- CNN's Anderson Cooper takes a look at actor and activist, Michael J. Fox's fight against Parkinson's disease and the actors fight to find a cure. Fox says he was unprepared for the diagnosis when he met with a neurologist in 1991, as he described in the recent documentary, "Still".

FYI, He's fine as of the upload of this video. For anyone like me who saw this video and thought the worst. Usually these videos come out after someone passes. I went and checked news to prepare myself - thankfully I was wrong.
Thank you! I was literally seconds away from looking up if he was alive or not. Dude is so miserable these days though, I'm not sure how happy I should feel he is still alive. He has said many times he does not wish to live anymore. As a disabled person myself (4 years ago lost my intestines and side effects of that) not a day goes by where I don't wish I had died on the surgery table.
*Same here.*
Yeah, what a terrible headline for this video
Thanks. My first thought as well. Terrible headline.
CNN knew the reaction that title would get. Spreading awareness is crucial but not with psychologically misleading headlines.
Thank you Michael my father just passed with Parkinson disease we definitely need a cure God Bless you
❤
I have something that's related to Parkinson's. I have Severe Cervical Dystonia & had to have DBS surgery to have any quality of life.
I lost my mom almost 4 years ago, so I know the feeling of losing a parent. I wish you the best from the bottom of my heart.
@HeartlesSv420 thank you God Bless you
I'm so sorry for your loss. May his memory be for a beautiful blessing.
@Imaahava Thank you
I love the fact that he said as soon as you hear the word legacy or hero you immediately know they are wrong such a humble and wonderful man
donald trump would say he deserves this award and he would say the opposite of Michael, he would say that he "is worthy" of the award and no mistakes were made. If he didn't get it just like the Emmy he would say it's rigged.
@@jacekpaszkowski2000why do people have to bring Trump up everywhere? This video is about Michael
@@brendalg4 people like Jace have to bring him up because he lives rent free in their heads.
What a wonderful man and his wife is so awesome too, always by each other. Michael J. Fox has always been one of my favorites and is my #1. Thank you so much for the strength!! Much love
We love you, Michael. Thank you for being you and doing what you do.
Crying so much right now. I have people in my life with Parkinson’s. Bless him.
Michael - what strength and determination he’s shown - we love you ❤
"With gratitude, optimism is sustainable." A mensch for all times.
I've always had a great deal of admiration and respect for Mr. Fox. He is definitely worthy of this award. Parkinson's is more common than you'd think. Please donate to this important cause to find a cure.
My brother did too, not famous, he was 42 years old, volunteered for all the experimental procedures, in the beginning joining groups, volunteering to stay with patients so families could go out and run errands. Lots of unsung heros out there.

@@jacekpaszkowski2000bringing up Trump once is not enough? You have to repeat it on multiple comments? This video is about MICHAEL

@@brendalg4 trump also said he "deserves the Medal of Honor, and a Purple Heart." Some mark Veteran gave trump his Purple Heart and trump said "this was much easier." This is the same dude who didn't want disabled Veterans at his parade, because he said "they would make him look bad."
I love the fact he was able to laugh and make some fun out of his condition on Curb Your Enthusiasm….he is so brave….he has one of the best attributes towards such a devastating disease….sending love and thanks from this Australian for all the joy Michael you have bought to the world 🩷🩷🇦🇺🇦🇺
"Did you embellish the shaking of the soda?"
He’s the epitome of courage and class❤
He’s amazing! He’s been so strong all these years.
I am so happy I met him twice in my life and recognized me the second time 🥹 we love you Mike.
Wow. That’s better than I can do with my prosopagnosia: I have trouble recognizing my wife!
This guy is an Icon, and makes Canada proud…
Behind every great man is a great woman: his wife Tracy Pollan has been (almost as) incredible in her steadfast commitment to loving and supporting Michael, as he has been in loving and supporting his own plight that it might support others'. There is so much stress in this divisive world that anytime we can overcome the physical challenges while ALSO caring for the tender inner, the more whole the global body will become ... and the many individuals that comprise it.
I have always admired Michael J. Fox's movie series. God bless him.
Hey young boys...this is how a man handles tough stuff. Be like Mike.
Yes sir
Great Canadian 🇨🇦
MJF is still one of the coolest people I’ve ever seen.
