The Soviet KV-1 is already a very tough heavy tank to crack in War Thunder. When you throw some additional armor plating onto it, you get something that is nigh on invincible. That is exactly what the KV-1E is. It's probably the closest thing the tech tree has to the American M4A3E2 Sherman Jumbo. All the plate edges combined with volumetric shells basically give you your own Gaijin powered APS.

@@ravenishere69420 yeah, if you have 100+ mm of pen, try and just hit driver port. Most tanks at 3.0-5.7 have similar weakspots to it as well, the flat plate at leadt
if you like light tanks, you may like the type 60 SPRG, basically the M56 but with 2 recoilless rifles

The German KV-1 Jumbo was easily the most overpowered vehicle for a while. Since you never went against German cannons, you just didn't die! Insanely good tank that I wish I had.
3:10 when i started first playing Russia, years and years ago, the shrapnel shells would blacken every crew member and part of a light tank, including the tracks...on the rare occasion it actually penetrated.
I love the KV-1E, its protected and have great shells. i wish i had it before it was gone.
You didn't buy it..? I mean sure it costed money but it wasn't too pricey

Kind of annoying they added it back for a day. I had it before and no one had it or new how to counter it. Now there is 1-2 in every match.
fun fact, the churchill 7 (and i think 3) has a massive weakspot on the rear hull, the toolbox isn't armored and theres a hole in the side armor behind it, you can shoot mg's in it and it will set it on fire and also hit the engine.
while this isn't some amazing one hit kill thing, but it means if you're in an SPAA or if your main gun gets CBT'd you can still fight one
Also, the roof armour isnt modeled

Also there are holes in the armour model behind the idler wheel, hose them down with HE from AA and you could just find it and get the kill. It is honestly full of weak spots from a poor armour model.
@DatBoi_TheGudBIAS It doesn't technically count as open topped, 75mm HE won't just kill it, it is allergic to even moderate amounts of HE though.

@@destroyerarmor2846 I like how the Churchill VII is 4.7 when the KV-1E is 4.0. It seems stupid to me, I'd take the KV-1E at 5.7 over the Churchill VII that's for fucking sure. That thing's gun is worthless and it's side armor is worse than the KV-1E above the wheels anyway. It's a better tank almost through and through, with exception to the frontal armor of the Churchill being 152mm, but it's mobility is absolute garbage when compared to the KV-1E and it's turret roof is laughably easy to penetrate for Russian guns. Not just that but the massive advantage of APHE for the KV-1E even though it's a low penetrating gun, is huge. If you can get through, you can at least guarantee a kill and most tanks between 3.7 and 5.7 can be penetrated by the KV-1E's gun. The few exceptions are mostly Russian so it has nothing to fear except the Churchill VII but it's gun can hardly even scratch the KV-1E either.

The first few KV-1’s have always been incredibly fun to play. If you use it correctly and have a good idea of what can and can’t pen you (when angled) you can be incredibly hard to kill.

This is my favorite tank in the entire game. In an uptier you can still bully some medium tanks and a lot of lights, taking people off guard, and in a downtier being a colossal wall is so fun. My fondest memory of this game is from a few years ago where I single-handedly held a C point against the entire enemy team for so long that my team got to dig in around B. By the time I finally died, the enemy team had like 45 seconds worth of tickets left. At that point somebody had finally gotten it into their heads to use a Sherman Firefly. It felt incredible.
The Jumbo comparison does work. Honestly, I think the tank is at the best BR it could be at for this playing it and playing against it. Its frontal weak spots are there and so long as someone knows what they’re doing there’s a good chance you’re gonna get clapped, while the sides and rear are easy pickings if you don’t just shoot center mass all the time. One that always took me by surprise when it happened is when people would shoot me in the weird bulge under the gun. Doing that tends to disable the entire turret.
It’s surrounded by vehicles that can kill it frontally too (I fear the Achilles in particular, but there are the German tank destroyers who will just ignore your armor, as well as the SUs and the KV-2 who will delete you from existence), or can bring it to a complete standstill (Churchills, other KVs (which is also really fucking funny to watch) and, in uptiers, the Jumbo itself.) It also has a weak gun that ducks you in the ass if you aren’t careful and try to take fights you can’t win, but it’s never truly obsolete, and is never OP unless the enemy team has no idea what to do. I really love it.

Honestly yeah, that’s kind of the point. Even at its own battle rating there are vehicles that can deal with the KV-1E while being very difficult for it to take out.

@@LispyCat yes, it can lol. Maybe not the m4a2 and m4a3, but other Shermans are pened. Shermans probably have an advantage in close ranges
You should play some of the French autoloaders! Either the AMX M4, Lorraine 40t, Char 25t or AMX 50 would be neat to see!

