Let's be honest. Michael Jackson music videos with the best chroreography could easily be the top 5 of this list. Thriller, Remember the time, Smooth Criminal, Beat It, Bad. But it's unfair for the other artists. So, I understand the decision here.

Michael and Janet Jackson alone could occupy the top 10 with Thriller, Smooth Criminal, Remember the Time, Rhythm Nation, Pleasure Principal, Bad, Scream, Alright, If, Nasty. Slave 4U by Britney would've been a better choice, or even Me Against the Music with Madonna. Touch by Omarion deserved to be included.

One of the few videos that drew from modern dance was Kate Bush's visually striking "Running Up That Hill". The song, the dance performances, the choreography, and the art direction all work together to create a timeless classic in fusing pop with high art. For sheer nuttiness, the choreography in Bjork's "It's Oh So Quiet" provided a crazy modern take on the classic musical dance sequence and was her biggest hit. For sophisticated street-influenced dancing and choreography, as well as the overall visual package, check out Jungle music videos, like "Back on 74" or "I've Been in Love". To me, the performances in their videos beat a lot of the music videos on this list.
She was starting to get more into acting and wanted to do more. I sometimes wonder if we would've known her more as an actress than a singer if she was still living. Like for ex, i think my generation knows Ice Cube and Queen Latifah more as actors than rappers. Beyonce tries acting, but it never seems to land or go far (I think people thought Dreamgiris was going to do it, but Jennifer Hudson got that one). Aaliyah truly was a talent!
A huge foul not to include Breezy. Some of the most iconic choreography ever from Run It, Fine China, and definitely Loyal to name just a few. This list is very well made but CB's exclusion is definitely noticeable.
Man I called a whole bunch of these and seeing Michael at #8 I knew they couldn't leave Thriller off this list, I was like, it has to be there. Vogue, Rhythm Nation, Uptown Funk, these are staples of dance.
well thrill really only had the one dance scene that was used several times in the video. the hype of the thriller video saturated everything and really elevated an average song to falsely mythic status. when i still listened to him (can't anymore after hearing those boys' story about being molested by him) but all time favorite was The Way You Make Me Feel. miss it. but he turned out to be a creep. Prince was way better anyway.
Britney only being mentioned once is insane. Slave 4 U is one of the absolute most iconic pieces of choreography ever put together, to the point where other artists have straight up jacked moves from it. Me Against The Music has better and more intricate choreography than over half of this list. PCD could easily have multiple spots on this list too.
I spent my very young childhood watching the Cold Hearted video. The "s-s-snake" part was my favorite. I only remembered that when the nostalgia drilled me in my face, 'bout four minutes ago. Good memories. I had to say thank you. Have not heard that song in at least three decades. Thank you so much!
I remember all the excitement waiting for this video to premiere on MTV. When it came on, we were mesmerized! It was and still is the most amazing video of all time. Michael Jackson was so incredibly talented and his album Thriller displays that talent in all its glorious form.
I know it's over 30 years old and not on anyone's radar, but so glad that Paula Abdul's Cold Hearted made this. Raucous, naughty, and intense choreography.
well madonna actually is the queen of pop and dance. she reinvented the live stage show. plus she was an actual dancer, not just an imitator as so many others are. take their choreograph away, they can't do anything. MJ's "dancing" was almost less than one-note. SAME THING EVERY TIME. where's the evolution? good music though at the time.
Only 17 takes? That’s…fantastic. Especially for 4 guys that are a rock band and not dancers. If I was choosing choreography of BTS and their songs it would hands down be Save Me. I love Black Swan for the contemporary/modern style. However Save Me is just….grand. Or OR!!! Fire 🔥 yeah that great choreography too.
Any BTS choreo could make this list 💜💜💜. I do like Black Swan because it allows Jimin’s contemporary to excel. But Blood Sweat and Tears, Dynamite, On, Idol, and Fire are also amazing. I could keep going on.
Sadly, The Pussycat Dolls suffered from "the curse of the one". Scherzinger was featured as the "important one" and the others were limited to the background. It became Nicole and the Cats.
