thank you porsche for keeping the manual alive!! hopefully it lives in the 992 gt3!
it will!
It's the customers that vote with their wallets that keep the manual alive.
Jonas Rosenven most ppl don’t realize this
why? its neither safer (2 hands on the wheel, nor faster (acc/top speed) or more efficient. so not better in any aspect, compared to an automated manual (read NOT automatic).
I have no problem if its someone's preference to drive manual, but not for technical reasons or even comfort.
@@Muppets_Waldorf It's for the sheer engagement and challenge dear boy. With so many algorithms firing these days to ensure our cars run optimally, it's one of the few remaining human control elements of driving that is both hard to do properly and is so rewarding when we do. How I miss driving my manual 964. Cheers - Dave :-)
Mark: So, do you want me to give my thoughts as I'm driving it round?
Porsche: Everyone would rather just hear the car.
I dont know why i read the porsche part with a German accent😂
Mad Max Yah!
Porsche: Auto blip Sir?
Mark: No
Nice, clean gear changes.
If he had it in Sport mode, then the computer was rev matching for him. Unfortunately, there's no way to separate the two. If you want Sport mode's sharper steering and throttle, you have to share your shifting with the computer.
Trevor Pontifex I thought you could turn off the auto rev matching in sport mode but it also disables the traction control as well.
@@m1keyw Oh really? It's hard to tell from the reviews I've read. I hope you're right. That would be good news.
@@trevor756 That's not the case anymore. There is a dedicated button for it again.
Can’t take my eyes off the feet! That’s art right there
The context of this comment is crucial
Really? I can't take my eyes off the chin.
😁
Hmm 🤔
erghhhh its just heel and toe..........
This reminds of the famous video with Ayrton Senna in the Honda NSX...
Yes not in Sennas class though
@ciudiux Not faster than Senna himself though
@zeroyon223 Than the original NSX? Definitely.
u kidding? idiot
Stephen Weston Mark Webber Vs Ayrton Senna ? There is no contest
Doesn’t get any better than this ! Webber in a cayman around old f1 track . Wow!
He is so bored of this slow car
It's just a pure pleasure to watch how the car reacts to Mark's inputs. I watched every corner 3-4 times.
hitting every apex
Its not the car reacting to a driver, its the driver getting used to the reactions of a car
Did you notice the blue dildo on the racing line at the exit of turn 3?
His trail breaking is textbook
You have to give credit to Porsche for still having a manual gearbox on that car
@Ali Talla I'd still give Porsche credit. It's more expensive and they sell less well (objectively they do), but they've kept them around for the enthusiasts
These heel-toes were brought to you buy: Nike
Mark Webber actually. Go promote Nike for Kapernick.
By sport chrono too if you wish :-)
Honestly, this is one of the best car videos I've seen lately. It's simple, raw, and very interesting to see the effects of each input. No talking, just the car and the man dancing on a track. Future car videos should take note.
F1 driver level driving is just so precise!
There are many onboard videos you can find on youtube but few are as excellent as this one.
He missed the ideal apex point on the hairpin left before the back "straight", he hit it too late
Dan Arnets that is his intention. It’s called a late apex. It is the faster line.
@@jamsbong - I know that track fairly damn well and I can guarantee you that's not the optimal apex
Dan Arnets 😅😅 I had such a good laugh.
@@DanArnets1492 a late apex is most certainly the fastest way around this corner. You're maximising more speed on a longer straight.
He's driven in f1 for 15 years with live deltas it would be very stupid to think he doesn't know where he's gaining time.
Now THIS is the kind of marketing message you need more of, NOT those dumbassed "octothorpeaskPorsche" P'sOS.
This is a Nike commercial
Good ‘ol heel n toe from an old school F1 legend 👌🏾👌🏾
Kimi Senna - who also raced in the paddle change era. True talent
@Kirialexis Tsiprotakis quicker and smoother downshifts
Kirialexis Tsiprotakis rev matches to match the revs for the lower gears. Modern paddle shifters usually auto-blip or auto-rev marches, it’s a dying art unfortunately
@Τζάκ Τζόκ In a manual, when you disengage the clutch and release the throttle, your engine RPM drops, but when you downshift at a given speed, the RPM needs to go up. So you blip (quickly open and release) the throttle to get the RPM up before you engage the clutch, resulting in a smooth downshift that doesn't jerk the car around. Heel and toe downshifting like what you see in the video is just a way of doing that while braking.
