That woman right there absolutely shredding the bass is my cousin sister, my uncle began teaching her bass when she was about three, makes me so proud to see how far she’s come!!
Mohini Dey's interview with Rick Beato shows what a wonder this young woman is. Here she is, surrounded by some of the best musicians, what a delight.
Mohini slapped and they clapped... I keep coming to this video again amd again. That violine piece is so amazing.
This recording was 6 years ago. I just watched Rick Beato's recent interviewing with Mohini Dey on the bass. Absolutely stunning performance.
And he composed it in 1993. When you hear it in 2020, you still feel he composed it yesterday. Way ahead of his times, A.R Rahman !!
Mohini Dey
You are one of the most gifted bassists I have ever watched. My 24 years of playing are irrelevant after watching your mastery. What an amazing gift!
I feel the same way and I've been playing for almost 30 years ! What a talent she has !
Most of India has never listened to the original and best compositions of AR Rahman which are predominantly in Tamil.
We don't give this flutist any credit? He's smashing it hard!
That's the most intelligent audience I've ever witnessed ... who knows when to cheer!
Why comment only about Mohini Dey who is of course a genius beyond par, when I have never heard the guitar so *classical* as Prasanna played it! ❤️
That bassist is groovin like no one's business sheesh, and that dude on the lead is tearin it up wow
Oh. My! I can't believe I am just now seeing this. This is extraordinary!!!!!!!!!
It’s not about individual talent, I’ve never seen a group of musicians collectively enjoy, laugh and smile as this orchestra did in this clip. Sit down in front of a classical orchestra playing the greats of classical music and you will never see the musicians enjoying themselves so much!!!!!
All over the world there is an explosion of amazing young female guitarists and bassists making up for lost time.
I've seen lots of virtuoso sitar playing. I've seen lots of virtuoso guitar playing. I've never seen someone use sitar techniques on a guitar. Brilliant.
I'm a pure Hardcore Metal head, this was an incredible performance, Yanni comes to mind, Absolute incredible musicianship, little Mama on Bass plays it like Eddy Van Halen solo...lol
GODSPEED to all of you 🙏💓🙏
How prasanna's solo is classical and jazzy at the same time... is what makes it so beautiful...
That young woman is a prodigy...
A real legend in the making...
That Bass Guitarist is the true definition of "Hold my beer"
Before this video, I was not even knowing the name of Mohini dey. Such a shame. One the greatest Indian musician I have just watched performing. Goosebumps Goosebumps Goosebumps
Came for A.R Rahman, stayed for Mohini Dey ♥️
The flute player Yazhi Guo is a genius at work... whatever I have seen of him points in that direction...
Love the way the guitarist transitions between sitar and funk/rock.
Man mohini is on fire as is the whole orchestra. Mind blowing
Mohini Dey really knows how to establish her dominance no matter with who she performs! Love both her playing and the energy she shares with the viewers.
And they give Oscars for JAI HO!!!! unbelievable!!
Mohini Dey, You beast....I mean bassist. Those strings seem to be begging for your mercy. Prasanna - your mastery is exquisite..lovely transitions..take a bow sir.
Please give me time to absorb much more of this - it's truly spiritual in the true meaning of the word. Undereducated Scotsmen that I am! (Could be worse - I could been English lol!!
Bad assery on everybody’s part! The technical mastery, the groove, the smiles on people’s faces, dancing in their seats! Just an all round perfect performance!
Belongs to a generation who anxiously wait and grab Thiruda-Thiruda cassette on the first week of release. Sweet memories!
The original song was released in 1993, imagine that!! AR Rahman was so ahead of his time. And so few still recognize his talent, it breaks my heart. Honestly, I think ARR deserved at least 10 Oscars, and he finally got it for one of his most average creation. Jai Ho was shit when compared to his many original Tamil language songs.
The stage of musician's here were absolutely tuned into one another. Like the forces of nature had taught them from birth. Stunning.😎✌
Seen it over a hundred times, still can't get enough of it, this is what happens when masters jam...just wow!!! The vibe from the violinist in the groove says it all...
The guitarist playing the solo sitar style...WOW!!
4:06 prasanna teasing marlagale tune ... this is just outta the world ...
Why Prassana is getting less mentions? Mohini is fantastic no doubt, but Prassana's fusion of the sitar and jazz style was mindblowing....and the small cameo by the flutist was superb...
holy fuck this is one of the best musical performances i have ever seen
He played the hell outta that flute!
