The Death Wish movies are classic! Herbie Hancok produced the soundtrack of the first movie and Jimmy Page produced the second movie, both are available on wax
This is dope as fuck. I can hear the Public Enemy sampling process of how they threw together so many different sound effects and samples to create beautiful madness. Subbed up
I don’t know how the heck I ended up on your channel but that was freaking awesome! Hilarious beat. You have a new subscriber, i’ll be watching! Thanks!
I love watching this so I can do similar when I get the Roland S-550, I got the Roland PC-200 and I have a some VHS tapes of mine and a lot of VHS tapes to grab too! Thank you for making this groovie video! 🐼🎨📼
On the S-550 try sampling on the lower 15k setting for extra gritty. It has so good converters that 30k sounds almost like 16bit. I have one since 1988 and now two. There is a SCSI addon kit for it.
As someone who has a massive vhs 📼 collection and who also makes beats I found this fascinating. I’ve heard about producers like MF DOOM sampling vhs but never seen it done. This was super dope Bro. Mad props.👏🔥💾🔥💾🔥💾🔥🔊🔥📼🔥
Thanks for the kind words! VHS tapes are some of my favorite things to sample. There are a bunch of drum lesson tapes out there to snag drums off etc. The hard part can be keeping the old VCRs from eating your tapes 😆
Man you got some cool gear! Out of everything what's your favourite sampler? I've got an MPC60, S950 and EPS 16 Plus currently, I have to say I love the EPS16+ the most not necessarily 'cause of sound but 'cause I can get so creative with it
Sounds like something NWA would be on. I love sampling the little nothing's from movies. Folks are so hyped for the songs but not the score and interstitials.
Recuerdo cuando Public enemy denunció a Madonna por robarles el beat pero aquí estamos robándoles a ellos sin que pase nada...muestrear ya no enoja a nadie, James Brown quiso denunciar a cientos de raperos pero no tuvo éxito...
Sorry about that. I didn’t feel like wasting time showing me working the samples and should have just cut the whole section out haha. I wish I could hire a editor. It’s the one reason I don’t post more often. I can never streamline my work flow.

I wouldn't be surprised if producers did this all the time in the 80s. That's cool.
RZA did for sure
Video of a guy sampling a video of a Madonna sampling a Public Enemy track sampling a James Brown track. Nice.
Thanks for watching!
And that's why I kept that drum machine right there! The nostalgia of it makes it priceless.
If you hold on to it a bit more. You'll be rich. No exaggerating.

Yeah, I love noisy beats haha. Thanks for watching!

welcome @@AlexisG73
this is dope, but that scream sample drives me insane man lol, looks super fun to work with this stuff :)
I absolutely love that pitching thing you did with the hihats during the breakdown !
Some old school trickery haha. Thanks for watching!
@@Soultron It's a great effect. Both the rhythm and the pitching. So, there is a trick to it ?
Nothing too fancy. You just pitch the sample via the slider while pressing the Tap/Repeat button. @@bontempo1271
@@Soultron ahh cool. And on the SP, that gives it that extra sparkly effect. Love it, thanks man
I call it "Cosmic Glitter" aka aliasing haha@@bontempo1271
Really interesting seeing the sampling process, now I gotta binge your stuff. No choice.
Bro this is Raw AF! 🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥
Love that Amen style snare!

I’m glad you liked the video! You never know what you can find on old tapes!

VHS drum tuition vids - a cheap way to get sum unique breaks.
Very very old school sampling Style, i love it

That's the same way Dr.Dre did it back then, salute sir💯
Criminal sound 🔥🔥🔥🔥
That’s fucking madness bro!
At first, I was like nah that beat his toy, but then the finished Beat was fucking sick at end. Mad
Brilliant man
That bass kickin'
Creative af! Good stuff

Nice beat!
DAMN GOOD!!! 🔥
Wow man so dope
The effect of the vhs sound on this beat is secondary, his technique makes it great!
Nice well done bro! 👌🏽
Legend!!!
dope
Nice
I don’t deal with this much anymore, but the more I fought it, the more intense it got; I just tried to relax and let it pass and I’d snap out of it.
This is lit!!!!!!!❤❤❤❤❤
Thanks for watching!🙂

I also thought MF was sampling tape recordings off the television but seeing this process made it all make a lot more sense.

Nice 👍🏿
Dope
This beat is fire
How’d you get a hold of that diy 808 joint?? I’d love to make one myself..
how did you make the 808 module?
I just added the link in my video description. I also bought a power supply from eBay to use inside the box.
I've heard sampling from VHS is actually cleaner (better sound) than sampling from cassette something to do with the size of strip,
Nice beat, do you set the SP to poly or omni?
Thanks! Mine is set to Omni.
This was awesome. How do you get a VHS player to work on a S950?
Just use the audio outs of the VCR into the input of the 950
Oh shoot might get myself an akai than damn
Sounds like something NWA would be on. I love sampling the little nothing's from movies. Folks are so hyped for the songs but not the score and interstitials.
How much sampling time does the S950 have?
AWESOME WORK 👌

back when you had to be creative
what's going on with the awkward video edits?
Sorry about that. I didn’t feel like wasting time showing me working the samples and should have just cut the whole section out haha. I wish I could hire a editor. It’s the one reason I don’t post more often. I can never streamline my work flow.
I'm fine with it, cut right to the chase and yea I didnt want to see you tweak samples.