Everytime i thought: "Oh he is breaking to late into the corner and misses the apex".... he is able to magically steer the car further inside finding a late apex. Good car, good driver.
TheBPJo that’s trail braking for you
@@jackspencer5676 And throttle steer
And ex f1 driver
And balls
yeah, i heard those guys in f1 were quite good.
Those gear changes are FAST
The sound, the footwork and driving skill all in one place. No music or words needed.
I can't believe how quickly Mark could give it %100 throttle it was like a video game. I was expecting the car to step out when he got full gas so early. It's awesome seeing a 2020 model car with a full manual gearbox. Don't get me wrong I actually love the paddles because of how much faster you can go, but to see 3 pedals in a modern Porsche is really cool.
Love his commitment to the throttle from mid corner to exit 👌!
that's how everyone drives....
I've watched this video 5 times... I'm going to watch it again now.
beautiful trail braking + precise heel toe. he's teaching us a lesson.
Yeah that’s some of the sickest trail braking I’ve ever seen. He’s even trailing out on the clutch while at the same time still using heel and toe to trail out the braking and trail in throttle. That’s next level shit right there
He must be so happy to finally drive a car with 3 pedals and a stick.
True! Dual clutches are great but nothing like the connection you get with a manual box.
1:40 ... just waiting for that front end.
With using every tire traction.....
Hear the tire sound... it did not get bigger or smaller but uniforms...
He is like a robot...🤣 Super soft

That turn isn't circular so "always inside" isn't a good line --- SOURCE: Many years watching the MotoGp guys lap the place!
@@DanArnets1492 You know because of many years of watching Moto GP?
You do realise that Bikes and cars have different optimal lines on every single track
Your source is for bikes, not for cars
Mate please shut the fuck up.
Your comments are embaresing
You don't know better then an F1 driver, not even 1/10th the knowladge.
Not sure what you are trying to acomplish by being *OBJECTIVLY* wrong
@@boltmix7294 imagine getting this annoyed by a simple comment on UA-cam 😂
You need a therapist my friend
Now this is the content we want to see Porsche!! Thank you, more please.
Godlike footwork
We need more videos like this!!
This foot camera is just ❤
Very impressive pedalwork, amazing to see him holding the clutch and engaging it partially while braking for smooth downshifts and his motions are just so seemless
I think he was showing us 2nd gear isn't too tall, and that we're just not carrying enough speed.
I was sort of thinking the same until i heard how much he was in the very last few hundred rpm and on the limiter... wrong ratios for a track like this it seems...
Someone will make a gearset for it
You spot the best views!!All three pedals like a real man!!
Thanks for having a complete and uncut video
Superb heel toe technique
Great footwork! Well done.
That's an awesome ad Porsche.👏
Car/Driver harmony in perfect balance.
One of the better motoring videos ever...foot down HARD most of the way, YES !
An ultra fast driver driving on track an excellent balanced sportscar! Kudos to Mark and Porsche!
Lovely! Thank you Mark and thank you Porsche!
Superb driving
That was a very sensational video! Well Done, Porsche!
Mark f-ing Webber! Smooth as it gets. What a driver. What a machine.
This is everything I've ever wanted. Green, manual, fast; without a lot of extra nonsense. Top work @Porsche
This is glorious. I just started daily driving a manual economy car to work in preparation for driving a porsche in the future. Truly a drivers’ car
Epic. Wouldn't mind more.
Perfect driving skills, congrats
Fast feet, quiet hands. Top-level.
That flat-6 engine just sounds glorious! 😍😍😍
It's mad how every corner looks like he's going to outbrake himself then it just tucks into the apex perfectly at the last moment. I guess there's a reason these guys get paid so much 😂
so happy to see you mark, We miss you at F1, best of luck with everything you do.
Expert level footwork
Awesome driving MW!
Very nice. Nice to see webber too🤙🏾
Nice driving and camera angles.
Maravilha
Que som, que tudo 😍⛽🇵🇹
Wow! Mark made the Cayman GTS dance!
