@@amandaletcher1320I was one of those kids, God damn it. HOURS spent traveling from Magicant to the Sea of Eden repeatedly to fight, I think, only three Krakens? And then having to start over again when they were all dead. Burn in Hell, Nintendo.
While true, I think it's a good weapon to be stuck there. Having so much in the way of Guts turns Ness into what is practically 300% chance to crit and 110% chance to live every hit
One tip that many people forget is that Jeff's Spy command can also find items from enemies. It works the same way as items dropping, though, so you can't Spy an enemy for the item and then kill them for a second chance: if that enemy wasn't going to drop the item, you won't get it by Spying, either. However, Spying does allow you a chance to get the item without actually fighting the enemy. So annoying enemies like Chompasaur or Bionic Kraken can be made a little faster by just Spying.
Earthbound being Earthbound, I was halfway expecting there to be secret code in the game that made it impossible to get all the 1/128 items in the same playthrough.
So I’m confused. I hunted for the sword of kings, got it in less than 40 encounters, then I got a SECOND one unintentionally. But when I tried to hunt for the goddess ribbon, it took over 900 encounters just to get the WRONG DROP.
holy crap i used to watch your old theories you did a decade ago & if i remember correctly you would occasionally use a sarcastic voice to say BUUUUUUUUUUT PROTO
You cannot grasp the true form of Earthbound's RNG! 158 points of brain damage to Ness. Paula felt dizzy. Jeff got hurt and collapsed... Poo felt a little strange.
I'm currently halfway through my 1/128 and taking a short break. Doing the run with no speeding up of the gameplay (playing on NSO) and Manly Fish's Brother is taking a while.
While I never did the full challenge I did once grind for all the ultimate gear. This was at a time where the online guides were not very good and I will never forget that some stupid guide said that the Ego Orb was who dropped the Broken Antenna. The Ego Orb is a rare spawn that appears in the same area as the Chomposaur. Eventually I had multiple Magic Frying Pans but no Broken Antenna and I said "Okay something is clearly wrong here." Thank goodness I found a different guide with the correct information in it and got it quickly after.
Watching this makes me realize I've gotten most of these drops. Just over many different playthroughs over time without trying for them except for the Sword of Kings one time, lol. Can't quite recall if I ever got the Gusty Bat though.
I remember doing this challenge myself a few months ago. Those damn Dali's Clocks took me about 400-500 encounters (I lost count). Ness and Jeff were like, level 70 at the end of it. I have the image of Moonside permanently burned into my brain. Seeing you get it so quickly is... something. (Definitely not seething with jealousy right now)
I grinded out all the temporary drops like the Sharks and Department Store enemies. I typically grind out the Sword of Kings and broken antenna. Never seen the Gutsy Bat drop.
This tip doesn't help you out too much, but when you have multiple enemies that perhaps could drop the same item you could use Jeff to Spy on the enemy and he'll see a present behind the enemy. Hope this tip could help out someone.
On my most recent play through, I was in deepest darkness on my way to the volcano sanctuary, as I was right in front of it I got Paula's Ultimate weapon without even trying. So I equip it and walk towards the cave again and immediately get a second one on the very next enemy. lol
Me getting only the sword of kings and the broken antenna. I wanted to attempt to finally get the star pendant and the gutzy bat, but it's just too much man.
I haven't done the 1/128 challenge yet, but I have grinded for days on end trying to get the gutsy bat. I went half insane and was having dreams about it.
I’ve been at the Stonehenge Base with Ness since at level 30 and I’ve spent hours trying to get the Sword of Kings and still no luck. I just kept fighting until I gave up and I came out with Ness being at level 85 and the rest in the low 80’s.
its insane that a "1/128 chance" still might not happen, even after twice as many attempts (or even up to 350+, apparently)...but i wonder what the Average would be, given that there were a lot of Lower numbers (like ~50 attempts) to balance it back down...
I didn't realize there were so many 1/128 drops, a lot of them don't really seem worth it LMAO. The only one I've ever tried going for is the Sword of Kings, and the last time I played it took me five days of off and on grinding. Miserable.
when I was grinding for the sword of kings I used the tower with the long ladder like right before the maze next to the boss room. this let me quickly get enemies off screen because I wanted to do it legit without savestates and it only took like 50 or so tries
What the heck, I’m doing this currently it’s probably my 13th play through Stuck on Musica currently in the Fourside dept store, and I’m roughly 25 hours in. I was repeating the same method, so glad you posted this today, wow the luck haha. Great run!!
4:50 i assume you meant to put "you should NOT try winning", right? also personally i think the only item that's worth grinding for is the sword of kings, since it's poos ONLY weapon
I'm confused by the Moonside enemies being considered permanent. Surely they're temporary because once you finish Moonside, you can't go back? Or am I just missing something lmao
the gutsy bat being stuck in the cave of the past is so cruel
Not to mention the strategy guide got the enemy that drops the gutsy bat wrong i feel so bad for the kids who tried doing that
@@amandaletcher1320I was one of those kids, God damn it. HOURS spent traveling from Magicant to the Sea of Eden repeatedly to fight, I think, only three Krakens? And then having to start over again when they were all dead. Burn in Hell, Nintendo.

