I met chris sabat last month at comic con in london. He was very sweet during our interaction and very respectful.
Lots of people have said Sean is an asshole. Pretty sure a big anituber said they had an interaction with him, where he basically said he was better than them, because they would never be a real part of anime like him because he is a voice actor and they are just UA-camrs talking g about anime.

His pathetic attempt to repair his image by playing dragonball games on streams is definitely something his manager/agent told him to do. Never in a million years would he care enough about interacting with fans enough to do that. I try to separate the art from the artist, and I love him as Goku. But man, he is just way too much of a jerk and I think everyone is better off enjoying his voice acting and leaving him as a person alone.

Sean is a great voice actor, but I'm pretty sure he backed up the allegations against Vic, the voice actor for Broly in the DBS Broly movie. Those allegations were false and disproven. What he and funimation did was unforgiveable
He did jump on what's her names side and acted as if he caught Vic doing some shit.
After all that falsifying they did on Vic I'm surprised the Funimation Leaks didn't get them in trouble

@@user-qg3mc5bw6b cope
was he nice to u?@@user-qg3mc5bw6b
is this canon?
Well the reason Sean gets angry is because he doesn't usually like fans or people he just likes the fame, there's many instances where fans have tried to share things with him or mention something to him and he's dismissed it, for example at a convention a couple years back he was asked about dbza he immediately dismissed it and said he has nothing to do with it when they were just asking his opinion while with Chris Sabat (Vegeta) he would happily join in and even voiced in the show as a guest appearance, he would also do the over 9000 part 100 times even though it's Brian Drummond who popularised that line. Sean sadly also participated in getting rid of Vic Mignogna (Broly) (Edward Elric) and he made up accusations about him even though he was his friend and forced him out of funimation and his job. While Sean is a incredible artist you have to seperate the art from the artist sometimes and this is one of those instances
Sean, Chrisopher and Sonny strait were all involved in making things up about Vic.
The odd thing is, Sean actually was on the fence when the accusations came out unlike Christopher, but after some people online annoyed him he immediately said "Y'know what? Fuck Vic!"
@@G1sandG1rlsGaming that's the sad reality they ganged up on him just because he's a devout Christian and insanely talented while they are athiests and are just miserable people in general
He was justified about dbza. Dbza is actually garbage and it does hurt their jobs. Dbza has hurt the fanbase beyond repair as people have no knowledge on dragon ball and get all their knowledge from dbza.
It did hurt dbz you're not wrong. There's a lot of kids who probably grew up on it instead of the actual dragonball z expecting the real thing to be similar @boredape1986

@@dreamerfrostbite2066 the allegations were literally all disproven. It was all just horrible made up shit to attack Vic. We must never forget nor forgive.
Met Sean at my job years ago at my retail job that I use to work at. He was super nice. I helped him find toilet paper and he let me call him goku. He was a good dude to me. He even told me before it was announced to the public who the voice actor for zamasu was.
I work at the airport and I met him at work near Wendy's and took a picture
I bet the Japanese actress who voices Goku would be a more pleasant individual to converse with
It would be if it wasn't for these dang ol language barriers 😭
Sean is definitely somebody that I’ve learned to separate the art from the artist so to say, first red flag for me was his “politically correct” response to TFS and Dragon Ball Abridged sounding like he was a Toei spokesperson. Second was the stuff he said about Vic during the KickVic campaign (they definitely had it out for Vic). Last is there’s been a lot of people that have met him that said he acted uninterested and very dry. I love his voice as Goku but him as a person from what I’ve seen and read online makes him seem very stuck up towards the people that support him and put him in the position he’s in today
Exact same

