I just upgraded my City Slicker with the KLS Kelly Controller!!!
Did some wiring re-mapping but the final result it's just incredible.
I needed it go to >55MPH and this off the shelf controller did it.
What was the Extra cost for this improvement?
@@JQUICK21
The controller was $267 total. You can select if you want it waterproof for additional $19 which I did. Got a few Deutsch connectors from Digikey and that was it. So total was close to $300.
Fernando Rubio - Thank You much
@@JQUICK21
You're welcome.
I'll update the wiring schematic I did and will upload it everyone to see.
I’m looking very seriously at this bike. Hope to see a long term review in the future, including your thoughts on regular maintenance.
Don't buy it i did that mistake and let me tell you why I've had e bikes since 2010 the first problem is it's a ball crasher the seat is uncomfortable and the distance is terrible comparing to what's out there im in Toronto Canada and I get around 40 45 klm 25 30 miles tops range and that's keeping in the speed range of 25 30 miles hour and the bike tops out at 70 klm around 40 miles hour i had the e bike that looks like a Kawasaki Honda sport bike and that beast would do 70 miles hour and 70 miles distance and for only 300 hundred more IMO I've got the bike for sale on kijiji for 2000 Canadian i paid 2400 for it a month ago i sold the sport bike for 4500 hundred bcs there was none left for sale in Toronto and made 1800 hundred on the deal so i took the cash but regret buy this bike
The best bike for your dallers is the Mayhem or Monster comfortable and room to carry what you want and around 2800 in Canada brand new i hope that this helps you to make your decision and unless you're a lithium guru stay away from lithium batteries i prefer acid batteries and the trick to them is just changing it every time you rid no matter how far or little you went peace out 🇨🇦
I love that it's 2500. Cheaper than lots of ebikes...
Go all of 20 miles on a charge LOL
@@tomhertz1614 30.
Even cheaper than some ebicycles
You might as well get gas powder dirt bike at that price
It never fails.. post an article about an electric bike and tons of posters comment just to trash the idea and promote gassers. Why do you guys even click on the e-bikes? Do electric riders go to articles on gassers and trash talk them? (not that I have seen)
as somebody in California, specifically the Santa Monica area, we are definitely not getting 46 miles per hour. The top that I can get on a flat surface is 42 miles per hour at 90% charge and more. Today my battery is at 32° Celsius, the weather outside is about 70 degrees Fahrenheit and I have about 85 miles on my odometer. I'd also say probably depends how many charge cycles you've done. I'm on my 3rd or 4th and they say expect to see improvements in performance after the 5th battery power cycle.
Interesting, thanks for the input. Please let us know what you experience as you continue to put miles on!
marmalade123 hey man how’s the Yoruba I’m planing on purchasing and heard concerns of weak torque how is the off the line torque does it feel fast?
Saw a video yesterday of a neoprene battery cover for bike batteries which reduced or stopped the cold affecting battery run times. Brilliant idea. Not sure if can use such a cover on this type of bike.
Thank you! Remember to include how to remove the battery! :D
You can look for this in CSC's own battery removal video on UA-cam
I like electric bikes and I'm glad people are buying them and more companies are making them. But, for me it's more about how useful and economical they are. I have ridden several zeros and for me the price is still a bit high. Maybe I'll buy a used one.
If you're buying a used electric bike, expect to spend an additional $600-$1200 for new batteries (depending if you're using lead-acid or lithium based). Yes, it only costs pennies to charge the bike, but you're generally only going to get a few hundred full charges on the bike before the batteries need to be replaced. Expect the batteries to be on their last legs if you're buying one used.
@@jimmy_kirk Zero Motorcycle packs last for thousands and thousands of cycles. No one with the current generation (2013+) has had to replace a pack because it has worn out. Previous chemistries have, but since the change from cylindrical to the Farasis pouch, nope.
just but a 125cc bike thats wrecked or has no engine , gut it all out and put in a 4kw + rated bafang motor to pull the chain
My opinion: Any "city bike" (whether it's a bicycle, an e-bike, a pedelec, a scooter, a motorcycle or whatever) needs decent storage options. Most of the time people don't ride around the city just for fun but to get things done. This usually involves carrying all kinds of stuff - from work clothes to sports gear, from musical instruments to groceries.
