I hope you're having a lovely week!
Ehh you too bro thanks for making Tuesday's one of the most important days of the week lol
You too bro! Love your content and appreciate you more than I can even say!!
I am. Same to you!
Actually home sick 🤢 normally watch these at work lol but I get a chance to spend a few hours making beats so glad you uploaded !
Wow..thank you brother I am having a lovely week even more now and may your entire season be lovely
The last level is God Tier... I've always been hesitant to use samples or chops of samples over existing samples/loops in a beat, for fear of them clashing. However, the way you did it makes a LOT of sense! Fantastic, Navie! I was starting to get in a slump of not feeling like cooking the last few days, and here you come trumpin' the slump! This has my juices flowing again, Thanks!
Also, this vid helped me realize (to some extent, anyway) what my main problem is, which is my taste in samples! lol, I tend to pick very melodic samples with nice, beefy loopage, whereas you went with an almost abstract track and pieced together a future hit. I am going to implement this into my digging and see what happens! Thanks, again.
Hahah I am happy to get your juices flowing ; )
Kendrick Lamar beats use that technique a lot too, if done well it sounds amazing
@@NavieD that makes 2 of us! :D
@@gonbeats 100!
Another great tip is find samples from different records and blending them together tuning the pitches so they match 👍🏾
God tier shit 😩
@@prodbytarantino bruh that's regular af
You can try adding fx's to your first pattern, bounce it and use it as a sample... re-sampling a sample, somehow lmao
I really needed this. Almost like he can read minds.
🧠 I see your brain
He hunt the 🧠 great 👍 find
I swear, I say the same thing most videos.. I still thank the guys who introduced me to Navie lol rs
Seriously I just started taking his course and he said sampling is easier to work with at first. I just constantly kept running into the problem of it not lining up right or working correctly, searching for a samples with simpler bpms. Now sampling can be done so much easier
All the guys here on YT only show us what they did on FL but Navie really teaches us. I‘m very glad that i joined your advanced beatmaker course. Keep going like that Navie bro…
I've been making beats on and off for around 10 years and I think you are the only person I watch where I come away feeling like I've learnt something new that I can take away with me.
👀👀👀👀👀 Seems like you’re using the wrong DAW. Studio One 5 #1
Here’s how to make an interesting sample flip:
Use different parts of the sample at your choosing, wether it’s every bar, half bar, or quarter note.
Do this a few times, maybe occasionally repeating the first quarter note of a bar of the sample, and replacing the second note with it, then continuing how the sample originally was. It gives it that cool MPC-feel. To get especially ineteresting, you can stack different parts of the sample on top of each other. If it clashes, lower the volume or you can eq it till it sounds good. There’s a lot you can do. Like eq or throw an interesting VST on part of the sample but keep the rest normal. It’s all just about what makes the sample cool
different parts of the samples
This comment is brilliant! Might be the best one ive ever seen
I need to remember it :)
@@amirito2931 screenshot it that's what I do
Needed to see this one! Thank you. 👏
Super useful as always, Navie! I've randomly discovered the newtime warping option just like a few days ago and my sampling game improved so much. Crazy to think just how many options and functions each DAW holds
Thanks for the video. Always good to revisit things like because I always pick up some new stuff and you always remind me of thing i used to do before.
Nicely laid out, helpful, and super dope tutorial. Subbed for sure! Thank you!
Thanks bro this was really helpful and a major Gem 🙏🏾
this channel is a legendary channel.
i subbed at 6-7k because of the quality of information and it is still on POINT.
Love brother 💓
The beat you opened this with is freaking great.
Cant believe how lucky i am i found you. Small but so much informative videos. Im learning so much faster newer techniques and getting a better overall perspective thanks to you. Keep up
I am happy you found me too my friend
Needed this video years ago starting out but you're putting people on wit info, props 🤝🏽
Love the tips, using them as I type this. Back to work
Amazing video. Your channel is a goldmine
Great video, learned some things and all three levels were sick in their own ways imo. One tool I occasionally like to use to manipulate samples within the FL playlist is the slip tool (s hot key).