Rahman Saab was ahead of time!! This song released in 1993...Still fresh memories watching in Theater n my home Town!! It's just ARR show
This was so beautiful that it made me, a grown man, cry.
This the first time I get to see the bass guitar get the front line limelight. Kudos to the girl...
Unbelievable ! It's not only the incredible bass and also guitar solo, it's the entire group ! Every single musician in this wonderful perormance has joy in fis/her face. THAT'S what musc can do to mankind. No more borders, no differences, but pure expression of having fun when making this music. And these young people have! Thank you for presenting this video on YT. And without understanding the lyrics, I bellieve it must have somehow to do with love. A least I think so . BRILLIANT !
The man plays guitar... Sounds like veena.... So beautiful.
From Australia: Beautiful !!! The Young Lady playing the Bass guitar is Superb !!!!
There is only one reason the world should be together, for music!
Ok, I clicked this just just for a peek. Oh my, fantastic 🤗
Thought my face was going to break.....had such a big smile!!!
what have i just discovered , here i go getting hooked again.
They are all wonderful musicians - however, the joy on their faces is worth a trillion words... awesome
With due respect to all comments about Mohini Dey I have to say that very few can play what Prasanna sir played so easily.. Its just mindblowing.. The whole thing..
I don't know how many times I've come back here but you always amaze me! It's the chrorus, the percussion, the violins, the guitar, the bass, the flute... all excellently played by you, talented musicians. My admiration, love and respect to you all! ♡
Imagine a single human brain came up with this composition 😅 I can't this do this even in a lifetime, AR Rehman sir ❤️
Omg Prasanna... U are amazing.. Wish I cud say I witnessed something like before.... The best piece was the classical bit on lead.... U nailed it
This is how to pay tribute to the legendary Rahman - not by butchering his sublime creations into something absolutely horrid as T-Series is doing these days !
Ok, I'm gonna go chop up my guitar and throw it in the fireplace now.
Mind boggling talent and music The guy and women is world class guitarists wat bassist..👌👌👌👌👌👌👌
Really enjoyed this Great Tribute by Berklee College to A. R. Rahman. Outstanding work by Prasanna & Mohini!!
Prasanna and Mohini Dey....both of them literally took it to the next level of "divinity". Music of 'Thiruda Thiruda' by ARR was and is still way ahead of its time.
I have watched this countless times and I don't know what to say. This is certainly the most wonderful thing I have ever heard and seen. How can one describe the absolute joy, musicianship, enthusiasm, human unity, transcendent spirit and great hope this brings? We will all be alright if we can be together like this. This is pure beauty and joy. This is hope and faith. This is poetry and love. This is absolutely required listening and viewing for all! Many comments here say "tears of joy" and that is indeed so! Etcetera!
This is the Ultimate Concert ....I just cry in joy and ecstatic appreciation of its breadth and -beauty ....wowzeeeee
Prasana's beautiful sitar sounds were amazing! I'm going to try that. His solo was unique to me and very moving.
That woman who’s on bass is out of this world 😱😱😱😱😱😱😱
you all are just wonderfully gifted, excellent musicians. I wish that your ensemble would come to Melbourne Australia. the people whose chose to give this performance a thumbs down do not know what music is. I am a 60 year old who plays a bit of bass guitar and have grown up with country , pop, rock, jazz, and all the other modern b/s music, but I listen to your songs almost everyday. Mohini and Prassana are excellent but the whole ensemble makes it a totally melodious experience, Your diversity of nationalities only proves that we are all human beings and the same. Man is the demon who makes us believe that we are all different.
EXCELLENTE
Jaco pastorius is smiling somewhere and mohini dey is unbelievable and prasanna .. gosh .. this is music at its best 👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻
One of the most finest pieces I ever heard.
I had heard a lot about genius Prasanna Garu, now I've seen him play finally, one of the great guitarists of our generation, no kidding..
this cultures ability to envelope new things that they invented anyhow is astounding , me in a blues band in the states the old guys would yell if i slapped !!! go india
What a symphony! Absolutely gorgeous performances by all the very very talented artists! Superb!!
Man, this performance almost brought me to tears! Such a joyful sound!!!! Absolutely LOVE THIS!!!!!
Mohini Dey is so talented it is unreal. She's like bass royalty.
India !!! INDIA!!THE BEST MUSIC!!CULTURE BEAUTIFUL!!!MOHINY DAY!!LOVE!!LOVE!!
