Ebikes are game changer for people with lung disease and worn-out joints. They allow people to enjoy moving again while assisting on hills. Certification on batteries issue for bring bike into shops and buildings.
I was a firefighter who used to live mountain biking. Then got Injured and couldn't walk for months. 7 surgeries and many years later, I wanted to get active again. As you might guess, it was difficult. Add breathing issues from years of eating smoke... Biking was almost a lost cause for me. Then I was gifted an ebike. Life changer! Unfortunately, the company is out of business and Its battery went bad. I suppose I can try to rebuild it this winter. Anyway, My hope is that legislators consider people like me when making their laws. ebikes do give people back their lives and help them get fit (If they decide to reduce the assistance anyway).
Yes I agree with the above comment.... I have back issues and need a motor on my bicycle otherwise I wouldn't be able to go out on it... On a side note I built my own electric bike and in my opinion it's better cos u can build it how u need it (bigger/smaller battery/motor) and it's a lot cheaper!!
Follow the High Voltage channel and watch his work with the ToSeven DM-01 & DM-02 torque sensing Mid-drive motors. Good DIY option to trick out an existing MTB. Battery mounting is tricky if you have full suspension.
The Bafang BBS02 & BBSHD motors are excellent motors but are Cadence Sensing which are good for 30 mph Commuting.

You are right on lung disease.
I find it totally awesome that you are giving away e-bikes to deserving people. Your a top-notch dude Micah!
Love e-bikes! I had cancer treatment last year and this has been a very helpful way for me to get back some cardio and strength. Love that you’re helping people to get an e-bike!!!
well done Micah!
as a senior counting on social security, I was going to enter into the drawing for the lectric bike just because they make perfect sense; however, after reading the winning entry from Ashley H. for the free bike contest of your last video, there's a much greater need out there than mine. keep up the great work!
thanks much, from Phoenix AZ!
11:50 Can't believe I got chosen and can't wait to get out and ride! Thanks Micah!
Nice channel man, after a few months in 20 20 convinced, u convinced to get one, got a 500w Ride 1 Up, live in NC mountains and at 66 yo, recovering from brain surgery, hadn't ridden a bike in 24 years, but the electric idea really got me (needed to practice my attention span before got behind the wheel of a car) got one delivered for $1200, been riding it for three years, have 1550 miles on it, and it's going strong, only with I had a soft tail, that's my next goal!! Much obliged for your channel, it's objectivity, and its social intentions, really appreciate what youre doing!!
@casparcoaster1936, how has the Ride1Up worked out. I'm in South Carolina and I know the mountains in Asheville can be pretty steep.
Don't watch many channels but this is always good stuff. Best video for me was you doing the deliveries. Not content you'd watch again and again but your realization and sympathy with the delivery drivers at the end of it was testament to your empathy.
The beginnings of my ebike love has opened my eyes to the incredible diy communities and ideas. Now untapped potential/mod is a factor for me. Just as important as initial build quality or price.
I'm happy when I can ride and am staying with Class II. Many of us older Americans don't have the need for speed, and since speed kills range, staying at 20mph gives me a longer range.
How lucky we are to have a spokesperson like you for eBikes. Also didn't know you had this channel so I had to subscribe immediately. You are the best never change.
You spoke of car manufacturers branching into e-bike production, but what about motorcycle manufacturers? Venturing into e-bike manufacturing seems like a natural progression for motorcycle or scooter companies.
There are a lot od Ebikes and Escooters riders on BART here at the starting point at the Antioch Station. They are mostly last mile riders but some commute pretty far on them. I'm glad some have gotten smaller and have better batteries for range and speed.
Our transit bus system here in Edmonton Alberta has bike racks and will take you anywhere. Unfortunately they won't take fat tire bikes. The racks can only accommodate up to 2.5 in diameter tires and smaller. I've been following you for some time now and I think you do a very good service for the community. Cheers from Canada.
2.5” diameter tires? Is that for a mouse?
@@BlownMacTruckYou know the OP meant 2.5" width, not diameter.
@@charlienyc1 Really?
@@BlownMacTruck Well idk, maybe you didn't. I suppose you're being sarcastic, which doesn't translate well here.