Good stuff, the last phase had me hearing Wu-Tang’s “Ice Cream” in my head. Before it trapped out. ✌🏾👍🏾
I haven’t made beats in years and I’ve been researching how modern music is today and I have to say…you gave me some inspiration. I want to say thank you for that. I’ve always sampled but I mainly use loops but it’s great to learn new ways to sample and I learned a lot from this video
serato & the nnxt in Reason is my main form of sampling. This video was very helpful / insightful.
Been cookin up with Slicex for over a decade and today just realized only the S, E, and X are highlighted orange in the Slicex logo on the top right corner.
ollolo FL is about to get sued for these perverted images
@@NavieD hahaha xD
Oh shit I just noticed that...
oh my goodness this is LITERALLY what I've been looking for thank you so much what a great video!
You are welcome Auguste!
@beatbatter kits! Love ‘em!
I have mastered the Bating. Now I can master the Sampling. Thanks Navie.
I see what you did there
Thanks for this 3 techniques. God bless you 🙂🙏🏼❤️
Thank you for watching Kerwin!
Its so satisfying to see you making this tips for everybody man, i got this by tryal and error, and you made a class qith it, niiice

Well said... Gratitude 🤝🏾...
Really needed this video thanks dude
You're welcome!
Really appreciate these videos man
I appreciate you watching them!
I love those drums at the beginner loop part! Almost snapped my neck lol
seriously you are the most crucial resource for anyone starting out to use FL 20 as their primary daw, thanks so much navie you are the real GOAT
You are welcome my magical friend
im deadass chillin in my studio with fl open i was stumped on how to use this sample then u drop this. thank youuu!!!
Hahah I have read your brain Gavin
Thanks for giving this game out to the people for free man. I use Ableton and a lot of your tutorials really have helped me apply myself further in production.
Awesome! I am glad these tips still apply no matter what DAW you use
@@NavieD thanks again! I actually had a follow up question: do you think you can flip just about any sample with the right manipulation skills? Or is it really important to focus on using those skills on samples that can be manipulated? I hope that makes sense!
I swear I was just thinking about how I could really utilize sampling, thanks a lot bro
😤def the best channel
Awesome video! Love all your videos thank you very much for making them. Can you make a video on EQing bass for 90s style hip hop? Mine always sounds so thick and muddy, and like its squeezing my ears when I listen. Not sure how to EQ or compress it properly to fit in. It either sounds way too loud or way too quiet.
Nice video bro !
this is FIRE ADVICE thank you for thisssss ^O^
Subscribed for the science of sampling (and the unexpected FL tips) :-)
I like this video because it starts with a loop tutorial and ends with a lesson on Stravinsky's & Boulez composition technics
Great video! Learned a lot from this
Thank you Netta!
Yo! timing here is insane, just last night I wanted to really get into sampling and now I got a good idea of how to do it!
It was meant to be Parker
Keep the videos coming bro!😀
Just dropped another one today!
dang bro good shit, i mess around with this stuff as a hobby and i'm stoked for the next time i have free time lol subbed fasho
YOUR VERY RARE NAVIE THANKYOU BRO
Nice video.. really dig your sample break down videos.. i've used all 3 in one beat at times..
I plan on putting another one out in a few weeks, so stay tuned!
@@NavieD oh absolutely... Love your videos bro ..
That was awesome
Thank you Julio!
I personally love sampling, its fun, makes you creative and unique in too many different ways , great video as always 🔥
Thank you Eazy!
Ohhh my I never knew about new time, I was going insane trying to line the sample up
Hey man ! Love the channel ! Do you have videos where you break down how you use Serato Sample
🔥🔥🔥 super clean beat too
Thank you!
P.E.A.C.E. learning alot thanks
Glad to help!
Very nice 👍
Was expecting a trap beat on the beginner version, but then shit hit hard af on some Dan the Automator flavor.
Thank you.
I really appreciate these sampling videos man. can u please make a video using serato sampler thanks.
Wasn't sure about the first beat, but man you turned it into something so cool. The power of sampling is crazy!
Hahah yeah, I just have my own "ear" for samples, and sounds I gravitate towards
fire
Dope Video!
Thank you JD!
1:58 Excited to hear what you do with this sample because IMO it just does not have the sauce.