Thank you ❤ God bless you for all you are doing.
It strikes me watching this that two young men named Fox from Canada have left an incredible mark on this world in trying to help others diagnosed with terribly challenging diseases.
Well deserved award & here's to the Fox Foundation finding the cure!
Michael J Fox is an inspiration to so many people… as a husband, as a father and as an advocate (and activist) for others with Parkinsons. What a beautiful and touching legacy he has created for our world. ❤ In a world for full of division and hate - you have to look no further than this man and his mission to find something good to celebrate. 🥹❤️
Yes, he’s fighting hard to find a cure for himself. Honorable
As someone with a loved one who has Parkinson’s, I appreciate his everlasting positivity and fight for a cure. ❤
My Father’s Parkinson Disease started just like Michael’s. A twitching in his finger and then sort of a rolling like rolling a cigarette. He also had a sore shoulder all the time. He worked on the Highway operating machinery so he had to go on disability. I know how hard it was learning of Daddy’s illness. He would never take meds for it and in seven years he died of a stroke. I have always loved Michael and give him praises for the way he has handled this disease. I wish I knew him personally and could shake his hand. He is a strong man and I pray he has many more years to find a cure. It is through men like this that we will eventually find what this disease is all about.
Every time I think my health condition is s*, I think about Michael J Fox and his 40+ years of living with Parkinson’s. He is truly an inspiration.
I have had over 45 years of burning pain from CRPS. That too affects the nerves of our body. All of us have but ome life and we have to be very strong to get through the ups and downs that is a part of living.
A true advocate and friend.
So much courage, such strength
I saw my father struggle with this horrible sickness. But it was not enough…. Almost 5 years ago he got COVID and he didn’t win that battle but he fought like a beast against it until the very end. I was aloud to be with him at the hospital and that felt good to hold him and hug him during the last days of his life. Okey that’s a sad story and I feel the same way when I see MJ-Fox, but I also see the glow he has in his eyes. I can see he’s fighting power, and I’m admire him for being such a brave man to stand up for many thousands of people who fight the illness in silence. Thanks for the word and take care where ever you are ❤❤❤
Thank you and God Bless you. ❤
I have such deep respect for this man. A true warrior, and a very fine example of the human spirit. I count myself lucky to have been 14 when back to the future came out, and got to see it in the cinema. I saw it 4 times that summer, it was just so good. Gosh, i miss the 80's....
You make Canada proud, Michael!
You will always be our true Canadian.❤
going back and watching Family Ties in it's entirety...because I already miss him. God bless you, Mike. Legend ❤
Long live with good health and happiness 🎉❤
Man loved him as a kid in back to the future and was bummed out when he left spin city, love you man, keep fighting the good fight, you're my hero!
Life is not fair. 😢
Can’t believe he’s in 60s. He looks so handsome still looks young.
Yes you are worthy!! And love toward all. You mean so much. Would love to shake your hand.
Alex P. Keaton...I've loved him for a very long time!!!! ❤️🔥
Michael is a true icon and admirable person, both for his acting and his struggles.
Read his book it's really great. So thankful that he is so open about Parkinson's, my grandfather and 2 uncles had it. It helped me to understand how fragile life can be and the foundation really helps people and it's so important. So thankful to this man.
Michael J. Fox is still fighting like a true warrior now that’s a hero
His voice is amazing ❤
A humble human being with wise words. All the best.
As a teenager, I was a fox fanboy 🎉 and I still love him
Thank you Michael J. Fox for being such a strong and brave inspiration to us all! 👍💟
❤❤ Love you Michael! Keep going brother.❤❤
He’s so beautiful every time I see him I’m so blown away how he stays strong and happy in his life my baby is my hero he makes me so proud every day and he’s made a huge impact on so many people I just can’t wait to see him get better so we will end Parkinson’s for ever i love you all ways darling you’ll always be my baby ♥️♥️♥️♥️♥️♥️
I already knew I had Parkinson's. The weird thing was seeing it in print by my neurologist's hand. The official word. Anyway, I'm grateful for everything Michael J. Fox is doing. Kudos.
He might not think he's worthy of these titles, but he is. Yes, it's all thanks to everyone who worked towards that goal that there are advancements, but he paved the road ahead for everyone else to follow, and shone light on a problem that too many of us might forget about at times. For that, he IS a hero.
