirdly named stuff, lots of numbers everywhere. But I'll try to reserve judgment until I see it in action. The timing stuff from this and the Sage's Library video have me interested in that part at least!
Hey Trevor. I'm a long time fan of the series and I can't wait to see what Edbert has gotten himself into this season. I'm thinking about playing a game using Dominion Rules and was hoping you might be able to help clarify me on movement during combat. What phase should it occur in. My instinct says it should happen during the Resolution phase, but, as a Defensive skill, it is assumed to take place during the Modifier phase. Any wisdom you may have is appreciated, and I can't wait to see this system in both my own game and Season 3!
It's covered on pages 7-8 and 7-9. Regular movement is declared in Strategy and performed in Resolution, but Sprinting or Retreating, if successful, occur in the Modifier stage (if Retreating fails, it happens at the *end* of the Resolution phase).
Trevor! Please consider doing a character/story recap before you're too much into this season. Here's the deal...I found you in Ironsworn so I had no idea about Arne's background until I started season 1. Honestly, the game for season 1 wasn't my thing, so I didn't watch it all, just enough to know Edbert was a bit crazy in the head because of a ghost haunting him, but that's it. You might have more people discover you this season and it would be good for them to know a bit more of Edberts background. Love the channel and your work! I wait with bated breath for the next episode!
I'm not a writer, but I guess this is better than not knowing anything. MASSIVE SPOILER FOR SEASON 1 Edbert was a soldier/mercenary. One day he was hired by the leader of The Order of the Purifying Flame (called Cherilyn) to track a necromancer in the mountains, but accidentally started an avalanche that killed both the necromancer and Cherilyn. Cherilyn came back as a ghost to haunt him, preventing him to have a restful sleep for years. She wants Edbert to atone for killing her. He was at an inn in Hundatora (a coastal city) when he was accosted by Simon of Argoston (the main character of season 1) to explore the Temple of Thur'Zaan, a temple dedicated to the undead. Edbert jumped on the occasion, hoping to discover something to help him get rid of Cherilyn's ghost in the temple (it's a temple of the undead, Cherilyn is a ghost... why not?). They did discovered a magic bow (called Stonebolt), which became the main weapon of Simon of Argoston. I'm skipping a lot of adventures, but at some point, Zyr-Ator (the necromancer of the Temple of Thur'Zaan), possessed Cherilyn's ghost, attacking Arn and forcing Simon to fire the magic crossbow at Cherilyn, making her disappear temporarily. She came back a few hours later to the great displeasure of poor Edbert. Skipping more adventures, but weeks later Simon, Arn and Edbert(with Cherilyn) find Simon's father and Cherilyn attacks the father (for reasons I'm not getting into), forcing Simon to fire once again the magical crossbow Stonebolt, making her disappear temporarily again. However, when Trevor thought she might come back (and rolled for it) the result was an "Extreme No", so she didn't appear for the rest of Season 1. But we know that Stonebolt is not powerful enought to make her disappear completely... You will also need to know that The Order of the Purifying Flame is an order dedicated to the eradication of necromancy and the undead (which is interesting because the leader herself is now a ghost). They think that Edbert killed Cherilyn and are hunting him down to punish(kill) him.

Carlos has no friends, just love
Converting a beloved character seems like a great way to gain a sense of a new system.

Oh man, Edbert was my favorite guy from season 1! If he's the protagonist of season 3, then I need to hurry up and finish the last bit of season 2!!!!
I'm finding it particularly challenging converting D&D stats and creatures (a/c, hp, saving throws ect) into Dominion Rules.
I've resorted to interploguesstimation...lol
Whatever works! In the end, it all just comes down to instinct and preference anyway :)
This is one of my favourite things about your channel using multiple resources
Thanks Trevor! I hope you had a great Christmas with your family and that 2022 will be a great year! Super excited for the next videos!
Merry Christmas Trevor!

At last, the D12's time to shine
I loved the convention Trevor!! I only would say that Edbert is less lucky than average hahaha, as he is literally haunted by a gost.
Hey Trevor, how about a quick tour of the new studio? I'd love to know about the walls behind you. Great video!
Nice, it is interesting seeing how you did the "conversion" from SW to Dominion. I'm really looking forward to Ep2.
It's great to finally know how to spell his name, because I've definitely been spelling it Egbert xD
Fascinating video
Loved the insight into your process.
Thanks for going through the process. That armor penalty seems real rough…
Liked simply for the Fiend Folio Githyanki cover art shirt!
9:44 - Cherilyn looking over your shoulder??

I have to say, this d12 based system has definitely piqued my interest. I wonder how well a d100 system would convert to d12?
Sorry if I missed you discussing this previously, but was there a reason you switched systems?
It’s what I do. Season 1, Savage Worlds. Season 2, Ironsworn. Season 3, DR. Season 4….???
(Comes from a lifetime’s worth of RPGs in my library!)

I've got to ask. Who is Edbert? What did he get up to in season 1?

@@YannMiollan you're a hero. Thank you so much.
Please get Edbert to send more weapons. My countrymen could use them. You know who this is. Marcello says "Hi" BTW.
All the best people are left-handed. Just sayin'.
