The Model Ship - Part 2255

- THIS IS NOT A TUTORIAL! It is more of a daily personal diary, or perhaps a vlog, centered around the building of plastic model ships. Don’t be surprised when I unexpectedly, but usually just momentarily, get into something completely unrelated. I was big into building models years ago. Apparently I’m trying to bring back “the good old days” by building plastic model ships. Feel free to learn from my mistakes while I muddle through this.
Good job on the hull today, Ron. I'm glad that you finally got it to fit. It was really good to see Max and Missy again. Have a great evening and I will see you next time!👍🙂
Thanks for watching Brian! 👍
Great episode last night Ron. What a job fitting together. We were waiting for your grownup words to come out lol. Take care n see you tonight.
Thanks! I’m still trying to keep it clean 😁👍
Ron, you got the clear rear part too fit. Looking forward to seeing with rear inner interior section fitted. I hope you have the joy of success 😊. Happy everything, Ron catch you tomorrow.😊
That's the planPaul! 👍
Thank you Ron and it is always about the journey and never the end. Getting there is all of the fun. Enjoy and thank you kiddo. Cheers.
Thanks Ed! I agree - the journey is the best part. 👍
Great video Ron .
Glad you enjoyed it Don. 👍
Good episode Ron, good to see Max and Missy that is going to be an impressive model when completed. Looking good!😊
Hi Gary,
Yes, it was really nice to have Max and Missy back again! 👍
Hi Ron, about a month ago, when the LA fire started, I mentioned that we might be next , well my family in Townsville and further up north got a meter of rain , we only have one highway up north and the concrete bridges have been washed away, Chinooks are flying in supplies, down south massive storms , you really got to love Australia in the summer, we on the other hand, we have had the mildest weather, humidity next to nothing! Guess we all take our turns with flooding, to this day my head boggles why everyone builds in flood plains! Yep I thought that module was going to be a problem, rehydrate the end and use one of your clamps to squeeze the ends together till it sets properly! See you tomorrow 😊😊😊
Wow, what a crazy summer weather in Australia! So glad you all are safe and sound. 🤞
Ron, Long time viewer, first comment. Thanks for the great show and many hours of entertainment. Thanks for all you do. Here is my comment. The conning tower had lights that I thought you were going to run down through the hull and behind the pressure hull (modules) and bring the wires out the bottom along with the others. If you seal the hull together, you might not be able to run those wires through the hull and out the bottom.
Thanks Dave, for the heads up! I'll keep that in mind. 👍
Clamping the keel on the forward section will give you more freedom to work with your hands. I think? Remove small area with file on the forward section of the keel? It's all part of the fun! Just like the mess here in the states! Lol
I'll give it a try. Thanks for the tip Ted! 👍
Hey Ron, good episode tonight, see you tomorrow. 👍👍👍👍
Yep! See you tomorrow Dan. 👍
I mentioned that as well the other day, aft bulkhead on the exterior side of the aft torpedo room bulkhead, forward of the propeller shafts
Yep, that's the one! Thanks Jeff. Just painted it now. 👍
Missy has that you sit and she jumps timing down pat.
That's the first episode I can see 12-14 opportunities for a good cussing session.😁 See ya. JimE
Haha! All part of the fun Jim! 😁
Hi Ron, An elastic band might be of use holding the end together to help you slide the stern section on? Probably have to cut the band after it is in place seeing all the delicate parts at the back though. Just a thought.
Have a good evening.
Hi Barry,
This evening I glued the last two modules together at the bulkheads. I'm hoping that I'll be able to slide the clear cone section over everything. We'll see what happens. Fingers crossed! 🤞
@roncalverley I was wondering if you were going down the route of glueing it all together at this stage. Fingers crossed the stern slips over now it is secured. 🤞
I feel that U8 Bulkhead is pushing the outer hull apart
👍
Wow Ron, that card took a while to get to you..I posted that almost 2 months ago. Must be the Strike you had with the post..
You had quite the struggle with the hull fittings..
Hi Dave,
Thanks for the card. Yes, our postal system is still recovering from that strike.
Hopefully by tomorrow the hull will be sorted out. 🤞
Hi Ron, I noticed the round plate just forward of the propeller there is a Y-14 written on it. Should that be painted over?
Oh my! How'd I missed that! Thanks! 😟
