Big Bang were never afraid to say what they felt about anything. They were the biggest thing from 2007 to 2016. They were also considered the bad boys of Kpop but the were the group that brought Kpop to the world. Without them even BTS would not be so big. They were still in school when Big Bang were at the top. Big Bang inspired BTS. Big Bang were the first to write and produce their own songs in Kpop. G Dragon produced the first light stick. The first to play instruments at concerts. The first to dye their hair and change hairstyles and so much more. This is why all Kpop groups look up to them. Kings

And on a personal level I barely looked at Big Bang 'cause I didn't liked the over the top style(like so many in kpop) also I can appreciate Gdragon is a great/successful song writer, don't know if he's a rapper or he does different styles, but I don't like his voice in this rap for exemple

The story behind the G-Dragon's MAMA diss.
For many years MAMA award was accused of rigging the votes. And it was so obvious that they were rigging it. They also don't give the award to deserving artists, especially when they don't attend their award show. Artists from the past would boycott MAMA because of it but despite all that MAMA didn't stop. G-Dragon also called out MAMA in an interview when they excluded other small and independent artists.
Then one year ago (before this performance), G-Dragon was getting lots of praise and award. MAMA decided to give the Best Dance performance award to him but he knew he didn't deserve that award because his song didn't even have any dance performance. So on that stage, without MAMA awards knowledge, he suddenly came out with dissed track. That's why the title only says Good Boy and Fantastic Baby. No one saw it coming. No one expected it. But dang! It was one of the best things that a Korean artist did.
Remember, this is South Korea. It's a country that values hierarchy. So a 26 year old G-Dragon dissing them like that was a crazy thing to do. That's like dealing with giants. But honestly, it was necessary. This performance is a legend and will be remembered in South Korea's music history. Those who witness this stage 8 years ago, still remembers it today.

Before they went to do their military services, they were in the height of their career and spread K-pop globally. It was a perfect swoop to the other idols. Kpop is spreading like a virus. The Kings of Kpop, the legend, are coming out of hiatus 🔥🔥!

G-Dragon and Taeyang's collab was so overdue. In fact, they should have a full album! These two were one of many trainees under YG that survived back in 2001-2005. G-Dragon was a genius 12-year-old rapper, while Taeyang was a hardworking child actor that plead Yang Hyun Suk to let him join YG. He couldn't sing yet at that time, but he wanted to learn so bad. They were supposed to debut as a duo too. At one point Jay Park was also being considered becoming a part of their group.
Then Yang Hyun Suk decided he will make a male IDOL group. G-Dragon was so pissed with the idea. He didn't want to be an idol. In the late years of first gen, idols were considered a joke in the music industry and by Koreans as well.
Taeyang and G Dragon did a duo together. They are both members of Big Bang. Taeyang won 3 Awards that night - include Song of the Year fo rhis song Eyes, Nose, Lips. The only male Soloist to ever do so to this date..... You must watch that MV and react to the lyrics of the song - absolutely the best song ever. And G Dragon - even now he is considered the ultimate King of Kpop. When BTS saw this Suga thougth Wow we need to sing like this. It was just stated in his meeting with Taeyang on his SUGASWICH which came out today also. A 1/2 hour programme - you mus watch it too. Please listen to Big Bang - from Lies there real early songs to Last Dance their last full song as a group before military. They have so many songs. And each member is a Solo Artist also. The only Kpop group where all members a Solo Artists with hit songs. Taeyang was the first to sing Solo in 2008 - WOW - he became the Prince of Kpop Rnb from then on.........

