Nice. Rather than modify the G20 for heating, easier solution I reckon is to disconnect the pump and use a small power wall plug power supply to drive it. Then plug that into RAPT temp controller.

It's actually not much of a mod to the G20 the tabs are there ready, it's just some wire from the tabs on the temp controller to a socket for the element plug. Cheers!

Nice solution! How did you adapt the threaded element to being a tri clamp?

Hey mate, slightly off topic, have you had any issues with sealing of the v clamp? I have the 95 litre so the extra diameter probably accentuates the issue, but i find it very hard to get the seal to stick in the rim while I flip it. the last two batches of beer have had in complete seals. The first was a lager that sucked in a heap of o2 during cold crash, the latest has sealed to 10psi, but above that it leaks out of the seal... so I captured co2 from ferment in a spunded keg, and kept it attached during codcrash to keep pressure between 0 and 10 psi and that has worked so far. Just wondering if anyone else has this issue and any work arounds?

No i havent, umm even with it falling out it should still seal once its in place. I hear a ton of people had issues like that with the nanox, nanox i used to have to have the lid sealing clamp in the exact same spot each brew for it to seal. As far as it falling out, do you fit it dry? Another tip that doesnt really solve your issue but its how I do it on all of these types of fermenters is make sure everything is sealed when its got sanitiser in it, pressure it up etc, and then I only open the triclamp port on top to fill it, so i know thatll seal fine.

@@HomeBrewNetwork yeah, I was fitting it dry initially, though on the last batch I put some vaseline into the seal tract to provide a bit of adhesion. the issue is that it seals at low pressure and holds pressure to a certain psi. Generally I am putting about 80L of wort in, so that's still about 15L of headspace I'd need to pressurise with CO2 each ferment to check the seal. I guess I could do a seal check to 5psi once the wort is in, and also continue with the CO2 capture during ferment as a insurance. cheers.

also, the new x3 seems to have circumvented the issue by swapping the v clamp out for an 8 inch triclover, but not likely I'll be able to fit an additional 95L fermenter into the household budget so soon after the recent purchase...