Makes it look so effortlessly
awesome! please do more onboard of this setup this is really nice!!
Exceptional drive!
Mark is just a legend, he could have been an F1 world champion had it not been for Vettel. It is just wonderful to see his control over the car and the feeling of his braking and accelerating, he is just too good. I miss him.
Love the foot-cam. Going home to practice....
So good to watch heel and toe from the legend 😍
Great to watch! I had to focus on the pedal cam because since i have seen Walter Röhrl placing his left foot on the foot whehever there is no need to press any pedal with it (even during Group B special stages) i always look out for that. Mr. Webber is above anything i would criticise on a racetrack, but on the cam it looks like he's resting his foot on the clutch pedal the whole time. (might just be the angle because it doesn't show if he's actually in contact with the pedal)
Absolutely magnificent!
The finesse of releasing the clutch after a heel n toe while entering a corner is just mesmerising.
Kutay Arıcan I‘m also surprised by him hitting the clutch slightly when he starts to turn into a curve where NO gearshifts are done...to avoid oversteering due to inertia, I guess...amazing
He looks so chilled 😂
Nice to see the old school,
Driver
Track and
Gearbox
Un des meilleurs pilotes avec la marque de voitures la plus prestigieuse de mon point de vue
Now, this is a multi 21-worthy performance. Well done.
Love that track and love that car :). I want Mark's job.
He makes it look easy. I'd wee myself. Oh and the new 718 is fantastic and gorgeous.
Perfect trail breaking !!!
The modern day 'Senna in loafers' lap. He made that look effortless.
True, well said.
Wow... good driving and great balanced car
Very useful. Steer the course!
Very nice Mr. Webber. 👌🏻
Awesome!
Awesome, well done Porsche!
Great video :D
Awesome video!🔥🔥🔥
Legendary Driver, in great car, on superb track🔝🔝🔝
Massive Thank You for the pedals cam❤❤❤
With the central view, from behind the wheel will be Perfect😉 But by the way Well Done Porsche 👏👏👏
More, more, more Please 🤙🤘✌️
Manual gearbox and heel and toe. That's the real way to drive! Amazing! I drive a 911 4s with manual transmission everyday. I would never change my baby for anything else
This heel and toe circlejerk by people who can't drive a simple manual transmission
Superb vid Porsche 👌🏽
What a machine, Porsche! And manual, can't get much better than the Cayman
Wait a minute, Mark Webber??? Whaaaat. UA-cam, need to improve on there notifications, man. I thought, I came across this but I wasn't sure. Man, if I was sitting next to him just to enjoy the ride because he is no joke on the track 🙊
Its amazing to just watch how he drives
That’s some proper heel and toe!
Best Nike advert of the last 10 years
Excellent !😉👍
It’s pretty cool
Congrats Mark!
Kids today will never know how fun it is to drive stick.... Heel-toe while stabbing the brake and rolling on the gas.... Awesome 👏
There are alot of young people who do drive stick
Yeah...but not so much
Leon King But not like that.... let’s hope.... unless their sponsored 👍🏻
It's not just young people but people in general.
Actually, it's pretty much almost everyone.
Mark Webber is a real racing maniac. True master. Amazing driving skills
Perfect
That is some fine piece of heel and toe action
To use Carlos Sainz words...smooth operatorrrr....webber is so calm on a different level to most drivers!
Great car. Great driver
Would have been 3 seconds faster if he'd wear Adidas.
He doesn't need shoes to be faster
The balance seems to be excellent!
Looked like a lot of understeer to me.
@@thomprd porsche is rear weight bias, the understeer will come.. thats why he need to trail braking,to put weight on the front end..
@@adyyzels I think you are confusing this Cayman (Middle engine), with the classic 911 (Rear engine)...
Poetry in motion!
What a blessing to have the exact same shoes as webber
eine offizielle Rundenzeit davon wäre interessant.
Wenn die gestoppte Zeit von 1:53,8 ca stimmen würde wäre das der Hammer.
Gratulation👍
Check out that footwork! Webber is still the business 👌
i feel like the car wasn't fast enough for him :) Love the footwork!!
He was an F1 driver so obviously it isn't fast enough for him