This is kinda hilarious im not gonna lie soon as i saw the title im like oh boy
I met Vic Mignogna VA of Broly, Edward from FMA, and MANY more like 10 years ago at Comic Con. He was one of the most genuine souls Ive ever met. We had a short but impactful convo and my friend was really nervous to meet him so Vic consoled and reassured him. Dude is a wonderful human being and seemed so grateful to be there, if you ever get a chance to meet him definitely talk to him.
He is awesome man. Met him 11 times and he was always super sweet and engaging to talk to. He loves to give hugs and we always exchanged one when we met and he remembers his fans.
I met Vic Mignogna this past June in LA. He was easy to talk to and I felt at ease even though I was hella nervous as I didn't end up waiting for very long in line to meet him. He loved the gifts that I gave him, especially the ring and the Star Trek necklace. He said to me:
"I love you, you are so kind. I wish there were more people like you in the world"
Words cannot describe how I felt when he said that to me. His words do speak volumes when he said he wishes everyone could just put aside our differences and celebrate the things we love and do instead of being offended by this thing, and criticizing that thing.
I got to hug him afterwards and told him as we were hugging, that I was so glad he came, and he said the same to me too, and we should make it a tradition to meet each other many times as we can.
It was an honor and a blessing to meet a kind genuine person like Vic.
I like Goku.
I don’t like Sean. He is the literal Homelander of the voice acting scene.
Funimation is the Vought America of the anime industry
That's this man for ya, I never met Vic in person but I'd do it oneday but the man truly loves his fans and doing his job while kind about it, unlike Sean and the others who helped Vic suffer and lose his career, he has shown more honesty and goodness & never once appears like a liar or pxdo.
I asked him to put “keep moving forward “ on a funko pop and he said “oh naw “, I’m only signing my name and made a scene to let every know he wasn’t writing out any quotes . We weren’t told this at that local funko pop store in Atlanta and it became a hella awkward . It Was a Rough time in my life a few years ago with work and relationships and I thought it would be inspirational , but that became the most awkward and weirdest encounter I ever had with a voice actor .
I’ve been talking about some of these voice actors for years. There is seriously something off with some of them. And I don’t mean in the eccentric otaku or “fan” way. From Chris Sabat’s weird obsession with Only Fan cosplayers, to all the weird family members involved on the dubs of these anime. I feel like stuff got weird after the whole Vic Mignogna scandal. I think people need to understand something about meeting “celebrities”… They are normal people and like normal people, they are flawed. So in this situation, yes… This dude Voices Goku. But he ISN’T Goku.
Tbh the only good experience I ever had meeting with voice actors was Ned Luke (Michael De Santa), he actually is a really good guy
What happened with Vic
@@joemomma6317 He got metoo’d with allegations of assault that have never been backed up by evidence or police reports. He got kicked off of his VA role as Broly, likely because his former coworkers had a trigger of jealousy from the rise of his character’s popularity. So within VA circles he was blacklisted, albeit he still manages with fan projects and meetups where he’s not blacklisted. He also hired a lawyer for a libel and slander suit versus Funimation. Unfortunately that became its own mess of his lawyer committing malpractice by bringing in legal documents late into court, and Vic had agreed to his contract in such a way that he received no money back from the funds for legal fees his supporters gave for his case, and that is just on top of being issued costs issued by the court to pay to Funimation around the sum of 300,000 plus dollars.
The more you look into this, the more you’ll see how dark and rotten the VA industry is. Or at least Funimation’s VA’s. It’s gotten me to just watch fan subbed episodes out of habit when I watch anime nowadays.
If you see any of Vics interviews he’s a really nice guy, and while open about his personal religious beliefs when asked he doesn’t push them onto people talking to him. If anything he’ll take to task fundamentalist evangelicals for not exhibiting a good christian ethic. In short he was cancelled for being a white, christian guy, both by his former peers and an online anonymous mob.
Noob and a softy. Sabat has been known to have voiced straight up hentai for decades now.
Chris sabat a horny simp or what?
I met him back at Collect-A-Con in July of 2023 in KC and he was so cool and chill with me. I have seen him come off as being mundane with other fans that were in front of me, but I felt like he was probably tired because it was day 3 and he was exhausted from working on a “secret” project which was more than likely Sparking Zero.

Its pretty heartbreaking that such an iconic, humble, light hearted, and kind character like Goku can by voiced by someone who is the exact opposite of that.
Funny enough, Chris Sabat was actually pretty chill dude, and he said he liked the DBZ abridged series, while sean was hating on it
Nah cause if Goku was mad at me irl that’s a different type of fear😅💀
I work at cons for a living so I’ve been to Many shows with Sean there. I have pictures with All the other Goku(s)(Peter Kalemas being my favorite) and I decided years ago, I needed Sean too(my least favorite) he was fine with me, but I was Really off put by how he treated the person in front of me. They were SO excited to meet him!! They waited a long time, paid a lot of money, and for a selfie. This was during the goku black arc airing, and They asked him “I was curious about why you used a different accent for goku Black vs Goku? Like a british accent?” He went off on them “I think I know how to do my job and nobody needs to tell ME how to voice Act” They didn’t mean any offense by it, but he definitely took offense!!
A lot of people don't like Sean mainly due to how introverted he is. I'd imagine it being very mentally exhausting to talk to hundreds of different people all in a single sitting, whilst the vast majority of them asking something from you. Compare him to Chris Sabat, who is a very extroverted person, it's much easier to feel more comfortable speaking to him, as extroverted people are very outgoing which makes them easier to talk to. I understand why some would say that Sean comes off as an ass hole, especially when you're meeting him in a place where you are expected to socialize. But that doesn't inherently mean he's a bad person. Some may bring up some of his past controversies as ammo to paint him as someone malicious. But everyone makes mistakes. And as much as I believe people should be held accountable for their mistakes and actions, I don't think it's fair to assume that is their entire personality.