So happy that you decided to choose this performance that I requested as did others. Ironically during the interview that Taeyang had with Suga earlier today, when asked what one of his fav performance was, Taeyang immediately replied, that it was this one. He also said that taking off his matching jacket and going bare chested on top, was a last minute decision before going on stage. Which I’m sure most, including myself agree that was a wise decision! Lol 😅🔥🙏 So happy that there are indeed the Eng subs included in this one so you can also hear GD’s so meaningful, so admirable, as well as blunt, to the point, bold rap about all the corruption, within the industry, as well as these award shows, at the time. He even said this even though BigBang were at the time, the ones who indeed, deservedly so, who won most awards. But still felt the need to speak up for all the rookie idol groups (like BTS at the time) who had little if no chance to be acknowledged or treated respectfully since most came from not the ‘Big 3’ entertainment companies, where there was much corruption, & control of so much in the Kpop industry, at the time.

GD was actually saying something even more savage with his intro, which was directed at the award show itself. The line about “so there won’t be a fight” was a diss of the show, not his competition. He was calling the MAMA producers pushovers for fawning over popular artists and handing out awards to everyone and anyone just to get viewers and clout. He was calling them out for not caring about new acts or unknowns who deserve recognition. And he was proved right when after mocking the MAMAS in their own house, they invited him back for the main stage performance again the very next year! GD is the unbothered king of all kings.
Also, this is, but is not a collab. G-Dragon and Taeyang are both members of BigBang. When two or three from the same group do a project it’s called a sub-unit. It’s like a collab but with your own group. Sub-unit albums are very common in K-pop. 😃

This was more than just a collaboration, they’re actually a subunit, apart from BB. There’s also a rap line subunit with GD and TOP. Gd and Taeyang were supposed to debut as a hip hop duo and they trained for a few years together, before the rest of the members came along. They’re also best friends, that’s one of the reasons why they blend so well together. And yes, those were BTS, they were practically still rookies back in 2014. They’re big fans of BB. Can’t wait for more reactions to BB, especially to their lives. They’re always better live and that’s one of the reasons for which we’re not streaming their mv’s like crazy. We prefer to listen to their live performances, it hits different.❤️

Honestly, bigbang are like 5 soloists coming together as a group. The most interesting thing is that, each member can stand alone and perform. Each of them have their own identity. Their swag and style is top notch. This was a performance that G dragon dissed MAMA award, it is legendary, he is a strong artist. I respect G dragon alot. I hope he performs on stage again.. Miss him
You just stumbled upon the best group you could!! 🥰 Their energy is incomparable on stage honestly. If you see them as a group, or if you see them solo or in their sub units, the energy and stage charisma and presence is special! Check out also GD and TOP as a subunit - different vibe from GD and Taeyang but equally explosive, freaky and weird in an amazing way!! Two very very strong rappers together!! I think what distinguishes BigBang is that there is no weak link in the group and they are individually successful as they are as a group!! Another nice reaction. G Dragon was dissing MAMA in 2014 - interpreted as saying that the awards should be given solely on merit, not on popularity or fame, or because they might upset someone. He wrote it just hours before the performance. At 2013 MAMA he felt that of the 4 awards he received - the one for best dancer for his song Crooked, was more deserved by others (maybe Seungri who released a lot of music in 2013 with greater dance content.) Although it was still a great performance, he didn't dance during his MAMA 2013 performance of Crooked. Maybe this was one of the things that provoked the 2014 dis.
G Dragon's actual name is Ji-yong. Yong means dragon in Korean - so he literally is G(Ji) Dragon. He was also born in the year of the dragon and was using that stage name at least as early as 13.

Back then every time BIGBANG attends MAMA they were bound to make the whole award show a BIGBANG concert I recommend "BigBang - Monster In Me (2012 MAMA)" live and the whole "BIGBANG_1123_MAMA_Performances" a good introduction for the individual member's solo music.

BTS literally got me started looking into all these other groups, even though BB was a senior group as is SHINee, another great group to look into. But this has to be my favorite live performance by them. Our boys also performed at this very show, they had a shared performance with a group called Block B, definitely check it out! This is the greatest of all time performance in MAMA history. You're so right that GD and Taeyang are two men army. Those two have been a game changer at this kpop scene for over a decade. Since 2014, except other bigbang performances in MAMA, there's not a single performance to compete this one. Not even close.
