      +TheOl1911 it would be cool if you did a video on the pug nose where you wear it owb with a t shirt. I'm just curious with that short nose it seems like you wouldn't even have much sticking below the bottom of the t shirt. Looks very concealable

    Excellent Review - I appreciate your committing to EDC with this and taking the time to put this review together. I carry S&W M638 Body Guard for summer time fun but just recently have been considering one of these just to get the extra rounds. I'd probably use the Spear in 38+p because I've trained with it in my Body Guard.
    Thanks again for your efforts to expand my knowledge of this revolver

    This is a "GREAT" firearm for CCW, 8RD of .357, very light, and easy concealment. I can not ask for anything better, and it is a Smith&Wesson USA made with one of the best lifetime warranties in the business. Thank you for a Great upload.

    I saw one used in a gun shop the other day and was so excited but then the guy handed it to me and the side that was face down in the showcase was mangled, I mean it looked like someone dragged it with a chain down the road. What a let down, I would have bought it in a minute if in good shape. Thanks buddy, great video! Love that holster!

    The primary advantage of the moon clip is that all the rounds will eject together. You only should need to hit the ejector rod once. No chance of a round getting caught between the star and frame

    Low .357 expansion out of that short barrel is what kept me on the fence. The self defense ammo is crucial to know what it does in a barrel that short. But I ultimately caved in and don’t regret it.

    I know what you mean about the Star speedloader's noisiness. But I've been thinking on that, and I believe there is way to carry them without the noise. An elastic carry pouch or a slightly coned leather speeedloader holster would squeeze the ends of the bullets so that their wouldn't be any rattle at all. A speed strip is ok at times, when you have no workable speeedloader option. But a speed strip is just slower than I would want given the choice between the two.

    buffalo bore was probably the culprit of the cylinder erosion. they specifically say on the website you should not use certain ammo in those lighter frames and only put them in all steel revolvers. Thats why I prefer and went with the 2.6 inch 627 S&W. 8 shots .357 mag in an all steel frame that can handle the big boy loads and can take a bear if needed :)

  • @almaadams3631

    M&P compact 3.5" 13rnd mag.
    Now: the two options; keep you 40 barrel and buy Underwood 135 150 or 155grn.
    40sw HPs.
    2) Buy a 357sig barrel ( I like KKM)
    and any number of loadings will work
    ( 5 petal Speer gold dot work great in short barrels. I also like Corbon 115grn.)
    ALL of these bullet and barrel combos
    will give you more energy, higher capacity, lower recoil, report and muzzle flash.
    If you must buy a Glock, the same ammo and barrel swaps are just as effective.
    The M&P 2.0 has a better grip angle and a lower recoil impulse, but if you have been shooting Glocks for 20 years, by all means, stick with what you know.

    I have a hammerless S&W Model 640 in stainless steel. It is nice to have the .357 Magnum capability for self defense but also shoot .38 Special ammo for target practice. The two inch barrel allows for a certain degree of accuracy, but this is a gun for up close work, primarily. Smith and Wesson wheel guns are wonderful guns, almost without a fault.
    I have nothing against Ruger and Colt, as I own some revolvers by them as well...

    Have your competition buddy direct you to better moon clips. Hearthco matches his moon clip to your brass as will TK Custom. Or, you can match your brass (ammo) to your moon clip to get rid of a lot of the wobble. There are leather moon clip carriers designed for concealed carry (del fatti?) available, too

    I like the fact that it looks like it was made from a collection of parts from junk guns. In a defensive situation, the assailant might easily see this thing and not even believe it was a real gun, thus giving the owner the upper hand.

Works great with normal t shirt and jeans but since I lost a bunch of weight the setup no longer works for tucked in church attire. Can’t decide between this revolver and a 2.5in python or colt viper… any insight would be helpful. This revolvers 8 shots looks chunky but on paper it’s only a half inch difference.

      That is such a stupid line. The point of cc is that you've somehow ended up in a shitty situation and regardless of how you got there you need to get out alive. And giving yourself idiotic artificial limitations because you think your to cool to carry extra ammo is a great way to end up dead, defeating the whole point of carrying in the first place.

