    A21Brovo, I am about to start my own 2002 5.3 for a turbo setup. I have a printed copy of the wires from lt1 I think it is. On the website it says that things highlighted in yellow can be removed. Along with the the ones it says are not needed? It also says that if you have a need for 4 o2 sensors or Evap system don't take them out.
    Please let me know which ones stay and which ones got to go!
    Your help is not only truly appreciated, but very much needed. I have no help from local people or friends.

    Your videos really help me solve so many questions that come up when I start to wonder what I can get away with. The gear ratios of the cd0009 are keeping me from doing that tho. I don't really want to modify the subframe and have axles made.. ect. 2800-3200k highway ain't gonna cut it on a 5.3.... ugh sorry it's just such a long list of pros and cons that I've been dancing around for over a year now.

    Maybe if someone is having trouble, they could hang a sheet of plywood, with nails to hang the harness on then label the ply wood for the sensors, to help keep it straight in your head! I have sort of done this in car, basically if you have changed a engine, you can do this!

    What would a good donor for a 4.8 swap for 97s10 ? I want to swap the engine and transmission, keep the 4L60 until something happens to it, a 6 or 8 speed sounds nice anyway, but likely more than I want to spend on it! Maybe a future project, I want it to be like factory, if they made a 4.8 97 s10 in the 00's I'd like to do a cam swap and turbo, eventually, with about 10psi. Great video!

    This is all great. But as lt1swap said on a FB post said. The big black plug for fuse block. He said cut all of the NON pink wires. And trace to source. Either to pcm connector or to the sensor. And the other connectors by the fuse block plug cut those off and trace as well.
    If they go to PCM use the diagram as to what to do with it. Blue or yellow highlight meaning.

    This video has already helped me. I have a Dodge 2500 Cummins 4x4 6 speed, got all sorts of trouble from the harness. Almost 400k on it but I'm into it too deep back out now. The engine harness is discontinued so my options are buy used ($1500 if you can find one) or patch and repair (driving me nuts) or a stand alone but I'm told that won't work and I'm not sure why. Don't know if you'll ever see this post but I gotta give it a shot. What would you suggest? This is also my daily drive. I'm about to pull the whole harness out and bring it inside, but I really don't want to..

    Another excellent how to video, sir! I may give this a shot, for shits and gigs. Planning to use the gold box for my junk, but may want to try the factory stuff in the future, and winter is a comin. I do need to figure out how to pin a ff sensor to an e38 for my 11 camaro though. Shouldn’t be too difficult, and I know you did a video for the truck not that long ago too eh?
    Anyway, learned a lot here, definitely make this look a lot less intimidating, and almost a little relaxing, what with the beer and all. Almost a nice rainy day project.

    So I have been doing research for an LS swap in my recently acquired 76 Cheyenne truck. I wanted to ask about to things that you didn't mention yet in your video (I'm 14 minutes in as I write this.)
    So I was watching this one guy's video, and he said that you need to get around the VATS by flashing the CPU or buying a bypass. Is that true? How did you personally get around that? Secondly, I wanted to save money for now, and just hook up my engine to the stock th350 in the truck. Adapter kits are cheap, and I've already researched connecting them, but do I need to tune the engine to match the transmission? Can I just plug in some vacuum lines to the th350 and call it a day? If you couldn't tell, LS swaps are not my realm of expertise, and I'd really appreciate some help.
    As far as the wiring goes, you really made it seem easy. I'm usually not intimidated with electronics, as I love working on computers, so I figured I'd give a custom factory harness a try instead of doing an aftermarket one.

    Hey man do you notice a huge power difference between the Gen IV 6.0 and the 5.3?
    The stats I find people vouching for the 6.0 being a massive power increase are always the same people who’s LS isn’t even driving or fully installed yet. So it’s just blind guessing based off displacement. But you own them so what’s your take on the two?

    • @BlaserBuilds
      @BlaserBuilds  5 років тому +5

      No big differences. Especially when referencing cost. 4.8/5.8 will make great power boosted for much lower cost... I started with that mindset and now I'm not even interested in the 6.0 anymore, lol.

    The only thing I found that is helpful is when I marked wires to remove I used red electricians tape on only those wires and I put one piece of red tape on the end of the wire in the harness and then I put another piece of the red tape close to the plug so I could remove them in bulk once I had gone through all the wires.

High voltage comes to the spark plugs, but no impulse comes to the injectors. Maybe you can advise me what could be the reason. Diagnostics shows me the error P0315. The sensor is working. I've got a swap in planning stages with a 90's Mercedes 5.0 v8. Since no system that's usable standalone exists I'm thinking it makes sense to run it off a ls based system, basically make the computer still think it's running a 5.3. If it all goes to shit I'm that much closer to just biting the bullet and putting an LS in the car. The only thing that will be tricky I can think of is making sure the cam signal is the same and maybe knock sensor? I know I'll need an external reluctor and sensor. The rest of the sensors shouldn't be a problem to adapt. Does this sound nuts?

Now I am doing a 5.3 that will be going into a 67 Nova, was wondering if I want to put a manual transmission behind the 5.3, what wires are need from harness for the manual transmission, the VSS wires? Any specific one?? Thanks you so much!!!

      Depending on trans Probably just VSS if you're using a trans that's 4k pulse per mile output.

    Can I ask did you use the F2 pink wire on the C2 block the person before me cut the wire to where it went so I don't know where it went to.

    Where is the plug at 12:23 located on a donor car? And is it tied to the wiring harness that all the loom was cut off of?

Light green is "park nuetral position switch signal" and the grey is "Trailer Backup Lamp Supply Voltage"

    Love your vids! I'm doing the exact swap and in the same way I'm not about spending my hard earned money on parts I know I can make , I'm gonna attempt the wiring but I'm dropping in a 4l60e along with the 5.3. I'm watching for the ac hook up if you are gonna do it so i can follow what you do.
    Also would you remove vats and other un needed things for others ecu's ? People here charge like they looking for me to put their kids through collage. Keep it ☝

      It costs 2 credits to unlock PCM to remove VATS ($100) unless you have umited license which can be thousands of dollars...

      Hey @ 28:50 do those grounds just go to ground wires that are soldered all together in the harness? I domt seem to have them unless I cut them off can I just solder new grounds where they all meet ?

    • @BlaserBuilds
      @BlaserBuilds  6 років тому

      @@guzlndzl yeah they all go to the same place... PCM will have grounds also.

      I guess I cut them off with out thinking

      @BlaserBuilds  6 років тому

      @@guzlndzl Maybe just do a double check and make sure PCM has all wiring needed. And keep that in mind if you have any odd issues at startup, grounds are something that get easily missed in a good situation.

    I saw you did cut an OBD 2 cable. Would that affect the tunning since you're cutting off an OBD 2 cable??

    Are you using stock computer wires cut out and missing will it trigger a check engine light I’m trying to do a LS swap in my boat but there’s a bunch of crap I don’t need

      Yes, and yes you will have to delete some codes.

    Where are you getting your pink wire/s for the fromt o2 sensors to be wired in your new fuse block? Only the rears has pinks and its required to remove the rears! I only have lt/grn and grn all spliced into the harness and the tan and purple goe to the pcm plugs. Where do they get the power. Where is the pink?? Hahaha
