I love the chilled, bimbling way you share your love of guitars. No hype, no sell, just a relaxing 1/2 hour checking out all the affordable guitars we’ve been thinking of nabbing. The ASMR to the guitar community. Long may you continue
Cheers I appreciate that! 😁🙏
I don't think it's so much showing off the SGs, so much as watching you glow with happiness! I think that's the best part. A happy man and his collection of wonderful things.
Cheers! 😁👍
I am an American and I love your "accent" and manner of presentation. I have purchased guitars based on your suggestions such a new Epiphone SC Custom. I like it. It plays really well. Much better upper fret access than a lot of other guitars. My next purchase will be an Epiphone SG with P90's. I just cant see paying more for a Gibson that isn't a huge improvement over the new Epiphones. Thank you again.
Personally I think the British Accent is very annoying
You can not have enough SG‘s. Took me a couple of years to get one, but these are absolutely fabulous guitars. The P-90 ones are absolute beasts.
The wide-thin body of an SG resonates better than the single-cuts, which translates to the pickups, and the neck pickup is moved up a bit from the 24th fret nodal point so the neck-joint won't be too thin, and which improves the neck pickup's tone imo (some will disagree).
I CAN'T find a good one. And when I did in Portland at Trade Up Music - I went down the stree to a pie and coffee place on foot 15 minutes later it was gone. SOB.
What a collection ,Colin I too have a love for Gibson Sgs, my lovely wife supprised me for my birthday and bought me the Toni Iommi monkey SG she had it overnight shipped so I could have it for Christmas seeing how my birthday is 2 days after Christmas, she keept it hid, what a wonderful present, man I love my wife
Nice one! 😁👍
She’s a keeper for sure!! The wife sounds ok too!!😂😂😂

These videos make my week man! from one GAS sufferer to another, I speak for us all when I say you're a legend Colin
I have a 1965 SG Jr. that I bought new while in high school. I was 16 years old (I'm 74 now). Traded my Gibson ES-120T + $50.00 to pay for it. It came in that same ratty case you have. Got a proper hard shell case. I play it at least once a week with the "geezer" band I'm in. Drums, PA, amps in my basement. Mine had an odd whammy bar set up on it which was original and it's only purpose was to detune the guitar upon use. I removed it and replaced the compensated bridge with a Leo Quan Badass bridge. Installed Grover tuners in the early 7o's. I do have all the original bits. Single P90 through a V3 Big Muff into a silver face Twin Reverb.....it's what Heaven sounds like.
SGs just aren’t something I’ve ever lusted after, although I have absolutely nothing against them. But that pink one? My GAWD I love that thing!
It's great to have a guitar obsession.
After watching your post, I bought an Epiphone SG Special in Pelham Blue just like yours. It’s among my top favorite instruments in my collection. None of the anxiety associated with bringing one of the Les Paul’s out of safety of being secure in the case. The SG is an expression machine, quite unique in its voice and inspirational abilities. Hard to say which is best above all, but the SG is absolutely a very strong contender for GOAT ✌️🫶
I love the story of how you sold your motorbike and bought an SG with the money. I'd say that was the best choice you could make! It brought you joy for many years and now you're bringing us joy with these videos! 😁 Keep 'em coming and keep on rocking! 🤘
Cheers Les! 😁👍
Bloody love Friday Colin time, genuinely relaxes me haha
Yep. SG's all the way. I have never found a strat I've bonded with. I thought Les Paul's were the pinnacle, but then I got an SG...and fell in love. Just great guitars.
What I really came here to say though was Thank you Colin for taking the time and trouble to gift us these videos. It is so great hearing your stories, seeing your guitars, listening to your playing and appreciating your thoughts and opinions on all things guitar. I love your laid back conversational delivery. It's like hanging out with an old friend and fellow guitar nut.
Cheers Paul, thanks for the kind words it's appreciated and thanks for watching!! 😁🙏
Would you recommend a good Epiphone SG at the £500 mark? As long as the neck is not too fat the rest all good with me. Cheers.
i remember once apon a time I didn't like SGs. no idea what I was thinking. theyre an engineering masterpeice
Sweet Leaf !! 🤘
Great ..love the passion and acceptance of each guitars character without all the mods ..
Lovely to watch .. beautiful playing ..enjoyed watching ..