I worked so hard to learn that choreography from "The Making of If"!! Every time that song came on, I was like, "Clear the living room. I gotta dance with Janet." 🥰🥰🥰
Chalk up another one for the King of Pop🤴🏿 and his sister, too. Michael and Janet are the 2 out of their siblings who are known to be very iconic and popular for their work. They honestly could've made a whole 30s list dedicated to them since they each have good songs
Yeaaa this list is completely out of order because Can’t touch this over Smooth criminal is ACTUALLY criminal. No doubt Thriller is #1 though🔥. Mj could be on this whole list by himself✨.
i was gonna insist that the kinetic film for "ON" be BTS' feature on this list but there is something very special about black swan... not sure if i'd say it was "inspired by swan lake/the movie black swan," though, as the song is actually inspired by the martha graham quote "a dancer dies twice-once when they stop dancing, and this first death is the more painful." the lyrics are about their fear of reaching a point where music no longer moves them and they feel no more passion for their career, and what will they live for when that moment comes? it's extremely fitting that the song was the first single from what was supposed to be their final album before they went on hiatus to fulfill their military duties, and they talked about feeling like they had "nothing left to say" - which you can definitely feel in their solo projects as they fill in the gaps before their 2025 reunion. it's certainly one of their most artistic works and it's such a shame the grammys are so xenophobic they were denied recognition for it.
Janet Jackson's "When I Think of You" should be included just because of all the choreography and the 'one take' of it. "Deeper Shade of Blue" by Steps is so iconic around the world (except the US), that people around the world dance along with the choreography of the chorus.
I honestly though, was expecting some of Chris Brown choreographic songs to be on here like Yo(Excuse Me Miss) or She Ain't You, but this is good, too. MJ is my favorite artist and it's his sister, Janet's birthday, so it was nice of Mojo to make a list mentioning some of her best songs
Janet and Michael being not only the top two but throughout shows you how amazing they are. We actually played smooth criminal video for our kids the other night and I just recovered from a broken hip but still had to get up and dance lol
I will make my personal honorable mention list and under the radar... and everytime I return, I will remember some of my favorite that are "dancing" movie videos one way or another.. well, at least they are choreographed (had I spelled it right?): - Pillar Point - "Dove" - Madonna - "Human Nature" - The Chemical Brothers - "Wide Open" - Martin Jensen - "Solo Dance" - Breach - "Everything You Never Had" - Will Butler - "Anna" - Arcade Fire - "We Exist" - Björk - "It's Oh So Queit" - Claptone - "In the Night" - Jungle - "Time" (or "Julia" or any other Jungle's M/Vs, but "Time" holds a special place for me) - Monarchy - "Love Get Out Of My Way" - Robyn - "Call Your Girlfriend" - Jamiroquai - "Virtual Insanity" - Chet Faker - "Gold" - Sigala - "Sweet Lovin'" (might be updated soon. and i do accept more suggestions like these ones)
How is Chris Brown not on this list. I know he’s a controversial figure but there’s no taking away the fact that he can dance better than the majority of the people on this list and his videos definitely reflect that.
MJ and JJ could have filled the entire list between them. Still, i know the list needed representation. The lack of videos from the new Jack swing era of R&B as well from late eighties hip hop is sad to see. New Edition’s If it isn’t Love is notable in its absence as well as numerous video’s by Troop. Oh and how is Jamiriquio’s(sp) Virtual Insanity not here? Still, it’s a solid list.
@@kaimosley6296 Well… you just answered your own question. Duh! But apparently you don’t know about the original “Ain’t It Funny,” “I’m Glad,” “Ain’t Your Mama,” “If You Had My Love,” “Dinero,” “Papi,” the list goes on & on.

A huge foul not to include Breezy. Some of the most iconic choreography ever from Run It, Fine China, and definitely Loyal to name just a few. This list is very well made but CB's exclusion is definitely noticeable.
I was looking for this comment. Breezy should mos def be in the top 10 !
The choreography for his song "Wall to Wall" is insane. He should have made the list.