It would probably be pretty easy to modify it to take large (bicycle) pannier bags on the back of the motorbike
reinplat i have a z125 and when i putter around town i use a decent sized messenger bag designed for bicycle couriers. i mostly carry groceries in it
I agree with you 100%... I want something that is practical first where I can stop at the store and get a couple bags of groceries, throw them in the trunk, and get home at a low price...
I used to ride motorbikes but family and work have stopped that over the last few years. I have been following the development of electric cars overs the years and your videos have just made me aware of the progress of electrics bikes. I must say its very exciting and i cant wait to try one!
Awesome, good luck and I hope you find a way back into it!
After seeing your videos I made my mind to buy electric motorcycle and say bye bye to my IC Engine motorcycle. You are doing great work and it is the contribution to spread awareness about use of electric scooter, bikes, motorcycles. I am looking forward to build my own battery pack using vruzend kit. Your videos motivates me to create some stuff.
What bike did you ride and what kind of riding did you do?
@@johnjacob688 KTM 390
If more storage is more important to you than looking good, just add a trunk either over the passenger space or behind it.
No way!!! that kicks so much butt. Hell yeah!!!
These are all over China. Gas bikes are not allowed in the city I'm in. They are really cool! I also rented a Yamaha electric scooter in Taiwan and it was pretty quick! Perfect for the beach town we we're in and it was a lot of fun to ride around on.
Looks a lot like a Honda Grom. Wouldn't replace my Zero SR, but looks like a lot of fun, and might be a great option for a camp bike.
Also I love this price thats not bad giving this is brand new. And it already has lithium ion batteries with it
These are available with a lot of different names on them, but they are made by a Chinese company called MORACOT. My Moonster is 3kw and does a little over 50mph and around 50 miles to a charge.
Wow, there would be actually so many Lithium-Ion Cells in this bike and I could imagine that there would be definitely a way to modify it in order to connect an "booster pack" which would give you higher range.
Nice bike, i am building my own electric motorcycle. And i used the same swingarm with integrated motor as in this bike. Going to make a video about it!
They need to make these go at least 60 mph. Surely they could have done that without much more cost.
@lil satan - OK....well....for me.....longer battery life is not a big deal at all. I mean, who is going to take these on really long trips? And no matter where you take them you can always find a place to plug them in. So the number one desire would be plenty of power and speed, especially on roads that have 45 mph speed limit and above. If I lived in a city and was only going to use a bike or scooter in the city then I would just buy a $3000 scooter that gets over 100 mpg and has top speed of 40 and that would be all that you need.
So everybody calculating electricity but no one calculates the accumulation...the battery has a cycle life and lithium-ion deep cycle batteries are expensive, my advice is-have 2x bigger battery then you actually need and never discharge to total 0, having 2 batteries is a good idea because from 50% to 100% the voltage is more stable and if you have 2 chargers you can charge 2 batteries at the same time cutting you charging time in half and this way you keep batteries cycle life much bigger...
wonderful with the removable battery !! electric is the future if you test an electric vehicle you'll never come back to the dinosaurs' time... with 3 wheels and 140km/h with big space storage for 2 helmets umbrellas and rain ponchos... and ultra quick charge... that will be my next vehicle.