Hi Colin! I absolutely love your SG collection! You've got some wonderful pieces. I share your preference for an SG over a Les Paul. I like LPs just fine, but when you find a really good SG it's just magic. These last two videos you posted have a special relevance for me because I just had a headstock on an SG that I love very much repaired. I've written about it several times here in the comments already and I've had it back for a few weeks now. However, it's only recently that I've had the chance to give it the really good setup. The kind where everything is exactly perfect the way I like it. Action, pu height, intonation, truss rod, etc. Now that it's exactly to my liking, playing this SG is just a transcendent experience.
I remember writing in the comments here about this guitar when I broke it. You gave me an encouraging message about how the guitar will come back stronger than before. Well, it absolutely did! It even plays better than before. I had a guy do some work on the nut many years back and I think that he went a little too far filing the nut on the high side. Not bad, but the guitar's tone would thin out a little on the high E side. Again, not bad but noticeable when compared to other guitars. SGs often do this a little and I thought that it was just something inherent to the design of the guitar. With this repair I had a new nut put on and it has eliminated this problem entirely. The entire fretboard is now one big sweet spot. This was and still is the crown jewel in my guitar collection and to have it back even better than before makes me want to jump up and down with happiness. What a f***ing guitar! Also, the headstock repair was done so well that only a trained eye who knows exactly what they're looking for could guess that there has been work done in that area. I would still disclose the fact that it is repaired if I should ever sell it of course. However, I have no plans to part with this thing. It's special.
Is it possible for a guitar review to be emotional? I suppose so. Because of timing and circumstance, this one was for me. I've had this guitar for 2 decades now and I thought I'd ruined it. Instead, it plays and sounds better than ever.
I'm sorry if that was too long. I just wanted to share that with a fellow SG lover.
Cheers Colin! ✌
Cheers Rafael, really good to hear you got your own 'holy grail' SG back in action mate 😁👍 thanks for comment and support as always!!
Gotta love that single P90 sound. Another cool episode - thanks
Loved the two SG collection episodes, amazing collection of SG's, always fancied one but never had one alas but there is always time !! 🎸😄
I always enjoy listening to someone who is passionate about their subject. And this is a bonus for your audience since we all have similar passions. This reminded me of a Gibson EB-0 bass I had many, many moons ago. Found memories, there, I must say. I hope you had as much fun making the video as we had watching.
Nothing like an SG with P-90's. I fell in love with them after trying out one after hearing Pete Townsend with one back in the 70's. Another great and fun video Colin - thank you! Cheers!
Nice collection! I have the standard in vintage cherry with p90's for SG's, it's my cup of tea. Thanks for the video!
I got my first Gibson in 1979, too: a red 1978 SG Standard, that I still own and love
The SaGa continues! Love the earlier P90 ones but gotta say the pink one sounds pretty natty, too! Great series, thanks for the Fri nite fun, Colin!
My guitar quest is over, I no longer have the need to buy every guitar I want. I now understand that if I do not wish to be in a band or go pro I have no need for any more :) Its a good feeling actually. No longer being part of the consumer side of the cycle is a freeing experience! Saying that you must understand I already have 8 SGs lol, they are also MY THING lol
😆👍
So many great informations, lovely tones and enjoyable accent. Best show this evening on TV. Thank you. Those SG are awesome!
😁👍👍
Another Beautiful showcase of your SG's Colin. Always a pleasure. I will buy my first ever Epiphone SG or Vintage Make SG in the future as I heard they do a good job as well.
Excellent intro! I like the previewing idea.
Awesome show 😎✌️ as always Colin. Thank you for your wisdom and Eastman tip 🎸💥
Another great episode! Thanks Colin. 👍
Love your videos chief! All the best from Canada 🇨🇦!
Careful Colin... your punk is showing.
Thanks for another great ride - you are a wealth of information and a heckuva lot of fun.
Great Film Today Mate!!!! Memory Walk Continues, getting Sweeter all the time!!!! Very Nice Playing!!! That Early 60's Les Paul Junior Sure Sounds Sweet!!! They all sound good!!! Excellent Collection, Can't wait till next week!!!! Excellent!!!! Thanks for taking this time to show all of us Your Beautiful Collection!!!! Cheers Mate!!!!
Just picked up an original 1963 sg jr. I have been after one for years. Super delicious. I love it.
Nice one!!
@@theguitaristas Yup I love it. Love your channel too.
