Almost 5 years later- Hey there, Have an old Acer laptop that runs Vista. Never use it, and wanted to wipe all my info off of it. Put in a search for "restore factory settings on Vista pc" and none of the vids helped. Once I put in "Acer laptop factory restore" your vid popped up, and it was right on point. Thanks!

I've been trying many methods from youtube for over 2 hours. The problem is when i get the the "please wait a moment" screen it stays there. I gave it 35 minutes but it never moved on. This has happened to me everytime i try. Please help

Did you already hold down ALT and f10 before pressing the power button? I followed along and it did do the beep but the bar showed up.

Jeff Eustache It might not have the OS on the partition. Buy a hard disc Windows 7 or whatever OS sticker you have on the bottom and hard install it.
Try this:
turn it on and then HOLD THE SHIFT BUTTON ON THE RIGHT!!!
it works for windows 8
BUT NOT 10 I DONT Y U COULD TRY

i have windows 10 on my acer aspire 5740/5340 but all of a sudden one day i turn it on and it just keep saying please wait sometime it say do you want to go to advance repair r restart the computer but my screen has been broken so if i go to advance repair i cant c the options because they r going to pop up on the broken side any advice if i can do anything else

I got an older accer aspire 5517, I believe the battery was good in it but what happened is when plugged in I was installing windows 7 home on a clean formatted original HHD and at the second step of the installing process where it says 'windows is expanding files' the laptop shut right off, I thought it was part of the process as the installation says it will restart several times during installation but I realized that it wasn't restarting even giving it several minutes also noticed the orange charging LED does not light up at all now while plugged in, power button does nothing I tried this method as shown in this video here a few times and nothing still, if anyone knows about this I'd really appreciate any suggestions and or solutions thanks

hi Rubber i have a big problem.. i dont have recovery on my hard disk at least it seems that way becouse it keeps telling "please wait a moment" and doest do else.. so somehow it is not on my hard disk but another problem is that now i cant even start my pc and use it becouse it goes immediately in recovery sistem and stays there till i dont turn it off.. so i dont have a recovery on hard disk and i can turn it on and use normally but must first to the recoveri becouse even without pressing alt + f10 it goes there by himself.. what should I doo.. can you please tell me?

+Veronica Romano sounds like your hard drive might be bad. Watch my last video that says Acer Windows 10. It will show you what to do if your hard drive is bad.

It just the keys. You may need to get Windows 7 or whatever OS you have on disc and install it with a DVD OS.

What happens if I installed windows 7 over the default Windows 10 that came with it, but now no drivers installed so I have no internet, and the recovery partition is gone so I can't access the eRecovery software?

+RubberWilbur Thanks for the reply! I've already tried holding alt+F10 while booting, nothing happens. It passes the Acer screen then goes right into the Windows 7 loading screen. I have the Windows 7 installation on a USB key right now, but doesn't seem like I can do anything useful from the menu besides reinstall 7, which doesn't help.

If Computer keeps going to sign in screen when holding the Alt key and F10, try using the Alt Gr key on the right of the space bar and the F10 key.