Great mix of traditional indian music and funk. The soloists are all great and inspiring, the bass is incredible. Thanks a lot for loading
That's some SICK bass playing right there! WOW!
That Electric Bass. ❤️
And the smile on the face of the performers describes that they know they are part of something big.
I have returned to this video so many times just to hear the solos of both the guitarists. Both are so awesome.
Emotionally overwhelming virtuosity by young, extraordinarily gifted multi-cultural musicians. . .truly world music. Bless these kids! Amazing. . . the future before our eyes.
Wow !!! I was brought here by some friend ....Its my first time seeing this kind of performance. ,so incredible ! Hands down to everyone ...they all harmonizes very well with each other ..just amazing ! 😯😯😯 The female guitarist , caughts my attention from the very beginning , wow , she's so good , unbelievable ..! 😯😯😯 Thank you for this wonderful performance , greetings from the Philippines 😊😘
OK, girl is a talent, but what realy touch me is that guitar solo :). Great guitar player, and great tone!
Its too much to handle... Its so beautifully overwhelming, i hold my breath everytime i listen to this... Its like free falling from a 100 storey building
Each time I hear this, eyes got filled with tears of joy.. I realise the power of music to touch the my feelings.. ❤
Absolutely loved it.
Love from Bhutan 🇧🇹
One of the most joyful and exquisite musical moments of my life!
Much respect and love from Aizawl ( the city of Music) , India
Music has no religion,no racism , no discrimination it's brings the joy of pleasant emotions ,feelings , harmony, peace ✌️
Bass player just casually melting facing everywhere. Love when talented people make things look effortless.
No one's doubting the genius ARR sir! But to reproduce his classics in such a way (flawless and improvised) is absolutely incredible. Mohini Dey, Prasanna, the flute player and the entire background musicians - Everyone is on top of his/her game. The joy on their faces shows how much they enjoyed performing this on stage. Thank you Berklee. Tears of joy! :)
What an amazing performance! Not only Prasanna and Mohini Dey are perfect, the whole ensemble shines. Can you imagine that after watching this (and the other videos of the same concert) I embarked on a now one year long journey through a nearly unlimited world of Indian music? Not only pop/fusion and Bollywood songs - the Berklee Indian Ensemble also directed me to Indian Classical Music (both Hindustani & Carnatic). There are so many talented musicians in and from India out there! Bands/singers like Maati Baani, Nirali Kartik, Sona Mohapatra, Chaar Hazaari, Agam, The Kheyaal-E-Jazz Projekt, all the wonderful artists on KappaTV’s Music Mojo (also here on youtube) and many many more. Though I have a very wide musical listening background across nearly every genre, I am currently listening to about 75% Indian music and I am not getting tired.
Já assisti mais de 20 vezes. Sempre volto para ouvir novamente. Obrigado !
Mohini dey🔥🔥🔥 my goodness! She is such a legend.i used to call her Bass goddess. go on girl...
I have been watching Yazhi Guo's mastery on flute with ARR s songs. completely in tune with the original. He makes a Perfect entry in this song. So hard to orchestrate this. Kudos Annette for conceptualising.
Mohini Dey has become a regular with A.R.Rehman live concerts......its a real treat to watch her strumming the guitar.....she deserves all the success in life!
Wow! What energy, and all the various parts making a complete whole, voices, strings, percussion and main instrumentalists coming together for quite an experience.
She owns that bass damn she’s good
Prasanna's appearance is totally different from a normal guitar player. No long hair and no crazy costume. Such a humble person.
As a musical illiterate, I see a group of talented musicians, as soon as they started playing have risen from their mortal bodies as if they are one with their inner being, in harmony with the universe, at their happiest and at peace. Alas the music has to end and they have to revert to being normal human beings!!!
Love the little Wooten tease in the middle of her solo.
Prasanna sir is one of my fav guitarists his technique is just godly and mohini Dey is also definitely a master bassist
AR Rahman deserves another Oscar for his composition of Thee Thee
Even in orchestral music,Mohini shines like Brightest Star 🌟🌟🌟,shout out to all of you...
- THIS SONG STUCK MY HEAD wherever i go i sing tagataktakadakdakatah HAHHA by the way i don't know how many times I've come back here , they always amaze me! All musicians are really played it well:]]
She’s top notch. A pure rocket. God plays through you.