3:30 OK, maybe we're making some headway.
5:45 Master of the GRIME
Hahah you can find the sauce in the most unsaucy locations
@@NavieD It turns out... that the sauce comes from within. 🥲
Yooo thanks Navie
thanks!!!
Thank you Ulises!
great video Master!
Thank you dude!
I just see this video and think: how the heck did daft punk came with A WHOLE ALBUM of songs that basically are samples almost 20 years ago, without all the technology and it became one of the greatest albums.
This is an art, very well done explaining this hard process and teaching it!
True enough. Sampling way back then was so much more difficult. Kudos to all of those dudes
This has to be thee stupidest comment I have EVER read lol
MPC.
This is gonna be a huge help. I'm horrible at sampling lol
So helpful
Happy to help Stephen!
Thank you, much appreciated
Thank you my friend! How is life going?
@@NavieD I'm very optimistic everything seems to be getting better. Thank you for asking.
Pretty well mate
Mans is an actually legend
Had to subscribe for this video
Happy to have you on board!
wow bro you killing me.lol i never knew that newtime did that. its still parts of FL i dont know about. im gonna have to checkout your slicex and that newtime video. great share
Ohh yeah, it can be a huge gamechanger!
@@NavieD i bet it has
Not for nothing Navie, but you are on point with your clear and precise instructions. And your beats are pretty dope my brother. I'm impressed.
Thank you boss! Happy to help
Bro all your beats are 🔥🔥🔥🔥
Damn, thanks dude!
Naive D bruh ! This video is golden, I'm a dude who "plays" music and Ive always wanted to sample; at least small portions within my own production but I strayed away because I wouldn't want get sued, I remember back in the days they had a program called Cool edit pro and FL 3 I would dabble in it but I never put more than 15-30 min into it (per yr lol)but now I got Serato sample I really want to go in. I use FL20/MASCHINE /mpc live 1/Ableton/reason and I've never sampled but I'm bout to give it a shot. U really broke stuff down in this vid👍
Man this video made me realized how insane “Since I Left you” by Avalanches is, especially considering the fact it was 23 years ago and made entirely using samples!
Great Tips…
Let's get this guy to 100k.
Graciasssssssss
Just discovered your channel and really enjoying your videos!
Are the samples on Vinyl Frontier's channel royalty free (or how does it work in terms of copyright)?
beat used was actually pretty good. Usually with these kinds of videos they are not.....
subbd
🔥🔥
🚒🚒
Very impressive
Thank you Redd!
Nice 💯
Thank you thank you
Old folks tales and rumours tell of another level, level so magical its been seen rarely. Somewhere out there is a sampling level of DJ Shadow.
Thanks for the great info!!! How about an indepth tutorial on Serato Sample??
Hmm it's possible, it's possible
i'm happy to see i'm a Master sampler :)
I'd love to see you branch this into a conversation about creating active compositions
I am thinking of doing a more "watch me make beats" type of video soon
Does anyone else REALLY miss the OG vinyl frontier channel (before adding plus to the name) cuz that shit was way more gully on avg than the present channel js
This man is too dope
Thank you young Gawd
W human, W video, W teacher, W everything. Mans a walking W
Any videos on hooking up your Komplete Kontrol keyboard for chops??
I'm sure you know bout more levels. For instance sampling multiple samples to create one dope sample. Maybe 4 a future vid, liked the content. Keep at it bro💯💪🏾
Maan I love doing this
beat so dope @5:33
Huh, I seem to have been doing these things already by instinct, thus just brings clarity to what I have been doing quite helpful
Hahah you're ahead of your time
@@NavieD granted, I have done this with prerecorded samples or through mixing down midi tracks if virtual instruments in my DAW rather than by recording fresh samples and manipulating them. I probably should get myself to start sampling sounds around me
💎💎💎🧠...be@t is grimey 🤘🏾🤘🏾...thx for the knxwledge🎭
If you right click & drag on the numbered bar, right above where it says sample 1 on his sample. you can make it loop like that while trying to find a chop. Might help.
sheeesh good vro
damn thats dope i heard conway nd benny all on that
Glad you liked the beat man!
