The American T29 heavy tank used to be the equivalent of the German Tiger II, at least, that was until Gaijin moved it up in battle rating. Now it gets constant uptiers. Is it still worth buying as a premium vehicle?

The constant uptiering of these vehicles to face Cold War era vehicles makes 6.3-7.3 unplayable to me

@@PrivateMemo Right now 8.7 is your best bet in getting downtiers. With the T-72AV (TURMS) and 2S38 being moved to 10.0 it cleared out alot of the full BR uptiers in that range to fight them.
Skill issues
I got downtiered to 5.3 quite a bit at 6.3. But once I upped it to 6.7, poof. Uptier 95% of the time
Playing a t54 bushed up with those decals AND first death leaving.
They are the type to suck the last shred of fun out of this game that's left.
I play lowteir mostly for fun espiecilly biplanes only aka reserves only
They managed to be annoying to both teams.
I can see myself in them without the decals

I remember hearing about how overpowered the T29 and Ru 251 were at 6.7 when I first started playing years ago. Never got up that high before they were up-tiered, so I didn't experience it myself, but I observed MANY debates over whether or not to up-tier them both. "____ premium is overpowered" vs "____ premium is overtiered" has been a very frequent subject in the War Thunder community in all the five years I've been playing it.
The Ru 251 was an absolute scourge. It was dethroned though, by the 906. When it came out the 906 was *somehow* a 6.7, and there was no hullbreak or overpressure. Absolute terror.
yea i believe the t29 is at 7.0 in a great spot compared with 10.5 tiger its very similar in almost everything but it got better mobility and multiple 50 cal which are very useful which spookston ofc not mentioned
and ru 251 was reaaall tooo good it was like a leopard at 6.7 but with heat instead of aps soo ye was too strong imo
T29 like T26E1/5 and T34, only has a hard front turret while the other parts are made from paper. This is why advice for US heavies are hull down and only exposed the front turret. Main weakness on the turret is the ward behind it, main advantage of T29 is it gun depression which maie it very OP on long-range snipe maps or the nap with multiple obstacles that can cover the hull. At least T29 has better time to hull down on WT, on WoT when enemies spotted you hulled down you will received a rain of HE from SPG and their target was your ammo stored inside the turret ward.
Gaijin really should do smth about the bushes. Like make it so that you can't put bushes on top of the gunner sights, the driver sight, the commander sight, etc,.. or just remove bushes and give the people that bought it their GE back

Jumbo 76 armor is quite useless on its BR.. hell even normal Jumbo armor are quite useless at times..

6.0 was the perfect place for the 76 jumbo, but Germutt and slavmonkeys were pissed because they weren’t the only ones with frontally invulnerable mobile bunkers, and they actually had to aim to kill it instead of just point and clicking center mass. In other words absolute shitters with better equipment got dabbed on by a mediocre heavy tank with slightly less shitters playing it. But let’s also not forget how horribly undertiered low/mid tier German and Russian heavy tanks are because braindead windowlickers can’t even make great equipment work.

@@afif1797 the introduction of volumetric armor severely buffed most German heavy armor to a point that weak spots are a dice roll for if you’ll penetrate or not and usually you won’t. I’ve had the US 105mm APHE with 253mm of penetration not pen the unangled flat side of panthers because somehow the weak 50mm side armor gets some messed up armor values where two different plates intersect/overlap with each other and will make even top tier darts not pen. It’s the same broken armor calculations that make the tiger 1’s and T-34s driver’s hatch almost impenetrable when irl they were some of the biggest weak spots on those tanks.
I bought the T29 and I actually enjoy it quite alot, I used to play it in World of Tanks so I'm used to its sluggish nature. Also please play the wedge

King tiger have frontal armor at least but almost any hit t29 takes results in ammo explosio
not to mention the t29's gun is noticeably worse

