Sir, I'm a big fan of your swearing. I was f*cking around my Jetta this morning in the cold (-15C here in Canada) using the same colourful language while trying to trouble-shoot my windshield washer pump and your video was really helpful. Safe trails!

After watching this video you saved me some cash! It ended up being the 7.5 fuse. Thanks Sir!

Thanks! Fuse was the problem and as mentioned below.. phoned a VW repair shop to ask which fuse I should look at, was told " most often it is the washer pump that is failing" ... Thank God for Googe, UA-cam , and handy man kinda people

that answers has logic. a fuse will not blow out by itself. so if It did. you gotta check why it happened. in this case a short is posible inside the pump or wiring.

Wow, are all those injuries on your hands from trying to pull the washer pump? No wonder your language is a bit colourful.

Thanks for the video. I was finally able to find the fuse, it was good. Next I will try the pump, but my daughter had to go to work. Your hand looks like mine, when I work on my daughters 2013 VW Jetta, a bloody mess.

for anyone that needs to attempt this. it’s probably easier taking the front bumper off. its just 4 screws in each wheel well that can be accessed turning the wheels. and around 10 on the bottom and it just un clips. really not too bad if you were planning on putting it up on ramps anyway

Funny watching this, love the commentary. just did mine in MK6 Golf, pretty much the same process. hardest part was keeping track and putting all the torx screws back. mine is 2010 with 80k miles, sucks that the pump died but that's VW.

Your video is great a real working man with working hands! A little flavourful language to go along, love it!
Did you ever find out what the problem was??

I just had this problem . No fluid spraying, fluid in tank . Wipers worked . To fix it You have to unplug the car battery for 2 minutes and connect it back again . It resets the pump in case it had not been working . Pump working again .

Joe Kuta Thank you for sharing. I’m looking forward to seeing if this helps my issue. I may just go to the dealer, have a certified with warranty coverage. I dread going to dealer due to negative vibes/egos.

Yeah it happened to me when my summer fluid froze. And I worked the pump too long. Without fluid coming out Bc it was frozen for days, I think it’s a VW safety shut off. You’re welcome , and good luck 👍 🍀

Did you first try to pull out the front bumper plastic? The plastic where the projectors are (in your case there aren't any projectors). This gives you direct access to the pump without going under the car! Please confirm if this is the case with your car. It literally takes 2 minutes instead of one hour.

Did you ever figure out the issue? I'm having the same problem. When I pull my washer lever forward, my windshield wipers don't even turn on (and no water sprays) windshield wipers work fine normally

  • @micbin5412

bottom corner plastik cover at the front bumper can be remove and you get easy access without lifthing the car ...

Could you not just take off the front plastic pieces below the bumper? Asking cause I’m getting ready to replace mine. Thanks!

I rewatched the video cause I really can’t remember and I want to say no, at least I couldn’t see an easier way. I see the video has 15 thumbs down so maybe someone in the comments has the secret of a simpler removal. I’m pretty sure that while researching the removal process I found that you are supposed to be able to gain access through the wheel-well but I couldn’t figure out how. VW’s are a pain in the ass to work on except for radio removal. Sorry I couldn’t be more help. 🍻🍻🍻