Shakira and JLO are not on the list and "Try" (Pink video) is a copy of "I did it again" by Shakira
@@dalestark9505what a comedian
Ok Janet and Mike in the top two. They both pave rhe way for the rest
Glad Aaliyah got her dues on this count down ❤
This generation will never understand how amazing Aaliyah and to this day it’s disgusting how much they wear her shirt and don’t even know her
Omg i cried when Aaliyah popped up....i love how she is finally being included in one of these countdowns 🙏🏽 thank you
I spent my very young childhood watching the Cold Hearted video. The "s-s-snake" part was my favorite. I only remembered that when the nostalgia drilled me in my face, 'bout four minutes ago. Good memories. I had to say thank you. Have not heard that song in at least three decades. Thank you so much!
Paula was everything
I was hoping to see a TLC video maybe creep
Yeah, Waterfalls or Scrubs should’ve bumped at least ONE of those videos off.
@@chrystiafreelandscankles548 for choreographed videos no scrubs or creep but not waterfalls
I remember all the excitement waiting for this video to premiere on MTV. When it came on, we were mesmerized! It was and still is the most amazing video of all time. Michael Jackson was so incredibly talented and his album Thriller displays that talent in all its glorious form.
No Jlo!!?? Yall trippin say what u want about her but her choreography is top notch
There’s nothing bad to say about her, she’s a standout megastar.
I know it's over 30 years old and not on anyone's radar, but so glad that Paula Abdul's Cold Hearted made this. Raucous, naughty, and intense choreography.
BTS' Black Swan - sends chills down my spine 💜💜💜 My boys
Mike & Janet are the King & Queen of Pop and dance!
well madonna actually is the queen of pop and dance. she reinvented the live stage show. plus she was an actual dancer, not just an imitator as so many others are. take their choreograph away, they can't do anything. MJ's "dancing" was almost less than one-note. SAME THING EVERY TIME. where's the evolution? good music though at the time.
@@dalestark9505MJs dancing was almost less than one note? What a comedian. He's the only recording artist inducted into the dance hall of fame
“If” was a game changer.
I worked so hard to learn that choreography from "The Making of If"!! Every time that song came on, I was like, "Clear the living room. I gotta dance with Janet." 🥰🥰🥰
“Weapon of Choice” by Fatboy Slim?
Christopher Walken doing what Christopher Walken does.
I know right, fully expecting it Top 5 - even won a Moonman for Best Choreography. Maybe being a solo act was a detriment.
And Daft Punk - Around the world!
@@CHEEKY_MONKEY amazing this one was missed
they forget the best videos ever
Aaliyah! 🕊️
No denying a lot of talent runs in the Jacksons
Chalk up another one for the King of Pop🤴🏿 and his sister, too. Michael and Janet are the 2 out of their siblings who are known to be very iconic and popular for their work. They honestly could've made a whole 30s list dedicated to them since they each have good songs
I remember seeing “Vogue” as a World Premiere Video on MTV in 1990. It was just amazing.
Michael Jackson has the best coreo but I also love aliyah she was beautiful and talented
Obviously Thriller is #1😊
I think that's something a lot of people can agree on. It is the blueprint.
New Edition's "if it isn't love" should be on the list.
I agree
Yeaaa this list is completely out of order because Can’t touch this over Smooth criminal is ACTUALLY criminal.
No doubt Thriller is #1 though🔥. Mj could be on this whole list by himself✨.
It's the brother and sister vibe for me
Shakira is so amazing her moves are hypnotic. Shakira is a great dancer she mostly choreographed and improvised her own dance moves
That Pink choreo and how she performs it is amazing!!!
No umbrella by Rihanna?!?
I LOVE Rihanna, but best dance video...nahhhh
Normani, Ciara, Usher, Paula, Missy, with Janet and Michael being the top. Great list!
i was gonna insist that the kinetic film for "ON" be BTS' feature on this list but there is something very special about black swan... not sure if i'd say it was "inspired by swan lake/the movie black swan," though, as the song is actually inspired by the martha graham quote "a dancer dies twice-once when they stop dancing, and this first death is the more painful." the lyrics are about their fear of reaching a point where music no longer moves them and they feel no more passion for their career, and what will they live for when that moment comes? it's extremely fitting that the song was the first single from what was supposed to be their final album before they went on hiatus to fulfill their military duties, and they talked about feeling like they had "nothing left to say" - which you can definitely feel in their solo projects as they fill in the gaps before their 2025 reunion. it's certainly one of their most artistic works and it's such a shame the grammys are so xenophobic they were denied recognition for it.
