    I appreciate the high protein recipes. I've never been a meat eater and my mom's way of dealing with that was an extra roll or mashed potatoes, which led to weight gain after a sports injury stopped my figure skating. Old habits suck, so it can still be a struggle, keeping cooked, seasoned shredded super firm tofu in the fridge to add to stuff helps. Love seeing new things to try, so I appreciate you lots!

    Tempeh is great but idk how to make it healthy. I'm Indonesian btw. We generally slice them kinda thin like 1 cm max, make slits, then soak them in a shallow marinade of salt, crushed garlic, and coriander seeds powder, sometimes turmeric powder for color, at least 20 mins, depending on how thick you cut them. And then we deep fry them (hence the shallow marinade). This is the simplest recipe I know and love. Some put it into soups (coconut milk based called lodeh) without any pre-marination and just let it absorb the flavor of the soup. But my favorite is the deep frying!

    Honestly, by 5 times of trying something that you don't like (in different ways) you're probably just gonna start wasting food and money. It's okay not to like things.
    What I like to do is try new things within context of things I already know I like and try with someone who I know is less picky than me. That way, if I don't like it, the food most likely won't go to waste

    • @acapituzinha
      @acapituzinha 8 місяців тому +3

    • @sweetie_babie
      @sweetie_babie 8 місяців тому +1

      @acapituzinha if I don't like something I'm not gonna force myself to eat it. With some things, that would require me gagging through it. I'd rather give it to someone who would actually enjoy it or at least be neutral to it.

    the oatmeal cookie one inspired me, because I had one maybe overly ripe banana in dire need of being used or thrown out.
    I used 1 banana, 6 tbsp peanut butter powder, 1 scoop of vanilla protein powder, 1/2 cup of kodiak protein oats, 1/4 tsp baking powder, a pinch of salt, a dash of cinnamon, 1/2 tsp of vanilla, 2 tbsp of sugar substitute, and 2 tbsp of mini chocolate chips, because if i'm not going to have a little fun, what's the point?
    I divided that into 4 cookies and baked them at 350F for about 15 minutes
    and got 165cal per cookie with 26.4g of carbs, 4.5g of fat, and 11.2g of protein
    Good in a pinch if you're having hella sweet cravings!
    I have GOT to try those tofu cubes! I still need to try the silken tofu mousse you made in another video, i just have a harder time finding it around me. 💜

  • @zachcain2639
    @zachcain2639 7 місяців тому +3

    I don’t get the math on those cookies. You said 29g protein per cookie but the only protein comes from PB powder which you said was 18g protein total. So that’s like 9-10g protein per cookie

    Oooh! You also have the as I call it "E.T. spaceship" air fryer 😂 My air fryer is in dire need of an upgrade. It's officially 10 years old. Did anyone else think we got a silhouette moment from Merle at 2:49 but it was just her clothes and hair making her look like a shadow? 👀 I think tofu often gets a bad wrap because they have very soft tofu and admittedly it's not my favorite either 😅

    I'm not sure I'd call the veggie burger high protein exactly. The first reason is that the mixed nut flour is probably ridiculously high in calories, the second reason is that beans, while relatively high protein while raw, need to be consumed in surprisingly high quantities to get sufficient protein while cooked. The veggie burger is too small, especially with the added onions and bell peppers, to provide a lot of protein, imo.

    • @barbaralevine9048
      @barbaralevine9048 8 місяців тому +1

      A black bean veggie burger is great, and as a vegan I’m happy to enjoy a burger now and then, despite the add ins… which in this case are all healthy whole foods, good for our bodies. You are complaining about the seeds and nuts which adds a healthy fat but make no mention of the fake cheese or the huge pile of avocado. Weird criticisms for a healthy burger recipe. Better than beyond or impossible!!

    Merle, could you possibly make high-protein red lentil desserts?
    Practically, your favourite tofu desserts dishes, swapped out for red lentils, in substation, with your own twist added to it.
    The reason why I’m writing this, is because I have a soy allergen, not a fan of protein powders, not the greatest cook either, and I know you can pull off a great video of it, as you usually do.
    Also, I like when you make videos with Rachel, you should make more videos with her, if you can. Just some feedback, from a bloke that thinks you’re entertaining.