Going to make an e-bike to travel 30km to work, because of this channel so thanks for the info man, I appreciate it. I look forward to more videos 👍
*When you run out of battery, it's a long way to push it back home. Therefore **_'Range Anxiety'_** starts to kick in at around 20 miles, limiting it's practical use somewhat. My Brother has one very similar to this model, and I have ridden it and been most impressed. However do have to be aware **_no regenerative braking,_** and when close 'throttle' bike 'freewheels' - takes a bit of getting used to compared to a MotorCycle, more like a push bike which I am familiar with. When he asked me if he could plug it in for a return trip back home (12 miles) I of course agreed. He phoned me later to say he had made it, but other than going round in circles was unable to calculate the full range achievable. For anyone who wants transport, say to-from work each day, up to 12 miles, great. If socket to plug into at 'work' even better.*
I'm intrigued! In some regards it's similar to my 411cc Royal Enfield Himalayan. A very affordable and more economical bike with speed limitations that's still a blast to ride if you're in the correct mindset. I am 100% all for leaving ego at the door and being able to enjoy a lower horsepower motorcycle, be it a traditional combustion bike or electric. I would totally use this City Slicker to get groceries, lunch, meetings at the cafe, etc. I wish it had a different name. Are the City Slicker decals easy to remove? 🤔
Why the thumbs down?
Excellent review.
How was registering it with the DMV? Any problems with classification, etc?
Ask your local DMV. Should be the same as long as it's over 35 mph
Thanks for the review. I have a Honda ctx700. I really like the mpg. I live at the beach and your bike would be excellent for around town. I am also considering the Honda Ruckas.
CSC takes care of the registration. When the bike is delivered, sign the papers and mail them back and you're all set.
@Todd m that's quite an assumption. Why don't you mind you own business
That's a good question I live in Oklahoma and anything over a 50cc is tag able so since it doesn't have a cc rating I wonder if u would even need to tag it bc actually it's a bicycle with a electric motor
I drive less than five miles one way to work, and the grocery store is only about ten miles away so I think this thing would be great. The big issue I come to with most bikes is charging, I live on a 3rd floor and to charge I would have to run a extension cord and even then it would be in the walkway, so a removable battery is a necessity for me.
Battery is removable and weighs 35 pounds.
Never thought about buying an electric bike till this video
Micah - Our in-city roads generally go up to 45 MPH before the step up to highway speeds. Drivers normally go about 50 MPH on those same roads, and so sharing those roads is most safely done at 50. Can you discuss possible upgrades that could reasonably be done to increase max speed to 50 MPH (controller, battery, gearing, etc )?
Very cool bike, i just recently upgraded from ebike to scooter, i miss not having to refill gas, i wish that bike would do about 55 mph.
You mentioned the ability to remove the battery and charge it in your apartment. How easy is the battery removal/installation? It would be nice to see that in a future vid to get an idea of the size of the battery and what type of charger that you use. Thank you!
Battery is easy to remove. the first time you do it it's kind of clunky but then you get used to it and it's pretty easy. However it weighs 35 to 40 lb and is very dense. I use a shoulder strap and connect to the battery and still challenging if you're walking the good long distance from a garage spot back to your apartment. But to have this option is phenomenal. Also the charger comes with the bike so it is provide it for you. It goes into a normal 110 outlet
Wouldn't mind looking over the ebike and battery books - have spent the last year and a bit trying to put together a replacement bike for the one stolen from my back yard last year. It's difficult on a disability pension
A great short review - We are sure you have helped a lot of people with this video!
We have just sub'ed - Keep them coming please..
Looks like a good ride, I think I still like a bike conversion better.
this is more theft proof which is good
The bike looks really cool. Yes, I know that scooters are more convenient but a "real motorbike appeal" is so nice ;)
I have a similar bike it's a emmo knight but I've out as qsmotor 8000 watt and a Kelly kls 8080 controller. And added 120volt 50 am/h lithium lots of fun!! Great video watch all the time!!
In the coming year I hope to transition to an Electric Motorcycle, thanks for the heads up on this affordable option!!
So have found the reverse button? It does have reverse too which is pretty cool.
I’m very interested in getting an electric bike or scooter, but I also need it for my shopping. Essentially ditching my car. Would be interested in a video about options for someone relying only on an e-bike.