I use busses, and my specialized como 2.0 at 2.3 inches is a tight fit into the racks. My next bike will also be 2.3 or less.
Stellantis collaborated with Quietkat resulting in the 'Rubicon' and 'Jeep' models of their full suspension fat tire bikes. Rubicon is no longer offered and the remaining Jeep inventory was sold to Quadratec. I purchased 2 Jeeps from Quietkat and they are awesome.
That's awesome that you help someone get a E bike. Thanks for the videos
Just ran across your channel and wish I had found it earlier. I love predictions and I think you will hit at least 3 this year. RAD reducing its Radrover 6+ $900??? How great is that? For me, I am patiently waiting for Aventon to make some discounts on the Adventure 2. Keep up the good work!
I saw the Adventure 2 sold at Upway for $1400.....
I’ll appreciate if you check $1K market price of e-bikes where we all e-bike enthusiasts see the best value for your money, and they are unfortunately not a part of the the major bike shop brands you mentioned. Benchmark in this price range is arguably 2023 Lectric XP3.0, but for example, $650-700 AiPas A2 Elite is considered by many as the best value in this market price range? Not to mention AiPas A6 including double cargo e-bike..
In Europe bikes and ebikes are more often used as a use mode of transportation instead of just recreation. Especially since many of the older cities are not designed for car traffic, but smaller horse and pedestrian traffic allowing bikes to easily be used. Plus $3,000 is cheaper than $20-40k (all transferred to the proper European currency) for a vehicle.
True! Americans are looking for toys as opposed to tools.
I have been riding an e-bike for about six months, it has a Bosch motor and battery, by one bafflement is the lack of USBc Charging, although slow the ability to top up while at work using say an iphone charger, would be very useful, conversely using the battery as a general charging resource for laptops and phones would be great while say camping.
I see younger people with the budget to buy at the $2,000 to $2,500 range. What they seem to be interested in are higher power and range into class 3 and above with pedals. In order for companies to draw in more of the thrill "seeker crowd", a big group, companies need to have a couple models in the 40 mph range. More power and range with the ability to dial it back for casual rides and get in to traffic speeds where it is needed. Higher speeds and bigger batteries seem to be a huge market share that will never go away.
40 and young people, is now they gonna be monitered.
@@johnmccatherin5892 I would love to be in traffic going 45 mph on a bike that looks like just a bike with a battery. Not a moped or motorcycle or a dirt bike..
@kevinnashskitchen3517 yeah me too, idn if the government/ car drivers will be happy.
@kevinnashskitchen3517 going 30 and having no gas and insurance costs, enjoying the outdoors is pretty sweet why f it up?
Will Lectric add MAG WHEELS? I had several rear wheel broken spokes this year.
Not only are they good for people with with worn out joints, but they are great equalizers, so people with disparate levels can ride together
Enjoyed your predictions - my husband and I retired last year and picked up our first e-bikes today - I hope more retirees join us in this market - great for getting yourself outside, getting exercise without being intimidated by large hills and enjoying nature as well as quick trips to the market! I hope they pass the e-bike tax credit this year too.
I would like to see designs with car bike racks in mind, i.e. how about a step through ebike with a companion car rack for hitch mount, that can handle two ebikes with detachable ramp for easy mount dismount. So many of these new ebike designs have weird frames that are difficult to mount on a bike rack. Taking two bikes on a car to a bike trailhead is such a common use-case, yet finding nice ebikes and compatible bike racks is getting more difficult it seems.
70 yr old woman and still waiting on a great ebike for Alabama Mtns and beaches in south Florida . 💥❤️🚴💫
Get a fat tire bike, you will need it to handle sand at the beaches. And will obviously work ok on Pavement with electric assist
I really see more direct drive 60 V e-bikes coming in the future potentially in a moped style
Shouldn't go higher than 60v for general safety. At least that's my understanding, on cars anything above 60v is given high voltage wrap
Thanks for the great video. Keep 'em coming my man.
Bbshd 1500 watts from Lunacycle or from golden motors and Buy Batteries from Wallen power. 52v 20ah or 48v 20ah. Are yhe best choice you can Make! Wallen power sells great battery high end batteries. I personally have 4 batteries. They all great 4 years of hard use!!!