    Where the Moon Clips come in handy on the street is after you cleared the gun and you go to reload the clip keeps all the now empty brass together as a single unit. I don't carry spare moon clips on my person but when reloading quickly I've never had a stubborn or stuck case left in the cylinder after smacking the extractor rod. So when you load up for the day use the clip if you have one, carry extra rounds on speed strips. FWIW

    OK, So over the year how is the EROSION factor? This is what I had written about on your first post. I am still thinking about getting this revolver but am still very afraid of the burn off effect. As far as a holster I'm sure there are plenty of them out there by now. Maybe Alian? Of the good old Desanti and so on. Also How are the STAR Speed Loaders? I think there is one other company that makes that type but they are very tall and to carry in a lets say pair of dockers would be uncomfortable. My 5 round loaders were easy to carry in a pair of docker type pants and I would have three in each side. I had a buddy who had a belt made for his speed loaders that held 12 or more I cannot remember but it was for his large frame S&W 357 and he was a competition shooter. Any way I will keep thinking about this revolver as soon as I know it won't blow up in my face after 1,000 rounds. I know you have to use a fast burn ammo, I think you had said that at one point. NOTE: Safariland, HKS, Maxfire, Speedbeez make 8 round speed loaders now. I think over all the 5 star may be the best although a bit shaky. The Maxfire is a slip in round holder that is plastic.

    I have the same S&W Model 327. Since it has the internal lock on it, I have been hesitant to use it as my daily carry. It looks like you have yours deactivated; so was wondering if you would still use it as a primary carry even with the active internal lock, or simply regulate it to a range gun?

    • @TheOl1911

      This is an old vid - but I did carry this wheelie for a while and it worked out fine. I also did put a ton of rounds through this revolver (apparently more so than the average owner according to customer service, haha) and never had any issue with the lock. I did not deactivate it - I never used it though. I have a bunch of S&W wheelies that have the lock and sure I prefer not to have one but honestly I personally never had any issues. I would carry it.

    • @TheOl1911
      @TheOl1911  3 роки тому +3

      I think so because of the size (N-Frame) and grip. More to hold onto and the weight is a tad bit more. I recently did a revisit on this wheelie in 2021 where I took it to the range (Resurrection: The Pug Nose 2021). Granted I was only shooting 38spls but it is controllable for sure. 357 might be a different story. But I do not shoot full house mags through this. But I was use to the recoil, etc...at the time so it didn't phase me much. its definitely a 'speciality' wheelie.

    Just a thought: I think it could be extremely dangerous to have snap caps and live ammo in the same video. If you have just live ammo, you're ok, and if you have just snap caps, you're ok. But with both you could easily confuse or forget which is which during filming. Just an observation.

    I just watched your video (08/21/18) and I would love to get a chance to shot it at my local gun range. I carry P226 10 rounds

  • @matthewrobinson4323
    @matthewrobinson4323 8 років тому +1

    Regarding accuracy with a snubbie, on a recent trip to the range, I set the target at 15 yards instead of my usual 7. Of the 15 rounds fired,13 hit in the kill zone. Two narrowly missed the target.
    My edc is the Smith and Wesson 442 & 2 speed strips. I've carried it every day since June, 2014, and practice as often as possible.

    • @loslosbaby
      @loslosbaby 6 років тому

      To me, mistaking a snap cap for ammo is like picking up a pebble and going "OMG, my favorite flavor of jelly bean". I'd blame "the camera effect" but it would be awesome training tech to mention "these are snap caps--a really useful training tool, you should check it out..." so I get ya.

    Seems like the Gold Dot is out of stock everywhere. Have any other recommendations? Was checking the Hornady Critical Duty .357 Mag 135 Grain, Flex lock? Thoughts?

    • @TheOl1911
      @TheOl1911  8 років тому +1

      +Will Jones (Custom Web Sight) Those rounds are tough to find for some reason. That's why when I see them in stock I buy a case. Midway USA always use to have them in stock? Critical Duty would be mainly for a 4"+ barrel...so I'd skip those for a snubbie. I'd rather use Critical Defense.

    • @TheOl1911
      @TheOl1911  8 років тому +2

      +Conrad Kelly 327 hands down as its a great carry gun but...its not the best in the sense it has such a short barrel and can only handle certain 357 mags... but I really like the 327.

    I can’t think of a worse carry revolver the only thing going for it is the 8 shot cylinder the 2” barrel is not the best for 357 as it dismisses the velocity of the 357 and the N frame makes difficult to conceal IWB I would much rather have a model 66 or even a J frame or a Ruger sp 101 and the 1200 dollar price tag is ridiculous

  • @Philly1958
    @Philly1958 8 років тому +1

    Instead of more ammo have you considered a NY reload? J frame in weak side pocket?