Such a humble, kind hearted human being. Grew up watching MICHEAL on the teli. Still a fan.
A true inspiration. A great man
What an awesome person!! Incredible man.
Life is unfair I was told as a kid. The person who told me had had an unfortunate experience and was trying to prepare me for what was ahead. I have deep respect for Michael J. Fox and his wife Tracy. The come across as truly decent people. And despite all that he's had to deal with he is always trying to help others. On the opposite side is the case of Matthew Perry who spent over a decade using drugs and basically wasted his life. He threw his life away. That's my opinion. Life is so unfair. God Bless Michael and his family.
He makes us all proud to be human beings...
No matter when and if I'm reborn, Michael will always be my admire
Michael j fox is the greatest actor on the planet and he is my favourite person in the world ❤❤❤❤❤

I love you MJF
Great Canadian. Michael J Fox and Terry Fox....fighters❤
I love Michael J Fox ::::::!!!!! He is a great man and a true fighter. I wish Michael Happiness and success with all the great work he does.
I was diagnosed with Parkinson . So far, its affecting my speech. I'm not afraid . It seems mine is due to the use of Lithium. Months ago I went to Puerto Rico, and spent two months actually "hiding" from my family and friends, for I didn't want them to see me like this. Eventually, I returned to Banning, CA, where I'm receiving medical services at a VA hospital close by. A couple days ago I went for a Brain Study at a clinic in Palm Springs. I guess it might get a little bit hard to walk as time passes, since I'm 6'2". Only 5 members of my family know about it. Not even my sons and daughters know about it. I tell them it's due to stress . I just discovered Lake Perris , and I love it !! M.J.F. was diagnosed very early in his life. I was diagnosed at 63. Why would I be upset , when I didn't provoked this ?
You are a hero!!!!
Terry Fox was Canada's gift to the world for Cancer and now Micheal for Parkinsons. Amazing
I wish people would understand the impact stem cells and it's research provides as well as where they come from. It's truly life saving. Michael would surely agree. I wish him the best in his fight.
Just saw "Teen Wolf" recently! So good! Michael J. Fox is an inspiring actor and human being!❤
It's awesome that he's not just thinking of himself.
5% of all money goes to helping the rest in his pocket
Therapeutic! Perfect lesson in humility.
He is a terrific man with a beautiful and long devoted wife. I hope he can realize a victory with his efforts!
Beautiful speech and a well deserved award.
One of the best guys in Hollywood Michael J fox is always giving back and never ever given up ❣️
The power of love ❤️
I will always love and admire Michael J Fox. He’ll always be my teen wolf crush.
God bless Michael ❤
Thank you.
Awsome ! Michael j fox is still one of my favorite people in the world. Against all odds he still is showing the world you can fight and make progress if you put your mind to it.
He is such a great human being he does not deserve this
Michael J. Fox is my favorite actor.
Sweetheart and a true super heroe along with all the angels from God assisting and giving suport.
I named my son after him..
I luv u 💓
My sister was diagnosed with Parkinson’s at age 54 - she just gave up - has not tried to do anything but watch TV ever since - no fight in her. Very sad as she could definitely have fought and could be more able bodied and helped herself and others. She is/was a clever person. The way it was delivered by her Doctors was terrible as she has been expecting to die for 13 years now and still going as she was - the Sinemet do her more harm than good. The medication is cruel. 😢😢😢
Another lovely Canadian 😊
Michael is a True True Man of Men
We love you Michael🙏🏻❤️
What a LEGEND!
Mike your a Legend!!!
Is it only me or CNN is not posting much today 😢
@ThomasFromTN we are not supposed to be observant anymore?🙄
Michael has done for Parkinsonism what the series The West Wing did for Multiple Sclerosis (my own little problem) - make it respectable to discuss conditions too many people find it disturbing to address. I love this fellow Vancouverite for this. He joins Terry Fox as the finest Canadian vulpine heroes of all time. 🦊
He sounds and looks great!
He does. It's like if he was healing. I wish it was true.
@Darius-uj1gv Ya mama
Terry Fox, Michael J. Fox, make you a proud 🇨🇦
He is a class act! ❤
However sad it is, you can fight all you want to, but it still will progress and get worse. Horrible, but true.
Millions of dollars and all these years later we still can’t treat it.