It makes sense that bikes would be cheaper in Europe since biking is more of a mode of regular transportation there. In Holland you can get a great bike for about half the price of bikes in the US.
Nice presentation ! Your assessment of the lectric bikes confirms my research! Thank you !
An affordable reverse trike is needed, two wheels in the front, one in the back. A senior friend bought a conventional trike last year and sent it back. It was unstable and terrifying for her to ride.
It's more expensive to setup steering for 2 wheels as opposed to 1
@@andyfumo8931 Yeah, but a conventional trike is unridable, try one, you'll see what I mean.
The big problem is the Alu frame, people see it as fragile, and in my experience it is, so if the frame has no suspension, as with the VanMoof, that is a deal breaker. Then the fear of burning your flat/house down when the batteries explode because you have charged them too long. Then the cost, heavy rain ability, low legal speeds in the UK, and high cost of replacement batteries, lack of new battery technology, and basic lack of need; many just don't see them as long term investments due to the Alu frames and high cost, and theft threat.
I think it would be cool if they can develop conversion products to integrate all these different ebikes to be compatible to one screen with GPS maps, speed, battery, trip computer and maybe even localized text messaging between a group of riders..
I sure enjoy your new year predictions/ideas
informative as are your other vids - thank you
yeah that lite bike looks cool - ive won a Favato step thru & that great - they have a flip that cheap, but not as lite as that lectric! [i think?] still under $800 and appealing.
I like your ebike battery rebuilds too, might do that! and bike conversions! wow possibilities I should get a bafang mid drive for my Schwinn. . .
thank you for your great ideas.
I hope to have my Heated/Cooled/Massage bicycle seat ready to go by RAGBRI! Waiting on the Patent.
On regulation i expect and hope they continue with the push to UL or ETL certification. these stories always pop up of fires from ebikes and ascooter, when you look into them it is usually a cheap charger or low end bike battery lacking a bms, or allowing charging when the bms fails. My work bans any ebikees in the bike racks without approval of the bike. Luckily my Aventon Level was UL listed so it is allowed.
Thanks for your informed observations and predictions! Batteries are major contributors to cost and weight of e-bikes. Do you see developments on the horizon to make batteries cheaper and/or lighter?
Great job on the video Micah! Thanks for making it.
I WAS considering an E-bike but if they are going out of business, I don’t want to lay out $1,100-1,600+ even if it’s “on sale.”
I have asbestosis and interstitial lung disease. My ebike broke down and UPS lost it for months so I have to ride a mechanical bike and truthfully ( 200 miles easily) it was hell.
Hmmm, here in Germany we have some brands that sell affordable bikes with high specs.
What you don’t see that often are those cheap spect bikes with Tourneys etc. But this whole fatbike thing is growing, too.
Was there a big new thing in the last years? Maybe the torque sensor in the US. In Europe there was nothing, as our bikes mostly have torque sensors because of the middrives.
Your prediction with car brands wasn’t that far off. But it happens more outside the US. Here in the EU, more and more car industry suppliers are stepping into the game. Not with complete bikes, but with components.
I love your videos. Thanks for keeping us informed about the e-bike world and for helping people out with your giveaways.
Where are these sales?!
I got my folding bike from temu it was cheap at 397.00 plus tax 429.00 i love it except the suspension is solid no mater the bump it dont move and is extremely hard it will do 40 mph and battery has good long life the other problem is it weighs over 80 pounds i am a small guy and cant lift it to get in second story apartment
I agree with your assertion that the e-bike certification thing is yet one more example of a knee-jerk reaction. I think certification is a positive approach but insisting that it be UL certified is crazy for the reasons you mentioned. ETL and many other good certifications exist.
Health related vision problems forced me out of the workforce and being able to drive i live in a area surrounded by hills and riding a standard bike isn't realistic. an Ebike would help me regain some independence. Being on disability it's just not feasible to purchase one. Thanks for the opportunity.
I need a etrike, so I will be able to get around. I plan on watching all your videos in my research.
Thanks for the updates. I would like to know more info on the struggling companies.
