PiG absolutely loving the casts of Stormgate and the speed with which they are coming out. I almost feel like im in 2010 in the StarCraft beta. All I need now is something akin to the Day9 daily.
Definitely one of the best SG matches I've seen so far. It feels Steiner just didn't do enough to punish the early 3rd base from Jadozer. From the play at 1:10 we can tell Steiner's SCOUT micro is strong, so I would have liked to see him build a few more dogs to spot that greedy expansion sooner and harrass it. Jadozers early economic lead let him take a really good fight around 8:30 that snowballed the game. Jadozer was able to keep the pressure up with Sprigands and Dragon picking off undefended bases, meanwhile Steiner had zero harassment after his first dog until like 16:50 when he brought out the Hornets, but at that point it's too little too late.
On the last video I saw a comment about how this game just repeats the problems of sc2 while not doing anything new. I think its really funny how much the rts community can see one game and take away the complete opposite conclusions.
I think one thing the game is doing better than starcraft is better worker to army ratio. In SC2 you don't get rewarded too much for taking bases beyond 3 because you can't saturate them without it cutting too much into your army supply because max is too low. In Stormgate you always get rewarded for taking more bases pretty much.
@@Sam-zy8pc Stronger defender advantage, less reliance on gimmicks like force field, less eco game-enders like widow mine, oracle etc, longer time to react in fights and I could find a couple more
My biggest challenge is those great hotkeys. I just keep trying to micro bobs, when I don't have to. I was grouping my racks before even realized you can just build from hotkey menu. lol. Old habits die hard. These high levels really do show what's already possible.
I love watching all these games! It's so exciting to watch people figure out the game, figure out what's good, figure out counters, etc. What a time to be an RTS fan.
I love how this game is turning out to be. It's already exciting to watch these high-level games with non-stop back-and-forth battles. And also, pretty solid casting!
Excited to see this game developed, I remember i started watching starcraft 2 before legacy of the void came out and ive seen it evolve since then I imagine this game is going to do the same with innovations after full release, still havnt even seen what they want to do for other races
You know, I wasn't sold on the slower combats of Stormgate at first, but now I see it's fast enough when you get large numbers of units involved. Whereas in SC2 everything would just explode on contact in bigger fights. The hellborn splash damage seems really, really weak though. But direct impact damage is solid. I guess the devs are being cautious with the splash for massed engagements. One thing I still don't like is because there's such a reliance on melee units with medium speed, all that shuffling around and kiting from WC3 is back and that just felt bad. Compared to SC2 where zerglings were usually fast enough to stay on units, and zealots didn't need to be fast as they backed up the range units, eventually getting charge too.
Pig you should do an early mass air (hornet) build order. Get a few lancers to defend and then just pump out harriers. I'm sure you could get the timing down better than me. You can't sleep though cause mass exos or hedgehogs will counter.
I find it's best to go 2 base, wall in, build the 3 hangers in the farthest corner of your first base where your opponent won't scout, and move in when you have 6 Hornets.
Sounds like a fun idea. I haven't been able to consistently kite down the shadowflyers yet but maybe if I get good enough at that micro it'll become super viable. The shield is so damned good for tanking multiple shadowflyers or tanking whilst blasting through shroudstones so it pairs up super nicely with the hornets
@@PiGCastsTwo good idea with the shield. Also if you macro well enough to create 16 hornets you can split them and harass one base to pull the army then use the other half to attack another base. 8 hornets should be enough to kill a shroud stone.
ive watched about 8 videos about stormgate and still havent seen vanguard winning vs inferno 😅i know it's still open test but they clearly need to buff vang or nerf inferno
Balance will be a secondary thing during this stage of development. Non the less, there are some really good Vanguard players that almost lost no games to Infernals. The main thought right now is that Infernal is just a tid easier to play early game, so they often get ahead and then win. But if Vanguard gets the early game Infernals are kinda dead it seems. Anyway, with how rapid the game is evolution this might be the other way around next week, let alone when tier 3 units are added, or the 3rd race.
@@dialaneog715 Is there any high-level game where Van beats Inf (other than taking a map with cheese)? Would love to see one to see how that plays out. If there isn't a single match, though, I'd say that's straight up borked and not just a balance issue....
Only in the mirror, it seems ;) Seriously though, was wondering the same thing -- I haven't found any at least.. Seems very broken, but no one is commenting on it so ... maybe those just haven't been cast or something?
I must say i am not imprest with Vanguard units. There is a clear way with infernal unit counters with vanguard units but not that mutch the other way around. How do you counter Flayed dragon, infernal version of "Scourges" or Magmadons?
The races not being finished yet is definitely the contributing factor, pretty sure in the next build the equivalent of BC's or Thors will deal with them.
Just played my first match against AI. Cant wait to sink some hours into this. I really hope they do something about the overall controls for the game though. It feels like little to no progress has been made with actually manipulating units. It feels so handicapped compared to Beyond All Reason, the control you have over hundreds of units in that game is vastly superior to these old clunk starcraft 1 based control mechanics, I cant understand why no one else had adopted what Beyond All Reason has accomplished. Its like trying to drive a car with a joystick versus a steering wheel. If your gonna drive a forklift then its fine, but if you want to rip down the highway at 80mph then your want a steering wheel. Please tell the Devs to do something, we cant go into 2024 and have made no improvement in the control mechanics of RTS. If we want mass adoption then we need to update these old clunky A-Move commands, and no ability to shape battle formation without box clicking or adjusting individual units.

Thanks mate! Kinda taken a crash course in the game myself so it's really fun figuring out how everything works so far
yeah really enjoyed this! looking forward to the full release!

I think the game has immense potential, the devs are doing lots of things right that SC2 failed at.
I don't disagree but would you mind expanding on the things SC2 failed at that stormgate is doing?
Like…?

Wasn’t fully convinced on stormgate’s concepts for each race until this game. I kinda see stormgate shining with its own identity here

There is a theme in every VvI game i watch. Infernals win
No this is new. Now infernals are wining even in late game :D
he has great lancer micro
awesome new channel, was wondering where the Stormgate games were :)
That was a great match to watch!

Love the videos pig!! Really scratches the itch since my laptop can’t run the closed beta 😭😭😂
Love the Stormgate Casting, prefere it eaven to Sc2 at the moment, keep it up!
pig start something like the pylon show for SC2+stormgate (?) with a couple pro/caster/anyone friends :)
cool idea for once the games in early access/a little bit further along

It's probably the rts with the best readability I've ever seen, but it's also on the uglier side. The two are probably related.
He invested to much into exos instead of lancers. Lancer med atlas would have won that fight.
im just happy to see infernal beating vanguard in a late game fight
After all the talking from Frostgiant about how "new" this game will be, they just made Starcraft 3.
This game is pretty hot garbage