One of the reasons I LOVE it compared to the electric bikes I've been looking at is the seat. Never found a bike seat that doesn't hurt 🤷
Great looking .I need a ride like this
Can you do a video on ways to upgrade the battery, controller, and motor for the bike.(Please) regardless of the price for upgrades? Also can you test the battery pack to see if it is actually at 72v and 30ah? Can you also talk about connecting a second battery to double the range?
nice bike. looking to get an ebike myself soon.
I think you are opening a big discussion whether we can make our own battery when this one dies.. without being illegal.. and second question is what is the maximum slope angle it can climb?
The only thing that i dont really like about it is this tiny wheels...but for the rest, seems a pretty good deal. Looking forward to see your final conclusions about this bike
Saddle bags would give a bit more storage too.
.. and less mileage . . . unless filled w/shima-pantsu
that bike looks awesome its small but looks real i like it alot i wanna start by building an electric bike first merry christmas my friend
Add a mono trailer to carry your stuff. Also it could be for a additional battery. But it is way cool!!!
Still hoping for that follow up video. Especially, how the battery gets removed.
about brakes.
they are like a gas bikes? are need change the brake fluid normally? they are regen?
brazil salutations.
Great bike will be intrested in the full review. Your 1 degrees c and we had 34 degrees for Christmas day Orangapai Central Otago New Zealand.
That bike is pretty cool. I'm looking more into batteries, this is a cool alternative.
Can we/you get a look inside? this doesn’t look like a hub but a chain or belt drive... where is the battery stored? how do you take it out? does it take a car ev plug? what voltage does it run? can you find the controller? What amperage is it rated? Amp hours? Are you considering beefing up the voltage with your own custom li-ion battery? that is customize it with your own battery and new controller to get more speed? at 40mph isn’t that the speed you got with that last ebike conversion? does the motorcycle body style make it better/more stable than your 40mph bike experiment?

My Suzuki DL650 dual sport is about 490 pounds wet. It would be interesting to know if something similar could be made using Tesla type technology with a range of say 200 km or roughly 130 miles and capable of 90 kph.
Looks good. But I’d like something with more speed and more range. Looking forward to getting your battery book.
Panniers and a small rear box can give you lots of space, a large back box is a bad idea it throws off the handling way too much in my opinion.
Sitting on the back of a bike with a back box to lean against is a game changer, and panniers keep your login legs warmer and less dirty while on the back and in general
I feel we are going to hear about this thing disinigrating on the next video. I hope not because I like it but at that price something has to give. I have a Yamaha tw200 with 12" pit wheels and it is great for city and motors up hills and can take a few miles on freeway, topping out at about 73mph with tall gearing. If they could an electric to compete with that I would do it but I don't see anything yet. I also paid $2500 for it. Used with a thousand miles.
Looking forward to the in-depth review!
Seems like it would make more sense to have the rear brake foot controlled, for people transitioning from a gas motorcycle.
I hope you open the battery to see what cells are being used.
Thanks for taking the time to do an interim update.
46 mpg cap? Range? Disappointed at the price. I guess I haven’t adjusted to the ebike market, yet. 🤔
Great video! This segment of bikes/mobility options will surely explode in the coming years...
Removable battery is a nice option. Is it heavy? Maybe you can carry spare one with you to double the range.
It is had a longer range I'd be more interested in it. Until then I'd love to build my own electric bicycle.
That storage space could be used for spare batteries or maybe they could look into simply enlarging the battery pack to extend into that space.
@@TheWebstaff eh, not that I can afford any of the scooters on the market. Have to settle for building my own, bit by bit ad spare pension money allows (and weather - no shed to do the welding on this rental, so weather is a factor)
Sorry it sounds like you really like it that's nice I'm going to look in on one myself thanks
Just bought a xioami mi365..did a lot of preventative custum mods...Want to know how to increase battery size and add a custom bms controller. Other countries have done but I only know English. I am diffinitly going to check out your books..Thanks for the info you provide on your channel, very informative!
Maybe you can have spare battery. At same time as you're riding; your second battery being on your charger, for twice of fun ride.
Good info.
I just don't understand why companies are having 2 brake levers instead of 1 lever and 1 pedal.