I don't understand how you aren't burned out, I started last October and the grind + the changes (economy changes overall, drones, more CAS, 2S38, etc) are killing my ability to enjoy this game.
Because he pretty much has everything unlocked so he doesn't need to care about the "grind". When I play for the "grind" I have a much worse time than when I just focus on each game and playing well.
@@Juel92 Also, he's a CC, and practically any vehicle (not all of them, but a good portion afaik) that he doesn't have, he can ask for a test drive to make a video on them

i’m gonna say it, i don’t notice any difference with spooks mic and i will always enjoy the content but thanks for putting in so much effort we appreciate it.
80% of my full downtiers involve me getting rushed and focused first life, then obliterated by CAS while leaving spawn until I run out of SP. The other 20% is me getting a dozen kills while my whole team dies once and leaves and then we lose. Honestly have far more fun in midtiers than downtiers, because the entire enemy team doesn't have a rage boner for me.

Since you've done the T29, I'd like to see you try out the T34 or T30 (aka the 'murican KV-2). The T34 itself is probably my favourite 6.7 heavy tank
Fellow T30 enjoyer here, its fantastic to bonk tiger 2s on the roof with HE and nuke cold war stuff that has no armor. Currently have over a 2:1 KDR in it.

The devs are absolute clown when it come to balancing, for example the T-54-1949 is now at 7.3 while the T-54-47 is at 7.7, the 1949 has a better turret and access to sabot yet it's now at a lower BR than it inferior counterpart.
Probably because of the better hull armor and I believe its turret also turns faster.

i think you should try out the it-1, very good td being an atgm launcher with a full stab (also you can shoot over things without exposing anything)

you should try to play the T34, the overlooked brother of the 3 American T-series tanks. it's pretty much like the T29 but with additional 100mm armor on the turret's back and a 120mm with 280+ pen but at 6.7.

@@sulaimanhameed1699 the non filler round on the t34 is honestly better than most filler rounds from my experience it's very hard to not get a one shot kill with the 120mm gun, just aim center of mass and 95% of the time its a kill in one shot.

As I didn't notice it and after watching your doom toitle video I figured it'd be interesting seeing just how much you like the Puma, the Sd.Kfz. 234/2 version of course. I adore it, mostly because fast vehicles with good guns are best, especially when Gaijin lets the damn thing hit 60-80 in snow.

This and many tanks like it really make me wish there was a cold war divide. Just like everything that is 7.7 or higher with HEATFS gets +1 br added accross the board. Make 7.7-8.7 a none existent br and this entier part of the game will become so much more pleasant to play

I remember this and USA T34 being massive pains in the arse when i played Tiger H1 (back when it was 5.7), especially the T34 the turret of which was impenetrable for my H1 from any angle.
If you have it you should try the M6A2E1. It is broadly similar to the T-29 but is at 6.7 with a really good reverse gear

The Class 3 (P) is a pretty underrated vehicle. It’s pretty fast for its size and packs a serious punch.

I've been having a helluva blast playing the T29
that HE filler goes crazy and I bounce so many shots
I use bushes mainly on the top of my tank cuz i think they look cool and figured they wouldn’t be too useful if they’re on the top, if there any other places i can put them which doesn’t make me seem like a knob.
This satisfies my daily film of bullying king tigers. And I'm asking for super pershing again despite the fact that the T29 is that but better.

You were right to not try shot trapping, while it still technically works, I've yet to get one since volumetric came in. Shells seem to mostly shatter on contact, rendering trapping all but useless.
Would be pretty fun to see you try to fuck around with the M3 GMC

5:03 Tbh, playing the IS3 against Leopards and M48s with rounds that can pen you anywhere makes it a bit of a hassle when your main upside is knocked out.

Can you play the FIAT 6614, it’s an Italian light gremlin with a recoilless heat rifle. I’ve played it in 7.7 and found it to be just as effective, or even more. On certain maps, you can make it so the enemy only see your rifle, and can do pretty much nothing to you. It’s really fun to play. 6.3 Italy is probably one of my favourite matchups.
