Emergency funds are meant for emergencies and FD has a lock in period with penalties for premature withdrawal. So, you should never put your emergency fund in any investments which have a lock in.

Diversify your amount in to multiple areas - I would suggest - 15L -> 3L(FD) ,1L Bonds or Debt Funds, 5L SWP Mutual Fund so that u can get montly amount, 2L LargeCap MF(avg 15%ret), 1L Index MF(guranteed annual 12%), 4L SmallCap MF (3L on 25% above returns any small cap here risk is attached but you already had good back up of FD+ 1L on 18% above std on is SBI smallcap even though risk is there but its proven u can even opt Axis SmallCap)

The ticket size is huge, if you have that much money you can talk to an expert and try, but i don't that money :), so can't really advise on this.