Keep the motorcycles ergonomics so people don't have to learn how to ride twice.
Because scooters
I know where that is you passed north Cambridge / Belmont line in freshpond!!
Yep!
I maybe have a silly question,on a gas engine you get lots of heat and hot spots. With one of these does it disperse any heat? No exhaust, or engine,so no heat?
Thanks for making this "early" video. I look forward to your next one with you gaining more experience riding this bike. I am very curious about the build quality. It looks solid in the videos but some first-hand commentary will be very informative. Thank you again.
I'd probably describe it as "good, not great". I like this as a 45 mph bike, but I wouldn't want to go 70 mph on it!
Okay, thanks for the personal reply. I hope you can get some macro shots of the surface finish of components like the forks. I've seen several Chinese-made bikes, and up close the fit-and-finish can be poor. The smoothness of castings, even gaps of mounted fittings, etc. are huge "tells" to how the quality actually is. The raw materials used in some of these bikes, like the steel, can be potentially very low grade; the plastics and rubber used can leach toxins too.
Beautiful electric motorcycle.
This defenitely looks great and peppy, wish it had a range somewhere like 60-70 miles. Then it would have been a killer.
Hi Micah; Iam tryig to find the video you made using one single cell to go for a test ride, thanks Vince
You said you are in Boston. Planning to get this from long time..I will wait for your full review to get a better understanding on how it behaves in our Boston weather.
That's a really nice bime, thanks for that awesome video
Uploaded on Christmas day. YT never sleeps.
Merry Christmas
Would love to see update videos. Interested in a small e motorcycle just for a toy.
i would like to see the battery pack you charge up. how long does it take to charge the battery? how much does a extra battery cost ? does you moto go further in miles than a electric bicycle?
You can always get a bigger charger. If it is using cells like samsung 30q, you can get a charger up to 1,3c, that means you can charge any battery from 0 to 100% in under an hour. If it is using 20700 cells the max charge should be around 0,5c, that means with the biggest charger you would have your battery charged in around 2 hours+
I love electric everything we have depended on gas for way to long and it is killing our plant , I did want to ask how was the registration process , I know it very from state to state but what did they need from you and what did they charge you for !
Just remind us how batteries are made and disposed of?? What fuel Is used to recharge then (power Stations???) snowflakes everywhere!!!
Did you put a cycle analyst on it yet? If so what did you learn? I'm intrigued by this inexpensive little bike and I'm trying to learn more about it.
How many watts is the motor and how many volts is the battery that bike is fly. And now I'm interested
How was the registration process?
Did you need a motorcycle licences?
Hey , I know you live in massachusetts..I live in Springfield massachusetts, is there any place I can go to just buy an electric motorcycle?? Without any shipping?
I wish we had these in South Africa
I'm guessing this bike must be licensed and insured like a motorcycle?? Also for the Q&A things like battery voltage, capacity, time to charge ect would be interesting. Looking forward to the Q&A.
Awesome bike mate.
Thanks for the update. Nice to know what is out there.
Can you show how the battery comes off the bike? Curious how easily it'd be to charge off the bike.
If you want storage then you'll have to install saddlebags, and possibly a trunk.
Looks small. Is it smaller than a regular bike? Will it look normal for a 6'2 Rider?
I have the same question.
Thanks for the cold weather update... Cool bike...
Nice video mate! Love the bike! Keep the great work. Cheers!
Any info on how I can upgrade mine to get more power?
Controller, battery, slick tires. Watch hp logic he's upgraded a suron. He started at 50mph now his suron does 85-90mph
Does it feel fast when your riding the bike it does look really cool the bike I want one do you need tax mot and insurance ride that?
I hope theres enough torque for pasaanger, and backpack will look good ,,,
Would like to see how or does with a passenger.
Do you think there would be any chance of a double battery mod? My commute is 38 miles. Any chance of a gearing change to get 55 mph cruise speed with a double battery and an aero tail trunk and windscreen?
