Thanks for the help! I have a 2001 extended cab and your video helped me install my sub this last weekend. Appreciate you taking the time to show how!!
@@ZPTVChannel that’s something I honestly wish all amps came with. How do you like the sub box? I’ve been wanting to put my 10” sub in my 92 Chevy C1500 extended cab for awhile now, but I’m still trying to justify spending $180 on just a box for my truck.
@@frankswiader3334 I have those now! And yes that’s what your supposed to hook into but the red wire is a switched 12v as well same as the remote wire so mine still turns on and off with the radio!
He’s a young man he ll learn the specific stuff eventually give him some credit. Also bud the easiest correct way is to put a small x cut in boot and feed wire thru that. Hope u read this it should help in future for obvious reasons
If your meaning with the truck off, no it doesn’t. If your meaning driving down the road, If i have my music loud and the bass hits real hard it used to dim the lights a little but my alternator was on its way out. After I replaced the alternator, even with the music blaring it doesn’t.
I bet it still sounds good. I also have a single sub setup in my little extended cab Nissan pickup. I am running a single skar zvx 12 on a taramps smart 3K🔊😁
@@bassanonymous4923 I was very surprised at how good it sounds! Especially with such a cheap set up! I bet yours does sound good! I’ve heard good things about skar!
I quit watching because everything I’ve seen was wrong. First if your going to go through the firewall through the boot then go through the actual boot. Going through the side as he did can make the metal scrape the insulation off of the wire and create huge problems. Second use the blue remote wire. Even if your at a drive thru just turn off your radio, by extension that will cut off your amps as well.
I wouldn’t say “wrong” considering I’ve had this exact set up on multiple cars for years and this one in particular for going on 2 years with no issues. My reasoning for not going through the boot is if I ever take it out I don’t have a hole in the boot. Plus it’s fused directly after the battery so if it does ever have an issue the only issue will be it blows that fuse! The red wire was simply showing you don’t technically need the blue remote wire, as I’ve came across kits that don’t have it, so I was showing there’s more than one way to get switched power to the amp! Sure there’s more professional ways to go about it but I still wouldn’t say the way I did it was “wrong”
The harness had a separate wire specifically for the amp so I’ll either use that or the red ignition wire. The switch idea isn’t a bad one by any means but I would forget to turn it off and it would kill the battery lol 😂
Not everyone has the know how to build a box or the money to buy a built center console box. Plus I have the 07-13 middle console and I like the under seat storage so a console box was out of the question for me.. this way, at least in my opinion, is a cost effective and efficient way to get the sound you want.
@@ZPTVChannel good glad to hear! I seen a previous install that didn’t have pass through holes water sealed and when I pulled back his rubber floor liner it had standing water. I’d shoot some silicone in the holes just to be safe. I’ll follow your ride and see what kind of advise I might be able to slip in for you as I do it professionally so like to help out my fellow installers and see what others are doing out there. Where abouts are you or what state you out of?
@@ZPTVChannel I’m up in Ohio and been to Tennessee a bunch. Just started watching your alternator vid lol I gotta see this after I heard 7 alternators that’s insane. Gotta hear if you figured out why.
@@mugs2169 I haven’t figured that out yet.. the one I swapped in is still doing great so maybe it was just faulty parts. I think I probably blew a couple jumping off other peoples cars i was reading up on it and it said these charging systems are insanely sensitive so it’s best to avoid jump starting with them.
I know it’s 3 years late but still helped hooking up new sub. Thanks
Happy to help!!

Your welcome! Glad I was able to help! And thank you for watching!!!
Great work buddy! Wish u were near NC to set up my car audio. Keep the videos coming. 🐐
What’s the red fuse wire called from the battery to the cab?
It’s just an amp power wire. I don’t remember exactly what gauge it is but I want to say like maybe 5 gauge.
Most head units have an amp wire(remote wire) and also have the ability to remotely turn the sub off through the head unit itself.
Mine has the wire, But no option to remotely turn the sub off. I’m about to install a bass knob!

@@brandonrayner5253 I think they should as well lol. And I’m liking it a lot I was worried about the bass output not being very good but it hits hard!
If I’m not mistaken the remote wire will turn the amp on and off when you turn the key
They also make side mount bolt extenders for your positive and negative battery terminals for the truck 👍

There’s a link to it in the description!
Does the way you set this up drain your battery at all?

Anytime! And thank you!
Damn all that and no demo.. I was expecting a little sound demo at the end
I know.... I wanted to but I use my phone to film and I didn’t want to deal with all the static from the fm stations....

Talks about live wires dangling but cuts into a wire and just wraps it. There’s t connectors that would work even better
Can u should us how to take the boot off and put the power wire in there
All I did was push one side down and push the power wire through. I might make a short of it!
lol i thought that was a thumbnail of blake shelton

Do I have to have a Special sub I have a 12 inch gothic sub with it still fit in that box cause if so ill get one
You shouldn’t as long as the sub isn’t super deep it should be fine. Mines a regular 12” dual sub.
where you find a custom box like that?
Amazon! The link to it is in the description!!
Where did you get the vinyl floor?
Junkyard! Pulled it out of the same year truck! I’m assuming it was a work truck model!
Most Silverado has those in the cab
Should have just put the switch on the jumper from remote to 12v to not mess with harness

Is this a joke? Build a center console ported box with a ported JL Audio 10w6v2 or video box with a 500/1 or 600/3 and be done with it.
