    One of my favorite styles of martial arts, and it had a great influence on Karate!

    Great video James, and I remember watching that fight live! Revers frontal is a really simple kick which anyone can do (technically) but adding the setups can really make the difference between throwing it and scoring with it.

    I'm from greece and more specifically sparta, so combat is in my dna😂 Savate is the first martial art that I learnt and have been practicing for 3 years now, and because of it I have developed a very unique way of striking as savate itself is really unique style. I aim to master Savate and then move on to wrestling so I can become a more well rounded and scary fighter, savate will always be my roots tho. @London Savate, you are truly the representative of savte in yt, and your videos are great. I would love however if your videos included more sparring and the applications of the techniques in a sparring session-fight. I also would want to know your opinion on savate in mma.

    Think my flexibility/mobility has improved enough to try using the revrs frontal more often, so I'll give this a try.

      Nice. I think revers fontal is a good kick to reach head height first when improving flexibility. Let me know how you get on!

    Excellent teaching, I wonder why this more easier kick with the inside sole move is forbidden.

    • @LondonSavate
      @LondonSavate  3 роки тому +1

      Great question. I have my own theory that it is because the movement would be made with no preparation. The fouetté, chassé and revers latéral must all be preceded by a chamber (armé) for legal trajectory. The outside revers frontal also needs a preparation of the hips, but the inside revers would not. So I guess it is not in keeping with the dynamics of the style to allow a kick with no preparation. Just a theory.

    I am an Italian fighter with a Russian coach :) great video, very useful, but since I am more used to kickboxing rules I need a clarification: apart from lowering the opponent's guard, the reverse kick can be used to score points? If I hit him in the face, is it a point? Thanks a lot in advance

    • @LondonSavate
      @LondonSavate  3 роки тому +1

      Yes indeed. If the trajectory of the kick is good and it touches the head, the judges should note points. The goal of Assaut is to touch open targets with legal, well-controlled strikes.

    1:05 Wait, but can't you just follow up with a chasse frontal from that position?

    • @LondonSavate
      @LondonSavate  2 роки тому

      Yes, I reckon you could, with the rear leg most likely to help out. You may, however, still be faced with a retreating opponent, who could evade the chassé frontal as well (depending on the space now left behind them). You are still best, I reckon, to engage them first and, after all, the video is concerned with how to land the revers

  • @solarjudgement4575
    @solarjudgement4575 2 роки тому

    Why are kicks limited? Like you mention in here that you can only throw an outside revers frontal and not an inside revers frontal. I would think savate competitions would be better if allowed to use all techniques in style. Just like how Taekwondo doesn't allow legs kicks, punches, elbows, or knees...which does a disservice to the style.

    • @LondonSavate
      @LondonSavate  2 роки тому

      Let's say your suggestion were taken up by both sports - wouldn't they then tend towards becoming the same as each other? More generally, if all strikes were legal in all arts, we would lose the different styles and approaches, and lose the richness we gain from having them. Rules make styles; that's the reason I'd propose.
