I had two sets of these back in the late sixties that were Oaklawn made. One was 22" bass, 13" & 16" toms (all in white satin flame) and a metal 5 1/2" x 14" metal snare with dual release snares that I really loved and regular Camco pedals and stands. A few months after I bought those I had occasion to visit the factory in Oaklawn and John? Roshon gave me a tour. As we came back through a doorway into the office area I spotted a smaller set stacked on the floor in a beautiful walnut finish and began to drool. When I got back to Columbus, one of my students asked me how much I would sell my old Gretsch set for and I sold it to him for the same money it cost me to buy that little walnut set plus the metal snare and stands and hardware to go with it. Since I was working at a club in Columbus and the Ohio State Fair backing major acts I finally had two awesome sets, one at home to practice and use for outside gigs and one to leave in place at the club. EVERY other drummer that came in wanted to steal them from me. Not a day goes by that I don' wish I still had that small set. It was furniture in my family room and an incredible set to play. In 1975, after I was out of playing for awhile I bought a champagne sparkle (Camco) set with double smalll toms and floor tom (12, 13 & 16") etc. which I used on small gigs and in the studio. These were all awesome sets which always spoke so well. LOVED THEM ALL!
The touch of Steve Maxwell... Impeccable
Camco was far ahead of their time! Great playing Steve!
This kit fits you like a glove. Makes you sound great. Keep It.
Those sound great. Steve you really bring this kit to life.
Stunning Steve ...I can tell you're anxious to get back.to playing..
Esp with this to demo...
Cool man, that kit is cool... 😊 I'm looking at a CCR album, I see Doug Cosmo Clifford, frozen in time, playing a Camco kit, just like yours.. the album cover is a bit faded, looks like birch, love the sound you get out of it man...!! ❤ Thanks.... 😊
😎👍💓🇺🇸🥁🔊🎼 LOVE da OAKLAWN Cammies!!!
I could listen to Steve play all day. For way less money, I might buy the Gretsch Catalina Club kit in Yellow, Its not this Camco, but hey 😀
Lovely ride!!! I wish I could of heard it more.