I work at Brose and we make the drives for a lot of Ebikes in europe and China
I Apparently have a taste for cheap ebikes. I like the bikes with the silverfish battery slotted being the seatpost. I suppose because I don't trust being able to order the right size integrated battery should a model or company be discontinued.
I wish (some) cheap companies would change their business model so we can order the bike separate from a easy to order, certified battery. That way people can buy the battery worth the amount of range they need.
The Jetson Bolt Pro would be my example bike. So many people buy that only to modify it immediately. What happens to the unused original battery?
I think there may be a trend to standardize ebike motors and batteries at 48v, since Tesla is already pushing 48v for electric vehicles. German car manufacturers Audi, BMW, Daimler Benz, Porsche, and Volkswagen already support a 48V system to phase out the standard 12V automotive system. Hyundai and Ford are also coming on board. Having 48v charging stations would benefit ebike riders as much as newer ICE, hybrid and fully electric cars.
I want to see more single speed ebikes. No need for a cassette or rear brakes.
Wanna keep it cheap? That's the way.
This very interesting, love all your videos.
Keep it up🎉
Good one👍🏽. Got me a $1200 ebike last December from Randride (the Explorer model). Not me first ebike, but the first serious one. Really love it but I'm surprised I haven't come across any of your videos where it's mentioned. Could you please have a lot at the Randride offerings?
I'm ready for more belt drive brands
Hi, Thanks for sharing your experience and predictions. I'm retiring soon from the electro mechanical field and in the process of starting an electric bike shop and would like your thoughts on the best way to go about this. Thanks in advance!
I'd like to know what you recommend for a fat tire trike for this year. Something for around the neighborhood, parks and on the beach( I do surf fishing, clamming etc) I turn 65 this may and lost my right leg below the knee last Halloween ( diabetes) so im not looking for something "X"treme, just something to get around as i approach retirement. Any advice would be greatly appreciated 🙏 😊
I really want to see power tool companies produce ebikes. I find it crazy, that Bosch makes the motors for so many of these ebikes, but they haven't made an ebike themselves. Producing an ebike that uses their power-tool batteries would be a really smart move, especially to get consumers into their higher voltage battery markets, which are generally only for large power tools and lawnmowers.
u are one of the coolest unselfish guy in the world also nice to teach about e bikes
Thanks for your predictions
Guess we’ll now have to wait and see
Great info - Bought my first Ebike
I think we will see more built in theft deterrent.
I just got a good deal on a new Mokwheel e-bike Mesa lite for a total cost of $806.00 including $400 worth of accessories. Over $860.00 off retail. Great deals right now.
where did you find that type of deal ?
@@mikesmock12 right on Mokwheels web site about a month ago. Was checking prices everyday and they had a special deal of 799.00 for the bike and 9 dollars for the $ 400 worth of accessories. Free shipping and no tax! Super deal for sure. Great bike.
@@mikesmock12 On Mokweels website. Today the same deal cost $948.99. I bought it about a month ago. Mokwheel doesn't charge for shipping or taxes.
9:12 that was a really nice touch. lmao
I’m 73, still love riding and E bikes help me do that. I love making them better.
Thanks For all the Great Info
E bike saved my life. Could barely climb stairs from knee pain. Five years later and 75 years old doing great. Living ina teepee way of grid and loving life
Do you have a choice of what ads show up on your site?
Fat tires and motorbike-style seats make e-bikes more practical. Traditional bicycle seats and tires are torture going over 10 (unless the street is glass-smooth).
I'll be buying your books. Got too many Frankenstein ebikes, so I'm not a candidate. I have a question. Two 36v batteries, two 36v controllers, and one 72v motor. Is it possible?
The channel is quite informative. Thank you Micah.
Glad you think so!
Budget bikes. Yep some will go now the Tubes. I am looking for a moped type bike. I hope they don't start making bunch of rules for "MY Safety". But fire safety should be done no fire in my garage. Cargo bike with two wheel drive. Electric loader is still on my list.