I have the Epiphone Custom Shop SG with gold fittings and black. Matches the bathroom fixtures. But I love it. Loud and plays so easily.
😂👌
Wonderfull collection Colin, it really matches your playing wich is great! What a treat to watch these videos every week. Keep up the good work!
Many thanks!
It’s great to hear you championing the Epiphones. The are some wonderful Epi’s out there that are very affordable. I have an Epi 335 Dot Pro that was excellent straight out of the box and about one seventh the price of the Gibson version.
Another great video. Passion about guitars always shines through. It makes my day.
Thanks again.
Thanks for watching! 😎🙏
Fun collection and sounding very inspiring 😎👍
😎👍❤🖖
Love Brother
Colin, really enjoyed the jam today and seeing you beam over your wonderful SGs. I'd forgotten about the blue Epi, that's nice! More my price really, but they're all nice. Thanks, cheers from Dallas!
Thank you for your videos Colin and I wish you more SGs in the future :-) You certainly look and sound great with them!!!
😁👍
Loved part 2 of your SG collection Colin! SGs are my favorite Gibson guitars along with Firebirds. Have a few nice SGs myself. My favorite one here is your Cherry Standard with P-90s, beautiful guitar! #2 is the Pink Standard with the small block inlays, have to admit pink never enters my mind as a color for an SG but after seeing yours I have to admit it is pretty freeking cool. Can't wait to see what your newest SG is that you purchased!
Great vid! 👍
My uncle played a 1961 Gibson SG Standard with the Maestro Vibrola tremolo with my dad’s band in the 60’s. It is a cool guitar.
love it mt superb vid, keep it going m.
no probs mt keep on rockin.
Great videos Colin. Lovely to see you on top form again.
Thanks 👍
Lovely stuff!
Great video! Thank you.
One P90, a wraparound bridge, Gotoh butter bean tuners, single cut, that´s would be my Holy Grail. Thanx for the awsome videos, Colin !
I rather enjoyed that , I did. Thanks for sharing. My first guitar in 1970 was a Gibson
SG Standard . So I relate mate. Currently gassing for a Jr.
I have the cheapest Epiphone version, and even though it's not the real thing, I love it.
If it plays good and sounds decent thats all you need. Its nice to have the £3500 ones but all in s good time by saving.
@@QuantumGamingUploads I disagree, 3.5 K guitars are no better that sub 1K ones , either can be amazing or total dogs, but high end stuff is mainly for rich people to waste money on and show off with
@@frankcarter6427 you forget those sub £1k may turn out to be terrible as well so it really depends on the guitar itself when you pick it up and you feel and pleased from the sound that's for you. No £1k guitar can be perfect or worth it either so its an individual one depending on the guitar. I had one recent purchase a Vintage make V52 Relic guitar. That was £499. That guitar was not even worth £80 in my opinion while a Sire T3 that was £360 was 100× better than that. Everything was right about it. You buy £3500 as you saved for a special one to pad yourself in the back call it eye pleaser or just because you have to have it. Its more than just the price sometimes behind a guitar. I always wanted a Custom Tele based on the James Burton Pink Paisley. I can find a Japanese one of those for £1500 but it wouldn't be the same. Great and probably amazing ( even be better overall ) but on the back of your mind you just know that isn't the same. This guitar hobby is funny in many ways so no point in disagreeing there. £3.5k guitar ain't for rich people either. Rich people buy £20k guitars. £3.5K guitar is when you save up for a year or two for it.
Epiphone have stepped up their game lately. Some qc issues but nothing huge. Easily taken caree of. I have the Matt Heafy 7 string origins and it's as perfect as it could be. Had to polish the frets but that was about it.
There's nothing wrong with the epiphone, that extra £1,000 you pay for a Gibson doesn't always guarantee you're getting a better guitar...
I think the sg is a fantastic instrument, I much prefer them to a Les Paul. Les Pauls are absolutely stunning guitars but for me picking one up is like holding a piece of antique furniture, if I owned one at a 2000e price tag I’d be too afraid to play it anywhere. An sg is a real workhorse and very versatile. I have a harley benton one with a split coil function and 24 frets. Literally all I’d ever need. I’m mainly a tele guy but that sg is my main home and backup guitar, a keeper for sure.
Nice one Colin, great to see the Epiphone in there too, great bang for your buck....