The swedish strv 42/DT can be pretty crazy. That autoloader mixed with good pen and post pen damage makes it a bit of a tiger killer at 5.0. Maybe you can make a vid on that?

@@Jimmy-pc9qe I would say just be careful it has some real light armor, but beyond that its pretty good with everything else. The best ammos has like 140+ pen with a 4 or 5 second reload and it has good explosive mass. just play it slow and perform some flanks and you're gold

KV-1, sherman/jumbo is probably what everyone want with how their tanks performs. fast turret rotation, fast reload, good armour, fast rotating speed (or at least easier)

Video 7 of asking: Could you play the T92? I think it's a really cool and unique design, and a shame that it never went into service. There doesn't seem to be a whole lot of gameplay or info about it on YT, and it's right up your ally for play style.
I remember spookston playing it way back in the day, it was a bit of fun years ago, but now, it's just a lil suffer cart.

3:01 I'm going to make it funnier: those aren't rivets, they're BOLTS. Yes, they BOLTED the extra armour on.
Pro tip: Smoke round got same velocity as APHE. So load like 30 smokes, learn map ranges and deploy smokes on their spawn at the start of a match. The slowdown they get from it will result in massive loss of the map control from the get go and might easily throw a whole match once half the team leaves.

the chaffee is incredible. I take it out with my 5.3 lineup and it still destroys. If you get a juicy flank you can own so hard

It would be nice if you played the M1A2 SEP. I would like to see how you utilize the commander sight and the ERA. I’ve noticed that the ERA helps against choppers if they hit you from the side. If you angle it just right you might be able to stop the ATGM.

Finally... I've played this thing so much, one of my most played tanks and I got it in a pack with the premium IL-2M, my most played aircraft. This is an incredibly unfair tank to fight against but incredibly fun to fight in. I highly recommend it to new players to the game who are interested in pwning some noobs. Worst thing you'll see is a German or Finnish KV.
Really like the nostalgic Halo CE sniper rifle sound effect.
I recommend taking this thing into high tier light tank territory, around 7.3 br. I've bounced multiple Milan missiles from marders and killed german M48s through the cupola a number of times with the KV-1E.

You should play the KV-1S, it has worse armor on the hull compared to both the KV-1 (L-11) and especially this thing, but it has way better mobility, a(n) (extremely) slightly better gun, and a waaay better mantlet configuration. I much prefer it to the KV-1E, tbh. The better mobility paired with the better gun and mantlet makes it sooo nice to use, and the armor is still quite effective, (somehow)

I remember years ago on Kursk, I was driving a Panzer IV F2 and put a round through the front plate of a KV-1 variant while on the move from more than a kilometer away. Right at the start of the match.
The medium 75mm is the smallest gun that can deal with KV's effectively.

This thing with a maxed crew is terrifying, and is a beast at holding down caps. People shoot your weakpoints but maxed on a cap youve got just a few seconds to repair anything on the tank and your back in action, the shells angled performance is ridiculous against m4's too.

The kv1 slowly starts to turn towards you, you try to run but you get tracked. You call for help but there is no one else all that remains are their burnt out corpses. You begin to cry as the realization kicks in, the kv1’s gun getting closer and closer. You’re staring down the barrel waiting for the end, its taunting you when you hear something, a faint whistle getting closer and closer. Instantly you know what it is, your not alone you’re about to be saved, a feeling of calm fills you as the bomb goes off, but everything is getting dark. The last thing you hear is a faint “Sorry” over the radio
One of my best tanks in terms of win rate! The armor on the KV-1E is absolutely insane, it's very mobile for its size and weight, and the shell packs a massive punch!! This tank just looks sexy and the engine sounds gorgeous. I love the KV-1E, one of my best tanks I have in my garage and also one of my most loved and driven tanks from my garage. I have no regrets about the purchase!!
Spookston is constantly refusing the courage to say "okay, alright." everytime something weird happens, this should be a challenge for the next vid, no okay and alright.
Gaijin just loves to make tanks that have only 1-2 weak spots have the most inconsistent volumetric just to make sure u cant even pen them there.... Gotta love it tbh

it's not an easy shot, but the flat turret face in the top corners is a good "give me your crew" in most kv's (especially 2's that think they are a safe peek). Also i'm surprised you stared down the pvkv III, it's little 57mm is insane at getting through volumetric nonsense.

I hate that by far the most common variant of the KV is a prem, while we get a literal prototype in the tech tree. Nearly all KV-1s received the plating at the start of the war and almost all KV-1s had the F-32 gun
