    I wish my taste for musicality instead of technical nonsense developed earlier in life. Fuck me, this people are total masters of their instruments. Hats off. When someone can pull off chords, scales, anywhere in the fretboard and actually being fully aware of what they are doing, you know that person deserves respect.

    The tone sound of Mohini is amazing, bright on the higher notes and deep and rich on the low, instead Malam has a more dark sound. Both are great Bassists

      Geez, why do people always say things like that ... it's not a competition--moreover, if you truly love music, love playing the bass, & love expressing yourself through this median then practice--play--enjoy yourself ... But "rip your hands off?"--c'mon man ...

      Tactically yes, they are. But Jaco was the innovator, the Hendricks of bass. And he made that thing sing. That's Jaco's appeal. Can you tell a story? Make my hair curl? That's what Jaco "fanboys" get. Sorry if you're above that.

    Been watching both of these incredible young talents for years. Also Brazil's Michael Pipoquinha. All are so close in ability that one would be hard pressed to say who's better. It boils down to taste. And they are my top 3 of new talent. Of course Pastorius is my all time favorite. But he's been gone almost 30 years (can you believe it) so it's time for the new edition to put their mark on the world. And I have no doubt they will.

      @Catsincages 8 років тому

      Sorry gentlemen but she's almost 20, not a kid who is still growing, those hands are as big as they will ever get lol.
      Her tone is her tone, perhaps she likes it that way, perhaps she feels it fits better with the modern Indian music she plays? Personally I don't like her tone in this vid; my cello has more bottom end, it's a shame as her gift is undeniable.

    • @nukeman444
      @nukeman444 8 років тому

      Catsincages I didn't mean to say that she needs *Man Hands* to play a bass haha! However, I wasn't aware that she is 20 years old. That means you're right. She has to improve that tone.

    I keep coming back to this one. Been playing the bass--not well at all--for a long time, and I can't stop, even though I probably should have long ago. But I hear songs like this in my head all day long. Stanley Clarke, Ralphe Armstrong, Jack Bruce on Apostrophe and Are You the One?, the sadly forgotten and most melodic Tony Reeves, etc, etc...and I just have to pick up my ancient Fender (that literally never goes out of tune), and there I go again...the only addiction that I dearly, dearly love.

    THIS BEAUTIFUL YOUNG LADY is a TRUE phenom. SHE'S like a young female version of Jaco Pastorious. The SCARY thing about THAT is...Jaco was NOWHERE close to being as good as she is at THAT age. What will she accomplish by the time SHE'S 25...30...35? WOW!!! I'm a BASS MAN myself and I'm amazed by Mohini Dey. I'm REALLY looking forward to MORE. I'm an instaFAN. Keep on pluck'N...Keep on slap'N...keep on pick'N. KEEP ON GROOVE'N Ms. Mohini Dey. I'm bragg'n on'ya. ......LOVE IT!!!

      Nothing against her playing but it's 2016 and Jaco was doing this on a fretless in the 70's. There is vastly more learning materials and Internet videos to learn music now. Jaco had to learn it all from playing and probably by ear. So again , she is a great player but comparing her to Jaco by age etc. isn't real fair...

    • @p.j.charteris1712
      @p.j.charteris1712 7 років тому +1

      +Mike Hunsberger I agree. When someone speaks you can see the conviction. It comes from the heart or practised speech for the purpose of elevating ones reputation and prosperity. While Jaco was no saint, before he fell ill, his expressions were pure jewels. They were as if the demigods showering flowers from heaven.

    • @daniellevin3056
      @daniellevin3056 7 років тому +2

      Mike Hunsberger I agree on your analysis🕵 to an extent. But learning material it's not like Jaco lived in the stone age era there were plenty of vinyl records not to mention radio, television, tapes, live music. I'm sure Jaco saw & heard other musicians even though he was beyond his contemporaries. I respect Jaco for his contribution to music & quite a genius. But this girl seems beyond Jaco almost, at least close to be fair😅 image in 20 yrs.😨 just like mulitalented British Jacob Collier, Brazilian bass player Micheal Pipoquinha all young prodigies. Most impress was Beethoven deaf & still composing, what a wonder.
