These aren't real people who are actually bothered or insulted by Dave's story and making angry comments: it's the bots commenting. And someone is paying for the bots to post here. So what's going on? Something involving money.
People like Dave. He's not like a polarizing guy like an Axl Rose, where half the public decided they hated him for reasons or no reasons, and the other half love him.
Basically, everyone likes Dave's era of Van Halen and were bummed out when it ended. If you aren't a fan of Dave, you just forgot about him and it only takes a reminder, to bring back how cool he is.