Awesome Consumer Report for E-bikes! I would love to win a new E bike so I can give mine to a special-needs friend. She is partially blind, and will only ride between my husband and I to keep her safe
There is a lot of lower income people need a enclosed E bike that can be mobile to be able to get back and forth to work. Cars are around $17,000 and up. So a lot of people need something to get around. E bikes are limited to Summer use. And bus lines are not available for most people.
Agree with all of your predictions!! The larger e bike companies are actually the ones in the most danger as they have massive overhead and their inventories are obsolete and overpriced as China continues to dump ever cheaper bikes on the market. Great year for the e bike consumer, not so much for the e bike companies. I think you’ll see some big legacy brands implode under the intense competitive pressure.
Do you ever give away the XP Trike?
Good predictions!
i have been concerned with the trend for electric bicycle companies moving toward fat tire bikes. Fat Tire bikes have tires/wheels that are too wide to fit in the trays of public bus bicycle racks. And I think it is important to make them usable on the public bus bicycle racks because it extends the distance you can go and it can be used to transport the bicycle if there is a mechanical problem. I think the maximum width a standard public bus bicycle rack and hold is 2.5 inches in wdth.
What is considered a small bike brand?
Buying a $3000 plus E bike just isn’t for everyone. I love the bikes but I can’t justify that price with all of the other hobbies that I have. I’m a kayaker a hunter fisherman hiker and backpacker so my hobby money is spread pretty thin as it is, I chose to go with a sub $1500 E bike all wheel drive called a moon cool. I found that it fits my needs perfectly and stayed within my budget unless you are a serious biker the budget E bikes are really gonna be where the market is at now and into the future, I think.
Always enjoy your predictions. Can't wait to see if they are true 😅
I love your ebike content keep it up!
Love the channel, and predictions please put me in the running for the free book!
Awesome video ❤
Hey, you think the Chinese truck will get an updated video anytime soon? Have been looking forward to your planned upgrades.
Definitely! It’s going as strong as ever!
As long time conventional cycling enthusiasts, this past September, my wife and I had to finally admit that age and worn joints meant that it was time for us to make the switch to e-bikes. Thank you so much for your educational videos as they have been a great help to us in our decision-making process. We are now riding Aventons bought from a bicycle shop and are adding accessories to make them even better. Keep up the good work! I'm looking forward to your next presentation.
Thanks for the 2024 predictions.
What was that website that listed all tax credits and incentives for e bike purchases?
just think, next year you will be able to get a e-bike with a huey helicopter rocket assist, they will only guaranty it for one run though!.
Keep the videos going 👍
Really like
Are you interested to test our ebike?
What are your thoughts on the new Sodium ion batteries?
When the production cost will match retail price, then it will be an interesting chemistry...
Can you recommend a trike that has pedal assist for my 75yo dad? Also in Florida.
Addmotor, the green one
Great new cheaper bikes are my favourite endevor i would like to save and buy my own ebike some day
I really enjoy your channel.
I'm so glad!
While yes I believe manufacturers should;d be held responsible for making safe ebikes , they cant be responsible for stupid. I don’t like government giving out money for them, because they need to get that money from somewhere. Means they will start making you get license or insurance or special taxes somewhere. I have been following the market also and agree with your predictions. Americans do want quality problem is they have not had the ebikes here as long as across the pond so they are still basically new to people. Give it a couple more years of growth and you will see that we will want better bikes and paying less isn’t bad if you know what you are buying.
dang . some old ebike heads out there . my email say i got a currie e-cruiser in 2006 with that cool little left side Electro-drive
Wow, that sure is old school, I remember those! I overvolted one for more power and it worked great until the first hill when all the smoke came out of the motor…
@@EbikeSchool i swear i saw some company retrofitting them as mid drives recently . neat
*Correction. Vanmoof didn’t end up closing down. Mclaren subsidary Lavoie bought it when they filed for bankruptcy and they hope to correct challenges that led to bankruptcy.
Vanmoof lives ❤ 🇳🇱
A Super Capacitor Hybrid battery is what people want. Lighter and Faster charging battery that won't create a Fire hazard is ideal.
5 lb, 15 mile range battery that you can recharge in 10 minutes would be the innovation that leads to lighter ebikes. Range anxiety is minimal with such a quick charge.