I have a bunch too. Bought my first in about '93, a new TV Yellow Special. Played a ton of shows with it. It cracked at the input jack in '00. The latest from a few months ago is a '16 P90 Standard. Love it.
Really enjoyed your sg collection videos mate. I've never had one but you may have turned my head! 🤣
Fancy one with p90's.
I'm totally digging that Pinky Tuscadero SG Colin. Hell, I love em all but that pink SG looks great and sounds wonderful. I can't wait for you to acquire the Olive Green and Yellow versions! Your Grail Guitar just oozes character and tone.
Thanks for sharing your collection and giving us a jam with them. Coolest Guitarista around. 😎
😁👍
Great stuff 👍
This is a fantastic video have a good weekend also I like the Gibson sg in my opinion
Talking of PMT, I was down in Southend last week visiting family and was sad to see it’s closed down. I usually pop in for a browse when I’m down. I remember the original shop on the London Rd, back when they were rivals to Honky Tonk.
We need water, cool water...another excellent presentation.
When I want to chill, have a beer, and be educated about guitars - I come here!
Cheers mate! 😁🙏
❤ that rough and distorted sound of your playing
Great collection Colin, I don't see how you could sell many of those unless you fell on very hard times. God forbid. It amazes me how good the Epiphone sounds for so little money. I always look forward to Friday morning for another episode. Thanks again!
OMG i love this series...I'm a guitar addict too my friend 💪😊❤
Did i detect a Stooges song at the start ? Brilliant love your collection and your enthusiasm great watch
A man who truly loves guitars! A man after my own heart
Loving the show, you have inspired me to buy the Epiphone SG, £379 from Peach Guitars. Looking forward ti its arrival. Many thanks
Great video as usual Col, loved the Ode to Sabbath - started singing out loud!!! Haha. Dean.
😆👍
Thanx for sharing your SG collection. I have a dozen of them. I share your enthusiasm. My favorites are my 2 Juniors and my 2011 50th Anniversary Pete Townshend Special.
Nice one Jeff! 😁👍👍
Good Afternoon Bud, Ive Been Looking Forward To Your Next Installment As Always. All Righty Then Hot Cross Buns And Latte Ready, Let's Go 😁😁
I, like Colin am drawn to the P-90 sound and it’s varied tone on different guitars. SG’s, LP Specials, hell I have a Eastwood resonator guitar with a P-90 in the neck and piezo at the saddle. What a great collection of SG history along with their background story that makes them more relatable! Until next week, Cheers mate!
thank you sir. great content and insight, from a fellow guitar addict. greetings from Livermore CA
Still love my Pelham blue Epiphone. Thanks for the GAS 😊
I do like that pink one.
Very Cool, Thankyou. Such an awesome Collection. I have Recently picked up an Epiphone black SG 'Standard' (I think) on the used market for bargain price $100- Australian with case. (That is almost Free in UK and USA money, lol) OMG, I instantly fell in love with this guitar and it has fast become one of my favorite guitars. Was never really a fan of SG's ...... Until I played a good one. WOW. Now I get it. Cheers
Colin….I’ve really enjoyed your collection. Thanks so much for sharing, brother 🤘. I’m still looking for the perfect Gibson SG Special.
The sg is just so iconic of rock the looks the sound...that's why I just bought a vintage v100 les paul 😅
Bravo!! 👏👏👏
Cheers from the USA! Just subscribed to The Guitaristas today. Love the videos! I have a 2013 Gibson SG "50's Tribute" black with P90's soapbars and that thing is a monster! I can play everything from Pink Floyd to Motorhead and it sounds amazing! Hard to beat "Sweet Leaf" played on a SG.
Cheers Jerm, thanks for the sub and support! 😎👍
As an American, I got very confused when you said “stinks of f*gs.” It wasn’t until you said it obviously belonged to a heavy smoker that I was like “Oh yeah, that’s just what they call cigarettes over there”
Wegen der SGs habe ich diesen Kanal erst entdeckt. Und nun, wenig später, habe ich meine erste Gitarre. Eine Epi SG LP Standard61. Sie ist Perfekt! Der Kanal auch. 🤠
Thanks 😎
Danke fürs Helfen! 😎👍
Hey Colin! It took me a while to get to it, as I'm quite busy lately, but this part definitely is my favourite! I do love SGs, too! The gradual increase in volume and mojo to your holy grail is just soo good 🤘 And the pink one definitely sounds great for HB preferring guys, I only wish I liked pink on guitars more 🥲 Cheers!