I dont see how he is introverted nor how being one makes you an aholes, Sean Is known for not being as great as the character that he plays and having a highhorse attitude syndrome. I think he was about to leave because everyone was in Chris sabats line and the voice actor for master chief who I both wanted to meet lol, but Sean’s response is a bit foggy but from what his emotions where he was basically saying it’s an experience with mixed emotions. I didn’t ask for a picture mainly because he did look tired and technically I talked to him for free since like I said his booth was empty. Good guy over all
Oh that was just the surface area, pal.
I always heard mixed opinions about Sean, so when I had the chance to meet him I was surprised to see that he was quite
the opposite of what people said he was like. (keep in mind that when I met him he was still recovering from his stomach issues) He had really positive energy and liked the question I asked him and gave me a pretty well thought out answer. I’m glad to say that I “saw the good side of him” as others tell me.
Ever since they did that shit to Vic I switched to the sub completely.
The English version feels so dirty now knowing they all conspired and lied and got away with it.
5:26 Yeah that's my boy.
Scrolling through my youtube recommendeds just to see me and my boys chilling in the background of a vid. This is fate, have a wonderful day.
Luckily you got to meet him. He was supposed to be a con here in Florida called Collect-A-Con. I had friends ready to meet him and cosplayed goku. I bought a really expensive Goku Funko Pop for him to sign. He didn’t end up showing up. Had friends already predicting he was going to be a no show cause how constant he cancels.
Sean has been known to have a bad ego. 😞
Bro almost became Goku Black
I have met Sean a couple of times and he has always been very cool with me! I am sorry that a lot of fans have had some poor experiences with him and that is very unfortunate. However I did want to share something positive about a very cool thing that he did for me at the first con that I met him.
For some reason I was confused about the photo op schedule that I was going to have with him (apparently I missed it). When I told the ones in charge of the photo op both, they quickly reached out to Sean and he came quickly to do my photo op with me! He did not have to do that since I guess I did miss the correct time for the photo op and I will always be grateful to him for going above and beyond for me!

Sean been real quite since this drop.
this is why mario castañeda and masako nozawa solos
"hola soy Goku! Son 100 varos"