Make your own video?
Great list ! Honourable mention to : Cream - Prince and One Thing - Amerie
Yess Amerie
Thieves in the Temple for Prince.
Amerie was amazing, she was unfortunately overshadowed by Beyoncé
Pretty sure Uptown Funk is going to live forever even without the video.
Cmon!!!! Any 1 of MJ’s videos wr all top 10!!! He was iconic n innovative!!!! RIP…🩷🎼🌷
IF, OMG!!!!! So happy that you included this. Best dance song video ever!
Watchmojo hates him. It goes to show you that the media is super biased. This list is a joke. I'm so glad other channels make lists.
Janet and Michael Jackson taught me how to dance as a child. I watched MTV none stop just to learn. ❤️ Epic dancers.
Daft Punk - Around the World
Björk - It's Oh So Quiet
Fatboy Slim - Weapon of Choice
Three perfect choices
inoj - ring my bell
Janet and Michael being not only the top two but throughout shows you how amazing they are. We actually played smooth criminal video for our kids the other night and I just recovered from a broken hip but still had to get up and dance lol
Kudos to Michael & Janet Jackson, Fatima Robinson and Darren Henson. 👏🏽 👏🏽 👏🏽
I will make my personal honorable mention list and under the radar... and everytime I return, I will remember some of my favorite that are "dancing" movie videos one way or another.. well, at least they are choreographed (had I spelled it right?):
- Pillar Point - "Dove"
- Madonna - "Human Nature"
- The Chemical Brothers - "Wide Open"
- Martin Jensen - "Solo Dance"
- Breach - "Everything You Never Had"
- Will Butler - "Anna"
- Arcade Fire - "We Exist"
- Björk - "It's Oh So Queit"
- Claptone - "In the Night"
- Jungle - "Time" (or "Julia" or any other Jungle's M/Vs, but "Time" holds a special place for me)
- Monarchy - "Love Get Out Of My Way"
- Robyn - "Call Your Girlfriend"
- Jamiroquai - "Virtual Insanity"
- Chet Faker - "Gold"
- Sigala - "Sweet Lovin'"
(might be updated soon. and i do accept more suggestions like these ones)
How is Chris Brown not on this list. I know he’s a controversial figure but there’s no taking away the fact that he can dance better than the majority of the people on this list and his videos definitely reflect that.
I don't agree but we all have a right to our opinions
Oooh, "when i grow up" was my summer '06 JAM. And love the shoutout to "case of the ex"!
Great list but so many missing like ....TLC Waterfall,, Jennifer Lopez and Justin Timberlake after Nsync
JLo for sure.
Would've loved to see Creep or No Scrubs on there
What jlo. Video...maybe get right or do it well but that's it
@@kaimosley6296 Well… you just answered your own question. Duh! But apparently you don’t know about the original “Ain’t It Funny,” “I’m Glad,” “Ain’t Your Mama,” “If You Had My Love,” “Dinero,” “Papi,” the list goes on & on.
“Dance Again” & “Love Don’t Cost A Thing” I can keep going.
I loved Jamiroquai's Virtual Insanity video. It is so unique and innovative.
This list was dope but goodies by Ciara would be great too
Yah. Even “like a boy” is good
Like a boy
I was thinking Iike a boy aswell
Miss You Much by Janet Jackson should be in at least the top 5. That chair routine toward the conclusion is amazing and has been copied by other artists, like Backstreet Boys.
Definitely
I agree 100,000%
Any chair routine will be an homage to Bob Fosse, not to a modern artist
@evygaspar It will if it's a routine from a modern artist copied step by step by another artist or artists.
This video is legit based on it's #2 and #1 spots ALONE. Well done MsMojo
#5, my favorite artist, song, and number. 🩵
woooo!!!this is the KIND of music that i adore to listen!!!i"m goes crazy(literally)when i watch the videos or listen to the radio🎧🎤🎶