Important note: Jeff has to have atleast one free inventory slot, otherwise Spy command will not show you an item
I remember grinding starmen for at least 8 hours and still no dice. I respect this so much.
Earthbound being Earthbound, I was halfway expecting there to be secret code in the game that made it impossible to get all the 1/128 items in the same playthrough.
18:27 You can use the Escargo Express in the epilogue by talking to Ness's sister in her bedroom
I don't think you can but I can verify this pretty quickly because I have a save state right near the end. I'll be back
@@noti7510 You have to talk to her twice, the first time she'll talk about Ness's homework- and then she'll have the Escargo Express menu.
@@milesfernando oh yeah you're right. I just got round to checking. in fact, you only need to talk to her once
I would have lost my mind doing this. Your patience is inhuman.
This is absolutely insane. Props for seeing this through!
1/128 as a RuneScape player that drop rate seems very reasonable
1/128 as a shiny Pokémon hunter is the best you can hope for most of the time
As a RougeLite player I wish I had 1/128 odds
So I’m confused. I hunted for the sword of kings, got it in less than 40 encounters, then I got a SECOND one unintentionally. But when I tried to hunt for the goddess ribbon, it took over 900 encounters just to get the WRONG DROP.
I'm so sorry
I love when random new channels pop up with quality content
8:16 is so sad :( i can hear the tears in your voice... Dont be sad because they are gone, be happy that you knew them while they were
you were forgiven for your stupidity at the mall and preceded to get good luck for the rest of the run
I did it once, I streamed it. I will never ever do it again...
holy crap i used to watch your old theories you did a decade ago & if i remember correctly you would occasionally use a sarcastic voice to say BUUUUUUUUUUT PROTO
Hey Proto! Fancy seeing you here. Cheers for your encouragement to get me to complete my first Jeff cookie challenge back in the day!
You cannot grasp the true form of Earthbound's RNG!

I've done the "get every enemy's drop" challenge and you don't know pain until you've tried for Captain Strong's Egg
I'm currently halfway through my 1/128 and taking a short break. Doing the run with no speeding up of the gameplay (playing on NSO) and Manly Fish's Brother is taking a while.
calling a tactic SNOT is very much in the spirit of this game

here before this channel hits the algorithm, great video dude! you have the most insane amount of patience for this challenge
I love that because of save states, you didn't get exp, and jeff is diamond despite you fighting like 15 levles worth of alligators.
I remember doing this challenge myself a few months ago. Those damn Dali's Clocks took me about 400-500 encounters (I lost count). Ness and Jeff were like, level 70 at the end of it. My man, how do you only have 250 subs? Well, 251 now. Excellent video, man.
This challenge and video reminded me that Chuggaaconroy battled 2 Choposaurus in a row and BOTH of then dropped the Magic Fry Pan.
i literally never got any of these items and didn't even know this was a thing, i think I'm glad i didn't burden myself with this
love how this popped up in my reccomended after i started the challenge 💀
Mad respect for you dude!
Tip for musica: musicas will almost always spawn alone, so it is likely a lone gift box is a musica
I grinded out all the temporary drops like the Sharks and Department Store enemies. I typically grind out the Sword of Kings and broken antenna. Never seen the Gutsy Bat drop.
You can get the Xterminator spray much earlier if you get it from the taxis in Fourside. Not that it''s that much more useful there either.

Okay this video has convinced me to play Earthbound.
3:21 every release besides the SNES is Emulation.
Guys out hear talking about a challenge but using savestates and speedkey 💀
Me getting only the sword of kings and the broken antenna. I wanted to attempt to finally get the star pendant and the gutzy bat, but it's just too much man.
I didn't know brain food lunch was that rare, but I got one with like 70 ecounter when i was sword hunting
I haven't done the 1/128 challenge yet, but I have grinded for days on end trying to get the gutsy bat. I went half insane and was having dreams about it.
I skipped the second sound stone place in my playthrough too 😂 you caught it much earlier than I did though
I got psi caramel twice in a row.... W H A. AA A A AA.

so that's how yub got that bomb
Shiny hunting but with Earthbound items
Great vid!
This is what you call dedication.
You did more encounters on the first one then I did on my whole first play-through prob lol
YOU CAN WIN THE DESERT SLOTS??? smh my head

Now do 1/128 challenge on Oldschool Runescape. Most of the 1/128 items are drops from entire raids lmao
4:50 i assume you meant to put "you should NOT try winning", right?
also personally i think the only item that's worth grinding for is the sword of kings, since it's poos ONLY weapon
0:55 it's more worst it's a coin flip per enemy if they get a chance to be chosen as the drop and it could roll no's many times
This is flipping legendary.
Should i get ness killed? Im at level 34 by plain croc and i wanna get to magicant
Oooh where did this hermes come from.
W Video bro, You earned a Sub
One has to ask, does fast-forwarding the gameplay ruin the challenge? Or is it its own challenge.
I'm confused by the Moonside enemies being considered permanent. Surely they're temporary because once you finish Moonside, you can't go back? Or am I just missing something lmao
There's a low chance for them to spawn in Dungeon Man
Think I'll stick to RuneScape honestly
RNGesus gave you a break with those adds after what you did with musica
did you at any point accidentally load a state after getting an item you wanted
because that'd be rough
Nope, definitely looked better with the soft filter.
Wow it's almost like it's unfun and not worth it
nice leaf transition
