Hi Ron . I think I have watched ' almost ' every episode that you have done over the past two years . As winter comes again your still only wearing a Tee shirt in the house. Amazing ! Over here in the UK WE'RE WEARING JUMPERS AND THERMALS inside the house . Canadian houses must be well insulated. Looking forward to tonights episode. Best wishes from the UK . John
Hi John, Yes, here in Canada the building/construction regulations for home insulation is quite strict. My house is usually warmer inside in the winter than it is in the summer when I have the air conditioning on. I usually have it at about 24° Celsius sometimes warmer depending on what I'm doing. If I'm not moving around I might have it as warm as 26° Celsius. But that's just me. Other people will have it only at about maybe 20°. Anyway, thanks for noticing and commenting. 👍
Hi Viewers, I was suddenly getting a lot of comments from people who said they were here because of "JayTwoCents" At first I thought it as some sort of scam to promote something, and I deleted them all --- well most of them anyway. I later learned what had happened. ua-cam.com/video/AL2Kl4xLvZ0/v-deo.html Thanks for watching. 👍
Well............... that video put a lot of smiles on my face! ............... and brought back a lot of memories too. Wish I could have been to help you with that table but I left my winter jacket back in Michigan. ... and my boots. ............ and my snow shovel. ........... and snow blower. ............. and roof scraper. .............and ice fishing equipment. ................. and cross country skis. and............. heck, I don't even like snow cones any more. See ya tomorrow. JimE PS:Sure is nice to hear that Big Clock going click, .............click, ...........click.
That is one BIG assembly table! I'm looking forward to seeing this next project. However, if you need to take a few days off and recover, I'm sure everyone will understand. I'll still be here when you get back. See you later.
Hi Ron, you brought back a few memories there I was originally from the UK and born in 1955 and had a Lancaster. I’m ready for the ship 🚢 build, thinking 💭 it’s going to be a long one. Luckily my wife just bought me a new pair of slippers so I’m ready. Btw going to be 41 c here tomorrow.
Hi Philip, I've noticed that model making seems to be more popular outside of North America --- don't know why. Yes, this build will be my biggest (plastic that is) and definitely the longest timewise. Hope I haven't taken on another meal of elephant, haha. 41c - now you're getting the other extreme!
I wonder just how many millions of "unfinished" ship models there are around the world, haha! Hope the one I'm getting doesn't turn out to be another one of them 😊
Back in the fifties I used to put model planes together. Mostly plastic but some were balsa wood and covered in paper. I have found more tight places lately than there used to be too. Boy your Mom was BEAUTIFUL and you haven't changed much either.
You're half correct there Billy. Mom was beautiful! Anyway, remember how we had to have the windows open when applying the dope to that tissue paper? I can smell that still :)
hi ron looking forward to the model build if it is anything like your projects it will be beautiful i too have arthritis but it is in my spine i am only 53 it started over 10 years ago i have began a model railway layout to pass the time as i had to give up work as a fitted kitchen and fitted bedroom maker and installer i was self employed and like you and your woodwork i loved my job too but thats life we live and we adapt to what ever is put our way but i always say there is always someone with a worse story looking to watching keep up the great work and take care best regards james
Hi James, That's rough when you have to stop that early. Sorry to hear that. I worked with a guy who was huge into HO scale. I never actually saw it but apparently his layout took up most of his basement. Thanks for sharing 😊
I am really looking forward to this series. It randomly came up on my recommended videos, and checked out video 1500 something, decided to start at the beginning, model building and story telling, perfect!
I've been building plastic models on and off for 40 years or so... but it's only in the last couple of years that I've really concentrated on new techniques to make my models look better and more realistic. Although my new hobby is wooden ships. I purchased a couple of sets a month or two ago and they're occupying most of my free time. (in a good way)
Thanks for watching and commenting. As of this moment, you've "only" got 525 more episodes to watch in this series to catch up to present time, lol. 🙂👍
We used to have two tables at family get togethers, kids and grown-ups. We felt awful special when we would finally be told we'd been promoted to the grown-up table 😁
Well welcome on board Spencer. This "The Model Ship" series could go on for a long time. I'll be shooting episode 8 today and the kit isn't ever here yet, lol. Thanks for watching 😊
Hi Ron This is Tony I've been watching and enjoying your show from the beginning. I have a question about one of your recent post. You mentioned a book by Steffens that had some detailed drawings and showed some of the guns used. I was wondering if you could please send me the full title of this book I think it would be a very useful addition to my collection and my model building Thanks so much from Michigan

I am 3:32 into this video, and I have already had a chat with myself. There is probably a place where you can find the materials you need to complete your table. That place probably has an online presence, and might also sell gift cards to their establishment. Let me know if you're interested. I really want to see the next series. You would just have to go pick it up. Bob
Thanks anyway Bob. Nice of you to offer, but at this stage in my life I think it's the drive and energy I'm lacking. 2X4's are cheap, but it means that I have to get in the car and get them, lol :)
@@roncalverley I'm pretty sure you have the drive. You listed this video as Part 1. I've never built a ship before, so I can't wait to follow along. Last thing I built was a B52 with a 4 foot wingspan. This is going to be fun. Happy to be here. Bob
I'm a first time viewer and I just wanted say I know what happened on why you don't fit with the plywood board in the stairwell. The stairwell shrunk. It has lost width. This has happened to me in my old house. The stairwell just up and shrunk in.
Ron you need to make wooden model of the Blue Nose. Wooden models are a lot more fun to make than old plastic ones. Although I prefer plastic boat models over plastic airplane models, lot more detail . Yep a wooden model of the Blue Nose.
Hi John, Yes, actually did seriously consider a wooden model ship and yes I did see the Bluenose. But somehow those wooden models don't look as realistic to me when viewed close up --- but obviously that's just my opinion because there sure are a lot of them being built.
The "big clock project" was mainly attempted with the idea to find out if I could make a clock out of scraps and stuff that I had on hand in my workshop. Also I wanted to see if small ball bearings could be used as cogs. I may be producing an update video in the future that hopefully will show it more finished. 😊

Just went backwards in time and found this! Enjoyed the clock and have always had a soft spot for the Titanic!
Glad you enjoyed it Joe! Yes, the story of the Titanic has gripped the imagination of many for over 100 years now --- me included. 👍

Yep can still smell it but outside only not in "momma' house".
It’s been over a year since last I saw your videos. I’m just happy you’re still making videos. I’m gonna binge on these series.
Now that I think about it, haven't seen you name come up for awhile. Welcome back 😊

It took me 2 1/2 years to build the AMT/Ertl 1/12 scale F-16 cockpit; I appreciate your attention to detail

Hi Richard. Thanks for watching and commenting. I've just uploaded episode 1684, so you've got a lot of viewing ahead of you. 😁
Ron it's a shame the the stairwell has swollen like it has. Just what you needed was another issue. Glad you made it.
Haha 😁
Looking forward for this new project Ron!
Me too Kwstas 😁

I can still remember the time when I was able to see the table top when walking past it. "Hey! I must be growing" I realized. 😊
Nigel just did a video for you on painting planking so I thought I'd check out your channel. Who knew, I'm only 40 miles to the south of you!
Carman maybe? 🙂

You'll like airbrushing. Only bummer is the super-clean condition they need to be kept in to work properly.
Yes, I understand that there is constant cleaning required.