I have quite a few guitars, but I’ve never owned and SG. However one with P90s, that’s tempting. I think the reason I never bought a Gibson SG is that a guitarist in an early band I was in always had trouble keeping it in tune. (that was in the 70s). We didn’t have those problems at the times with Les Pauls and Fenders. There are always guitars that call to you. Out of a couple dozen I have collected in 5 decades, I rotate between 3 guitars. One, is a simple les Paul with p90s. Nothing special, it just calls me. Love it.
Love your channel too !
There has never been a bigger (and mostly) marketing ploy than the term: Gibson Custom Shop!
So I watched all episodes of this and I gotta say: thank you very much, Colin. I learned a lot from watching this and I am looking forward to future episodes. Best bit, of course, was the Ramones guy at the end of Harley Baggers :-)
Cheers Christian! 😎👍🧷😆
14:44 That Epi Special has a comparative mellowness to its P90s tone, almost like the magnets have weakened & "softened" somewhat with time (even though that's obviously not the case). Might have to think about getting one now 😉.
23:00 "Stooges Blues". Very cool.
I'd like to see an SG special with mini humbuckers. I've only seen one played by Marcus King and it sounded amazing but Marcus King could make anything sound amazing.
Thumbs up for your playing 👍
Even tho I have lots of SGs….I just love watching people talking about them….I can play one anytime but still watch your videos tirelessly….might just take my ‘99 61 ReIssue to the grave….the kids can have the others….just love seeing that backwall on every video….👍
Too funny.... I thought the junior sounded the best of all! Love your content :>
Cheers Colin!!
Lovely collection. Would love a guitar hunting episode, either in store or online.
Great guitars and great video! I have some Gibson LP's but somehow i don't want to break the bank for an SG, although i love them. I have the Epi SG Special and the Epi 1961 LP SG Standard. Then an Epi SG Custom that i modded pretty heavily with golden tulip tuners, Gibson 57 pickups, a roller bridge and a maestro vibrola, love it! And i have a Harley Benton SG doubleneck 6/12-string which i really recommend for you to check out, you wil love it! Keep up the good work Colin, is a pleasure to follow your guitar adventures..
Well because of you Sir, I've started a hunt for this pink SG, and obviously it's not available anywhere. Thank You for giving me another unicorn to chase. The best part is, I already have a perfect SG, and I really don't need another one...
You love SG's because you are a cultured, classy, gentleman, or impeccable taste.
and that '62 isn't just your grail, it's just an outright GRAIL. Should be fore everyone.
and FINALLY, someone who know's what a Tremotone is!!!!!!!!
Was so happy to see a second SG vid.
Amazing collection man, rock on!!!
🤣👍 Cheers Matt!
First one here today. I have my brew, some biscuits and gonna sit back and enjoy!!
I like that pink one. '60s body and ABR1 bridge but with mid-70s fretboard inlays.
All i can do is give you a nod in approval sir.
My first guitar was a 2002 Epiphone vintage g400, which i still have 20 years later. And i also like my Gibson SG std 61 though i wish the neck was a little bigger like on my SG tribute. All have been modded to some extent. Custombuckers with A5 magnets are in the std 61 now. slightly less aggressive as the Burstbucker 61 that came standard and a bit more clarity and articulation.
My tribute has got a Gibson P94T in the neck and a Lollar novel 90 in the bridge. Great combo! The neck is quite bright and articulate with the A5 magnet in the P94T and the bridge is clear and aggressive sounding with a bit of warmth, not glassy sounding. Probably because the Lollar has an A2 magnet.
Love them
That SG Junior just sounds incredible.
Colin your SG demos are awesome! Been great fun seeing your collection especially Old Stinky and the 62 Les Paul and maybe the pink one too. I love holding and playing the SG, it's the pinnacle of a practical guitar design, light and accessible. And my Special with modern Firebird pups' bright, biting tone is an OD delight. But my Les Paul Special's big ol' slab of mahogany with fat P90s' tone isn't going anywhere either. Dark and bright I need them both.
Cheers man, sounds great... I'm tempted to add some firebird pups to one of mine! 🔥
I like these films, your films. Keep filming.
Cheers Boss! 😁👍
Now I know that I need to get an SG. But first I must sell one of my other guitars. Great video as usual C!
😁👍