I had a really good experience meeting Sean, getting a picture and a signature in Philly. Sorry people have had a bad experience and totally respect that not everyone gets the best experience from actors who voice or play characters we enjoy. And I had that same type of experience with the actors from supergirl. They were just not nice when I met them. And hurt my fandom for the show or their characters specifically
I remember I met Chris Sabat on the street outside of Comic Con. Dude was so nice he offered to take a pic with us even though I never asked. Great dude.
A year later I went to meet Sean Schemmel and do the world's largest Kamehameha (some world record where everyone does the Kamehameha wave at the same time). And waited in line for a good while. They ended up doing it before everyone got through the line and he left. Nothing wrong with that, but you could tell which of the 2 prefers being around the fans and who doesn't.
I was expecting something crazy
If i have a chance to meet sean schemmal
I would tell him that he is a big part of my child hood and I hope he keeps up the work
looks like the peak of acting has met, the peak of being weird with your phone when bored
I met him once. It was brief. He was cool but that way way before any of the Vic stuff. I also disnt know he hated TF4 so its not like i would have occured to me to either mention/dont mention it around him. TF4 was still in its infancy back then.
Sean is not pure hearted
Sean probably has alot of constant pressure and is very introverted, so I think his social battery just deteriorates and with how big he is as goku's voice, He might just be used to high quality shit and expects the god treatment. I'm not sure, But someone else who met him said they had a bad experience and sean personally apologized to him, So I think he's just human like everyone else and just got too popular.
Another thing, He Probably gets tired of being treated like a monkey at a zoo where you walk up and ask him to dance for you over and over and over again.
We all make mistakes and we all have moments of jerkishness, doesn't mean we're always like that, doesn't mean we have to be like that either
@@TMF979Resurge Yeah that too
The first thing that popped up in my mind reading all these comments and listening to your story is the Xenoverse 2 Goku meme 😂
Tips on meeting/asking a VA
1. Do research so you don't ask the same question everyone else does
2. Make it quick
3. Save questions for the panel
4. Most importantly, Dont go in with high expectations
I was there Friday with my family and met him. I saw you in the line behind me.
So, is his story 100% true?
@rroca9140 seems unlikely they would know, if he was in the line behind them. That would imply the family met Sean first & would've been gone by the time he made it up to the front of the line.
@@chimeria7Yeah I didn’t see him take the picture because he was a row or two behind me and my family.
U didn't answer the question
@gregkareem9824 can't answer a question you weren't there to answer...
He was gone by the time the events of the video took place. Hence, him being near the front of the line. Long enough to see Sean & the UA-camr, NOT long enough to see what happened. How are you expecting him to comment on something he wasn't there to see?
So awesome that you got to meet the voice of Gonard from Kappa Mikey
I met Sean and he handed me 1 million Zeni, seems like a good chap
Ive lost respect for him after the whole vic mignona incident
He was mad because you skipped your training 😅
This is every sean schemmel story tbh
I just met him the other day at a con and he was super nice and he spent his time on me, the whole filming thing I understand because someone filmed him when he talked about SSJ4 on a panel, and I thanked him when I met him for that, but I also asked him if he got in trouble for saying that and he told me that he did, so I understand the whole filming thing
Ngl bro I never met somebody holding a phone like that 💀 turned Goku into Goku Black real quick hahaha
You mean maxor from chaotic!
Chaotic slaps
Sean Schemmel had me barred from entering the signing line because during the DBZ Reunion panel at SGC 2014 I asked the panelist if they had any favorite DBZA lines.
I know, BIG no no now but this was before his disdain for TFS & other Goku VAs was well known. Both TFS & the Funi cast were at the con & there were talks of them swapping scripts for a special panel by the people running the show on the SideScrollers podcast a week earlier, so I thought the question was fair, as did the question screener who approved it. 🤷
He noticeably soured, looked like he almost rage quit the panel & mentally checked out on his phone while Sunny & the other panelists talked about how they're the shepards of the characters & cannot publicly say anything like a DBZA bit in character (makes sense) but they did say pretty funny/raunchy stuff in between takes as the characters that could never be released (some was leaked a few years later, man he wasn't kidding😬).
After I sat back down, the next person asked a joke question about DragonBall Evolution & Sean grabbed his mic & said "those last two questions REALLY pissed me off".
I left soon after to get into the signing line before the panel was done but was denied entry by Lauren (former ScrewAttack employee, current Funimation employee at the time) who knew me from the ScrewAttack community, past cons, Facebook friends, etc (superficial stuff, basically just a hair more than acquaintances). She was super apologetic & looked genuinely bummed when she told me the line was full.
All good, it's to be expected. I walked away but when I turn around to see if my friends were out of the panel yet, I see her directing people to the "full" line to meet the cast.
My guess is that Sean texted her either my photo or a description of what I had on telling her to turn me away when he sulked back into his chair & pulled his phone out due to my question.
Good times. 🙃
Sean is a dude who is human and has faults. We all do. And it takes a lot to admit them. Sean is not perfect and we all will never be perfect. But, I’m glad you interaction with him went well in the end! Love your video! 🎉
From what I’ve heard, meeting Sean seems like a Russian roulette as while I heard some bad interactions, I’ve also heard a few good interactions.
I guess he’s probably one of those guys where it just depends on the mood he’s in (tho that doesn’t justify the Vic incident nor how he acts with the other English Goku VAs)
Damn I guess I must’ve just been extra lucky when I met him. He was the first celebrity I ever got to meet and even though when I got in line I heard him complaining to the staff that he was supposed to have already left at that point he still signed the remaining people’s stuff. It probably helped that when I did speak to him i kept it short & nice mostly saying it was an honor to meet someone who was a big part of my childhood. He’s seemed very chill to me probably because I was in & out quick
@@Spidercake54 stop cursing its a sin dude
he is tired too, from meeting all the fans and stuff... respecting his privacy is every fans priority
I've met Sean Schemmel in person before couple years back. Honestly, he's not that great of a person. He's a bit of an asshole. He may voice one of the most empathetic, caring, loving, chill, carefree guy. But he does not match his character at all.
